The purpose of the critical evaluation of the spent fuel pool (SFP) is to verify that the maximum effective multiplication factor ($K_{eff}$) is less than the critical safety limit at 100% stored condition of the spent fuel with the maximum reactivity. At nuclear power plants, the storage standard of spent fuel, ie, the loading curve, is established to prevent criticality from being generated in SFP. Here, the loading curve refers to a graph showing the minimum discharged burnup versus the initial enrichment of spent fuel. Recently, US NRC proposed the new critical safety assessment guideline (DSS-ISG-2010-01, Revision 0) of PWR SFPs and most of utilities in US is following it. Of course, the licensed criterion of the maximum effective multiplication factor of SFP remains unchanged and it should be less than 0.95 from the 95% probability and the 95% confidence level. However, the new guideline is including the new evaluation methodologies like the application of the axial burnup profile, the validation of depletion and criticality code, and trend analysis. Among the new evaluation methodologies, the most important factor that affects $K_{eff}$ is the axial burnup profile of spent fuel. US NRC recommends to consider the axial burnup profiles presented in NUREG-6801 in criticality analysis. In this paper, criticality effect was evaluated considering three profiles, respectively: i) Axial burnup profiles presented in NUREG-6801. ii) Representative PWR axial burnup profile. iii) Uniform axial burnup profile. As the result, the case applying the axial burnup profiles presented in NUREG-6801 showed the highest $K_{eff}$ among three cases. Therefore, we need to introduce a new methodology because it can be issued if the axial burnup profiles presented in NUREG/CR-6801 are applied to the domestic nuclear power plants without any other consideration.
For large scale power applications of HTS conductor, it is getting more important to have a stacked HTS coated conductor with low loss and large current capacity. But it was not easy to measure some electric properties. Stabilizer free YBCO CC for striated/ stacked conductors is easily burned out during the measurement of the critical current density because it has no stabilizer and it is difficult to set-up the current lead and voltage taps because it has many pieces of YBCO CC in a conductor. Instead of direct measuring the critical current of a stacked HTS coated conductor, indirect estimation from measuring a magnetization loss of HTS coated conductor could be useful for practical estimation of the critical current. The magnetization loss of a superconductor is supposed to be affected by a full penetrating magnetic field, and it tends to show an inflection point at the full penetrating magnetic field when we generate the graph of magnetization loss vs. external magnetic field. The full penetrating magnetic field depends on the shape of the conductor and its critical current density, so we can estimate the effective critical current density from measuring the magnetization loss. In this paper, to prove the effectiveness of this indirect estimation of the critical current, we prepared several different kinds of YBCO CC(coated conductor) including a stacked conductor short samples and measured the magnetization losses and the critical currents of each sample by using linked pick up coils and direct voltage measurement with transport current respectively.
An essential step in evaluating and comparing the performance of two passive radiation dosimeter types, thermosluminescent (TLD) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL), used by workers in environments with ionizing radiation for individual radiological monitoring and control of external exposure at various times (cumulative dose for 1 month), is to compare the measured dose accuracy, energy response, and coefficient of variation. In fact this performance study consists in determining the accuracy of both R(10) and R(0.07) which are considered as the ratios of the measured dose (Hp(10) or Hp(0.07)) to the delivered dose (Hp(10) or Hp(0.07)) for each photon energy. The validity of the results of this test is based on the acceptance limits of the ICRP and the international standard IEC-62387. The relative energy response used is normalized to the 137Cs 662 keV energy to find which energy response is closest to the ideal case, and the coefficient of variation that allows to determine the statistical fluctuation of the Hp(10) and Hp(0.07) doses. The results of the accuracy test for the OSL and TLD dosimeters are acceptable because they fall within the ICRP limits. For the energy response, the OSL performs better than the TLD for Hp(10) and Hp(0.07), and for the coefficient of variation, the OSL satisfies the requirements of ISO 62387 for both Hp(10) and Hp(0.07), while the TLD satisfies these requirements only for the measurement of Hp (0.07).
Presently, working gas pipelines are being subjected to the influence of construction vibration. Especially on subway and road construction, gas pipelines are being influenced to construction vibration caused by use of construction equipment, passage of a large-sized vehicle and blasting. Buried gas pipelines are subjected to the influence of vibration caused by blast in the vicinity of pipeline, exposed gas pipelines are subjected to the influence of vehicle vibration. Therefore, in the study, it is developed to vibration prediction program of gas pipeline by analyzing measured construction vibration. This program is able to predict vibration of gas pipeline according to field conditions by using the results of structural finite element analysis and empirical equation by reliability analysis. And, this program contains the database of construction vibration. Additionally, this program is able to compute estimated blast vibration equation using measured blast vibration data in the field and to form graph of allowable charging gunpowder per delayed-action with the change of blast velocity. Therefore, field workers are able to predict construction vibration around gas pipeline and estimate safety of gas pipeline.
