  • This study investigates the change of the temperature and mechanical properties of the braking disk for the railway vehicle. The average temperature is measured about $100^{\circ}C$ and the maximum temperature is measured over $200^{\circ}C$ by non-contact sensor from Seoul to Chun-an. As a result of measuring, we determine the temperature of test(tensile and J-integral) at $20^{\circ}C,\;100^{\circ}C,\;200^{\circ}C$ and $300^{\circ}C$. In the test, the material values are decreased by the increasing of the temperature. But ratio of decreasing is the largest at $200^{\circ}C$, the tensile test value is decreased about $10\%$ and the J-integral test value is decreased $30\%$. The mechanical properties of this material are mostly changed at $200^{\circ}C$.

  • This paper introduces the combined test results of the traction system for KHST(Korean High Speed Train: hereafter refer to KHST). The main purpose of this combined test is to verify the performance of the traction system that is designed to operate up to maximum 350km/h speed. Combined test system consists of a traction transformer, two AC-DC PWM converters, a PWM Inverter, two traction motors and flywheel system. Flywheel system represents equivalent model of the train inertia. Also traction control system and MASCON Interfaces are included. Various kinds of experiments are performed to prove total traction system performance and detail waveforms are described

  • This paper presents a thermal creep test under internal pressure and post-test characterization performed on high burnup (68 MWd/kgU) ZIRLO. This research has been done by the CSN, ENRESA, and ENUSA in order to investigate the behavior of advanced cladding materials in contemporary PWRs at higher burnup under dry cask storage conditions. Also, to investigate the hydride reorientation, the cool-down of the samples after the test has been done in a coordinated manner with the internal pressure. The creep results obtained are consistent with the expected behavior from reference CWSR material, Zr-4. During the test, the material retained significant ductility: one specimen leaked during the test at an engineering strain of the tube section of 17%; remarkably, the crack closed due to de-pressurization. Although significant hydride reorientation occurred during the cool-down under pressure, no specimen failed during the cool-down.

  • For integrity evaluation of cracked or damaged structures, fracture toughness test results in ASTM are widely used. The fracture toughness values of the structures are used as an effective design criterion in nuclear plants and aircraft structures. Sometimes the difference of P-$\delta$ curve trend during the unloading /reloading cycle in the fracture toughness test using partial unloading compliance was observed. The phenomenon as a possible source of error in determining fracture toughness may be caused by the residual stress during unloading work-hardening and bucking of a specimen. Therefore, we evaluate the effect of bucking and compressive residual stress during the K-R and J-R testing using a finite element method.

  • Applicability of tearing modulus based on J-integral proposed by Paris et al is investigated using compact tension specimens of strutural alloy steel (SCM4). Both general fracture test and instability fracture test are performed. The applied tearing modulus, ( $T_{j}$)app estimated from the real load vs. crack growth curve measured from experiments are compared with that estimated from the limit load vs. crack growth curve. The results are : (1) the $T_{j}$parameter could be applied to predict crack growth instability : (2) The use of ( $T_{j}$)app estimated from the load vs. crack growth curve, proposed in this study could be well predicted crack growth instability instead of that estimated form the limit load vs. crack growth curve.e.
