  • Multiprecision squaring is one of the most significant algorithms in the core public key cryptography operation. The aim of this work is to present a new improved squaring algorithm compared with the MIRACL's multi precision squaring algorithm in which the previous work [1] on multiprecision multiplication is implemented. First, previous works on multiprecision multiplication and standard squaring are analyzed. Then, our new Lazy Doubling squaring algorithm is introduced. In MIRACLE library [3], Scott's Carry-Catcher Hybrid multiplication technique [1] is applied to implementation of multiprecision multiplication and squaring. Experimental results of the Carry-Catcher hybrid squaring algorithm and the proposed Lazy Doubling squaring algorithm both of which are tested on Atmega128 CPU show that proposed idea has achieved significant performance improvements. The proposed Lazy Doubling Squaring algorithm reduces addition instructions by the fact $a_0\;{\ast}\;2\;+\;a_1\;{\ast}\;2\;+\;...\;+\;a_{n-1}\;{\ast}\;2\;+\;a_n\;{\ast}\;2\;=\;(a_0\;+\;a_1\;+\;...\;+\;a_{n-1}\;+\;a_n)\;{\ast}\;2$ while the standard squaring algorithm reduces multiplication instructions by the fact $S_{ij}\;=\;x_i\;{\ast}\;x_j\;=\;S_{ij}$. Experimental results show that the proposed squaring method is 25% faster than that in MIRACL.

  • The main functions of containment boom for marine floating debris are to prevent spreading of the marine floating debris and to effectively collect the trash skimmer. The design characteristics of containment boom for marine floating debris in wave, current and wind are investigated. The response of a containment boom on the current is a function of a number of parameters, such as geometric characteristics, buoyance/weight ratio and towing velocity. To understand the relationship between these design parameters more clearly, a series of tests with three models with the variation of current speed and gap ratio was conducted. The model tests results are developed to new numerical equation that is tension prediction method of containment boom for marine floating debris. Also its is compared with open sea experimental results.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify factors influencing nurses' intention to care for COVID-19 patients based on the theory of planned behavior, and to test the moderating effect of perceived behavior control between attitude, subjective norms, and nurses' intention to care. Methods: The participants were 167 nurses working at two designated hospitals for infectious diseases located in J and C city, South Korea. Data were collected from October 10th to 25th, 2020, and analyzed using independent t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The moderating effect was analyzed using the Process Macro model 1 (95% confidence interval, 10,000 bootstrapping), and a simple slope analysis was performed to identify the moderating effect of perceived behavior control. Results: The factors affecting nurses' intention to care for patients with COVID-19 were attitude toward the behavior (β=.32, p<.001) and perceived behavior control (β=.37, p<.001) in model 1, attitude toward the behavior (β=.28, p<.001) and perceived behavior control (β=.36, p<.001), and perspective taking (β=.26, p<.001) in model 2. The explanation power of this model was 65.0% (F=18.41, p<.001). The moderating effect of perceived behavioral control was statistically significant in the relationship between subjective norms and intention to care for patients with COVID-19 (F=16.37, p<.001). In the simple slope analysis, the reinforcement effect was greatest when the level of perceived behavioral control was at the mean (95% CI=0.46~0.67) and high (95% CI=0.70~1.08). Conclusion: Developing and applying a training program that enhances confidence and improves empathy is necessary to increase nurses' intention to care for COVID-19 patients.

  • Despite the importance of prenatal nutrition, many studies find inadequate calcium intake among pregnant women. The purpose of this study was to investigate the value of the Theory of Planned Behavior in explaining the intentions and the actual consumption of milk among pregnant women participating in or eligible for WIC. A cross-sectional survey was conducted to collect information regarding attitudes, subjective norms, perceived control, milk allocation within the family, intentions and consumption of milk. The survey questionnaire was developed using open-ended questions and interviews with 112 pregnant women. One-hundred-eighty women recruited from prenatal clinics completed the survey questionnaire. Multiple regression was used separately to investigate the association of factors to intentions and to the consu-mption of milk, as proposed in the theory. Milk allocation within the family was used as an exploratory variable to explain milk consumption. Study findings revealed that all three factors, attitudes, subjective norms and perceived control contributed to the model in explaining intentions (explained variance : 36.2%), with perceived control being most important. For milk consumption, intentions and perceived control were related significantly to actual consumption, while milk allocation within the family was not (explained variance : 44.6%). These findings suggest that perceived control is important in understanding both intentions and milk consumption, providing empirical evidence for the Theory of Planned Behavior. With respect to the role of perceived control, more strong evidence was provided in explaining intentions. Findings suggest that educational interventions to increase milk consumption among pregnant women should incorporate strategies to enhance the perception of control, and to strengthen positive attitudes and to elicit social support from significant other. • A proposal of gene transfer scheme from diploid to hexaploid in oats was described. The main idea of this scheme are (1) use Avena magna which has two genomes partially in common with two genomes of the hexaploid Avena sativa or a common genome and the rest genomes partially commonn, and which lead to more regular pairing between them rather than AABB genome type to get 6x-amphiploid as a bridge between ploidy level. Cross between Avena strigosa and Avena magna is compatible and further give 42% seed set, (2) extract tetraploid derivatives which have in corporated desired genes from Avena strigasa to Avena magna, (3) Synthetic petaploid provide 2n=21 chromosome number in female gametes, which lead to complete pairing or nearly so in progenies with Avena sativa, (4) eventually homozygous lines will be produced by selfing the heterozygous (regarding to$A^{As}$ genome) at final step.