Kinetic tests on pyrolysis of waste fishing net [WFN; nylon-6], waste ship lubricating oil [WSLO] and their mixture were carried out by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) with heating rate of 0.5, 1.0, and $2.0^{\circ}C/min$. Pyrolysis of waste fishing net started at $300^{\circ}C$, and the main region of decomposition temperature was between 360 and $440^{\circ}C$ at each heating rate. Decomposition temperature of the mixture of WFN and WSLO was lower than that of WFN and WSLO, and the shape of thermogravimetic graph of mixture was different as well. The corresponding kinetic parameters including activation energy and pre-exponential factor were determined by differential method over the degree of conversions. The values of activation energies for the mixture of WFN and WSLO were between 98 and 427 kJ/mol as the conversion increased from 5% to 95%. Tubing reactor was used to analysis of pyrolyzed oil at $440^{\circ}C$ for 80 min. The selectivity of specific hydrocarbons was not detected and the carbon number distribution of the pyrolyzed oil was below $C_{22}$.

Identifying students' achievement level and reflecting it on educational policy making or instructional improvement by analyzing the results of nationwide standardized assessment is an integral part of accountability in education. On the basis of this premise, we analyzed the characteristics of National Assessment of Educational Achievement (NAEA) items for middle school science subject conducted from 2010 to 2013 by using the option response rate distribution curve, the fittest graph estimated from the response rate of correct/incorrect options by achievement score. Furthermore, we classified the type of option response rate curve in terms of correct and incorrect options. Results of the analysis of option response curve showed that five types of correct option response curve (S-shaped, J-shaped, straight-shaped, F-shaped, and step-shaped) and 4 types of incorrect option response curve (down-slope, flat, mound, and up-slope) were identified. The most common type of items was the combination of S-shaped correct option response curve and down-slope incorrect option response curve, which are considered as appropriate items to discriminate the students according to achievement level. Moreover, correct option response was found to be correlated with incorrect option response. Based on the results, we also discussed some implications on teaching-learning method and classroom assessment in science education.
Three varieties of taro flours (Altoran, Josaengjong, and Jaeraejong) were analyzed to evaluate their nutrient composition and physicochemical properties. Moisture contents of the three taro cultivars varied from 5.74-10.30%. Among the three cultivars, Altoran flour had higher protein and fat contents than other cultivars. There were 17 kinds of amino acids in the three taro flours. The major fatty acids in the three taro flours were linoleic acid (46.5-51.4%), palmitic acid (21.7-25.8%), and oleic acid (12.3-18.7%), and two thirds of the total fatty acids were unsaturated fatty acids. Potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, and calcium were the most plentiful minerals in the three taro flours, and the free sugars were glucose, fructose, and sucrose. The total dietary fiber contents of the three taro flours ranged from 12.97 to 17.60%. From these results, Altoran contained a high level of dietary fiber, minerals, essential amino acids, and free sugars. Jaeraejong showed the highest water absorption index. The water soluble index of Altoran was higher than that of the other cultivars. From the differential scanning calorimeter results, the gelatinization temperatures of the three taro flours were $84.98-89.91^{\circ}C$. The pasting temperature of the three taro flours was from 46.77 to $49.30^{\circ}C$ by rapid visco-analyzer. Among these varieties, Josaengjong had the highest peak viscosity and final viscosity, whereas Altoran had the lowest. These taro cultivars are expected to be potential material for application in taro processed foods, due to their gelatination and pasting properties.
These studies were attempted to find out the optimum silk reeling system by use of automatic silk reeling machine to increase raw silk yield and reeling efficiency with various silk reelable cocoons. The obtained results are as follows; 1. The mean silk reelability ratio(X)of the Korean cocoons during the last ten years was 61 per cent, beside 64.7 per cent in autumn cocoon and 57.3 per cent in spring cocoon. However, the ratio variation of autumn cocoons was larger than that of spring cocoons. 2. A positive correlation between cocoon filament breaks during its process and silk reelability levels was shown to be significant. The cocoons of both poor and good reelability evidenced "J" shape distribution on the filament break graph by the order of reeling cocoon end. Many bave breaks were found at the inner shell of the cocoons, or in case of poor reelability cocoons. 3. The morphology of broken cocoon ends during the process was classified into A, B, C, D, E and F types, The occurrence of B type was majority, but that of F type was minority among them. 4. In case of the cocoon cooking, H-type ion-exchanged soft water was better for good reelability cocoons, Na and H-type ion exchanged neutral soft water for those of fair reelability, and alkaline (Na-type) soft water for those of poor reelability, respectively. 5. The modification of cooking water by mixing the above different types of water (50% Na-type and 50% H-type passed by standard natural water; 75% Na-type and 25% H-type passed by hard natural water; 25% Na-type and 75% H-type passed by soluble natural water) made higher yield of raw silk with tess breaks of thread. 6, In case cocoon ends groping water included sodium hexametaphosphate as much as 800 ppm. the groping efficiency and raw silk yield of cocoon was improved. The effect was pronounced in case of poor reelability cordons. 7. The most reasonable cocoon cooking and silk reeling condition for automatic silk reeling process were observed to be rather incomplete cook with good reelability cocoons and optimum cook with poor reelability cocoons succeeded by the reeling bath temperature of 45$^{\circ}C$, 8. The reasonable silk reeling velocities were observed to be about 150m per min. for good reelability cocoons, 120m per min. for fair reelability ones and 90 to 120m per min. for poor reelability ones. 9. In order to improve the raw silk yield of cocoons and reeling efficiency, the cocoon stand-by-ratio for reeling should be kept at the level of 40 per cent for good reelability cocoons or at 60 per cent for poor reelability ones beside necessary end found cocoon condition.
Tenofovir nanoparticles are novel therapeutic intervention in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection reaching the virus in their sanctuary sites. However, there has been no systemic toxicity testing of this formulation despite global concerns on the safety of nano drugs. Therefore, this study was designed to investigate the toxicity of Tenofovir nanoparticle (NTDF) on the liver and kidney using an animal model. Fifteen adult male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats maintained at the animal house of the biomedical resources unit of the University of KwaZulu-Natal were weighed and divided into three groups. Control animals (A) were administered with normal saline (NS). The therapeutic doses of Tenofovir (TDF) and nanoparticles of Tenofovir (NTDF) were administered to group B and C and observed for signs of stress for four weeks after which animals were weighed and sacrificed. Liver and kidney were removed and fixed in formal saline, processed and stained using H/E, PAS and MT stains for light microscopy. Serum was obtained for renal function test (RFT) and liver function test (LFT). Cellular measurements and capturing were done using ImageJ and Leica software 2.0. Data were analysed using graph pad 6, p values < 0.05 were significant. We observed no signs of behavioural toxicity and no mortality during this study, however, in the kidneys, we reported mild morphological perturbations widening of Bowman's space, and vacuolations in glomerulus and tubules of TDF and NTDF animals. Also, there was a significant elevation of glycogen deposition in NTDF and TDF animals when compared with control. In the liver, there were mild histological changes with widening of sinusoidal spaces, vacuolations in hepatocytes and elevation of glycogen deposition in TDF and NTDF administered animals. In addition to this, there were no significant differences in stereological measurements and cell count, LFT, RFT, weight changes and organo-somatic index between treatment groups and control. In conclusion, NTDF and TDF in therapeutic doses can lead to mild hepatic and renal histological damage. Further studies are needed to understand the precise genetic mechanism.

The Republic of Korea is located far from the boundary of the earthquake plate, and the intra-plate earthquake occurring in these areas is generally small in size and less frequent than the interplate earthquake. Nevertheless, as a result of investigating and analyzing earthquakes that occurred on the Korean Peninsula between the past two years and 1904 and earthquakes that occurred after observing recent earthquakes on the Korean Peninsula, it was found that of a magnitude of 9. In this paper, the Korean Peninsula Historical Earthquake Record (2 years to 1904) published by the National Meteorological Research Institute is used to analyze the relationship between earthquakes on the Korean Peninsula and statistical self-similarity. In addition, the problem solved through this paper was the first to investigate the relationship between earthquake data occurring on the Korean Peninsula and statistical self-similarity. As a result of measuring the degree of self-similarity of earthquakes on the Korean Peninsula using three quantitative estimation methods, the self-similarity parameter H value (0.5 < H < 1) was found to be above 0.8 on average, indicating a high degree of self-similarity. And through graph visualization, it can be easily figured out in which region earthquakes occur most often, and it is expected that it can be used in the development of a prediction system that can predict damage in the event of an earthquake in the future and minimize damage to property and people, as well as in earthquake data analysis and modeling research. Based on the findings of this study, the self-similar process is expected to help understand the patterns and statistical characteristics of seismic activities, group and classify similar seismic events, and be used for prediction of seismic activities, seismic risk assessments, and seismic engineering.