  • In the present, the formation of shear band under a simple shear deformation is investigated using a rate-independent elastic-plastic constitutive relations. Moreover, the strain gradient terms are incorporated to obtain a non-local plastic constitutive relation, which in turn represented using combined two-back stress hardening model. Then, the continuum damage model is also included to the proposed model. The post-localization behavior are studied by introducing a small imperfection in a work piece. The strain gradient affects the shear localization significantly such that the intensity of shear band decreases as the strain gradient coefficient increases when the J2 flow theory is employed.

  • The effects of punch and blank shapes in the rectangular cup drawing process are examined experimentally to improve the formabilities. For this purpose, three blank shapes which are h-bl., G-bl., and T-bl., and five punch shape factors which are the ratios of two adjacent side lengths in rectangular cross section are adopted. The constructing methods of the three blank shapes are as follows. The h-bl. is designed by slip-line theory, and the G-bl. is selected for the similar shape to the punch. The T-bl. is obtained by the drawing method which is introduced in the technical references. The five punch shape factors are selected for length/width=1, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75 and 2. The experimental procedures are performed for all the above forming conditions to investigate and compare the formabilities. As a result, it is verified experimentally that the rectangular cups drawn by the h-bl. are more ideal than those drawn by G-bl. and T-bl.. They have not only higher limiting drawing ratio, more uniformity in drawn cup heights and more ideal thickness distributions, but also need relatively less maximum drawing forces.

  • In order to ferment D-xylose directly to ethanol, Yeasts capable of utilizing D-xylose as a sole carbon source and energy source were isolated from soil, sawdust and rotten woods. Among them, the yeast strain, which showed the best ability to produce ethanol, was identified as Candida sp. L-16 isolated from rotten woods. The optimal conditions for production of ethanol were 60rpm of agitation speed, 28j.deg.C of temperature, 4.5 of initial pH and 5% of D-xylose concentration. Ethanol production was reached to maximum state for 4 days culture. Under these optimal conditions, the maximum ethanol concentration and theoretical ethanol yield were 2.4%(v/v) and 74.4% of theoretical value, respectively.

  • Characteristics of reduction and carbidization for hematite ore with a wide size range have been investigated at high temperature(590∼64$0^{\circ}C$) under $H_2$ and $H_2$-CO gas mixtures. The apparent activation energy for reduction of hematite ore with H2 gas was found to be 20 kJ/mol. The weight loss by reduction was about 28% md the weight gain by carbidization was about 5%. The measured values of weight change were compared with those calculated from equation (3) & (5) and fairly good agreement was obtained. The rate of carbidization was increased with an decrease in temperature, particle diameter and gas ratio($H_2$/ CO). The free carbon was increased with decrease in gas ratio($H_2$/ CO). The rate of carbidization was increased with mixing of $H_2$ gas but this effect was not proportional to fraction of $H_2$ gas. It was also found that the rate of carbidization was the maximum in the $H_2$ gas fraction of 0.5. It is considered that $H_2$ plays a part as a catalyst for formation of iron carbide($Fe_3$C).

  • Wavelength converting devices with a ridge-type waveguide in periodically poled $MgO:LiNbO_3$ are made and characterized. The experimental results are compared with theoretical analysis on the effects of waveguide dimension and duty ratio of the periodically poled structure. To show the relationship of the conversion efficiency to those factors, a new measurement system is configured. That experimental results show that the center wavelength, normalized conversion efficiency and full width half maximum of the conversion efficiency curve are 1067.45 nm, 90.7%/$Wcm^2$ and 0.17 nm, respectively. Also, the estimated results of the duty period and full width half maximum of the conversion efficiency from theoretical calculations agreed well with experimental results with the errors of 0.016 ${\mu}m$ and 0.01 nm.
