  • Hospitality industry offers internship programs to the students who have studied hospitality related majors in a college, giving them opportunities to improve their executive ability through academic knowledge. However, it has been found that there are several issues against the purposes such as unconcern, work burden, inadequate reward, and discontent. In this respect, this study aims to suggest the advisable solutions to achieve the original purposes of an internship program by examining the effects of the perception of the internship program, anticipation for it, satisfaction with it, and job pursuit intentions after finishing it. Positive factors for the perception of internship training are businesses, allocation of departments, working environments, students abilities, and academical knowledge while its term and reward from it are not the influential factors. The positive perception of the internship training is influenced by affirmative importance-performance thinking, but positive job pursuit intentions is not affected by affirmative perception of the training.

  • A computational method of the Michell integral for water of finite depth is developed and the method makes use of the expansion of the hull form by the Legendre polynomial in both the longitudinal and the vertical directions. The wave resistance coefficient is given as a quadruple summation of the product of the shape factor and the hydrodynamic factor. The shape factor depends only upon the geometry of the hull form, and the hydrodynamic factor upon the depth-based Froude number and the ratios of the water depth and the draft to the ship length. Example calculations are done for the Wigley parabolic hull and the Series 60 $C_B$ 0.6, and the comparison of our results with the existing experimental data is shown.

  • This paper proposes a fuel cell education framework installed on a Metaverse environment, which is to reduce the burden of education costs and improve the effect of education or learning. This Meta-Fuel cell platform utilizes the Unity 3D Web and enables not only theoretical education but also hands-on training. The platform was designed and developed to accommodate a variety of unit education contents, such as ppt documents, videos, etc. The platform, therdore, integrates ppt and video demonstrations for theoretical education, as well as software content "STACK-Up" for hands-on training. Theoretical education section provides specialized liberal arts knowledge on hydrogen, including renewable energy, hydrogen economy, and fuel cells. The software "STACK-Up" provides a hands-on practice on assembling the stack parts. Stack is the very core component of fuel cells. The Meta-Fuelcell platform improves the limitations of face-to-face education. It provides educators with the opportunities of non-face-to-face education without restrictions such as educational place, time, and occupancy. On the other hand, learners can choose educational themes, order, etc. It provides educators and learners with interesting experiences to be active in the metaverse space. This platform is being applied experimentally to a education project which is to develop advanced manpower in the fuel cell industry. Its improvement is in progress.

  • Both in the East and the West, the most classical question in political philosophy was 'what is truly a good life?' 'Good life' and 'good politics' are thus essentially tied together. Mencius (孟子, B.C385-303/302) was not exception to this belief. It is not an exaggeration that his Mencius, the treatise that encapsulates his whole views, begins and ends with good life and good politics. He began with new definitions of good life and politics and the rest elaborates why they are so. This paper attempts to systematically approach to what Mencius thinks as a good life in terms of political thoughts. Confucius, his intellectual mentor, asserted that the most humane human life is a civilized life and it means to realize the value of 'Yin (仁: Grace)' and thus set his good life from previous ones. Mencius concurred that Confucius's explication of the good life was right. Moreover, he argued that to realize this, political practice should follow. The 'good life' for Mencius consists of 1) the life in which the ruler does not monopolize joy but shares it with people, that is '$Y{\breve{o}}mindongrak$(與民同樂)' or '$Y{\breve{o}}minhaerak$(與民偕樂)' and 2) the life, based on this political foundation, that pursues the life of 'Five Ethics (五倫)' in which each individual member of society has its share in it. Mencius discussed about 'Four Virtues (四德)', the essential goodness of human, confirmed by 'Four Clues (四端)' to talk about the possibility of realizing the good life. On the other hand, he devised the political device of '$YinJ{\breve{o}}ng$ (仁政: Gracious Politics)' as a practical tool for it. Furthermore, he asserted 'Good people theory (養民論)' as the first condition for the good politics, '$YinJ{\breve{o}}ng$' and 'Education of people theory (敎民論)' as the final one. As Mencius inherited Confucius effort for a good life with the theory of '$YinJ{\breve{o}}ng$', the so-called Zhuxi scholars inherited his as 'Sugichiin (修己治人: cultivate yourself and then order society)' after 1500.

  • A potential-based panel method is presented for the analysis of a partially or supercavitating two-dimensional hydrofoil at a finite submergence beneath a free surface, treating without approximation the effects of the finite Froude number and the hydrostatic pressure. Free surface sources and normal dipoles are distributed on the foil and cavity surfaces, their strength being determined by satisfying the kinematic and dynamic boundary conditions on the foil-cavity boundary. The cavity surface is determined iteratively as a part of the solution. Numerical results show that the wave profile is altered significantly due to the presence of the cavity. The buoyancy effect due to the hydrostatic pressure, which has usually been neglected in most of the cavitating flow analysis, is found playing an important role, especially for the supercavitating hydrofoil; the gravity field increases the cavity size in shallow submergence, but decreases it when deeply submerged, while the lift reduces at all submergence depth.

  • Experimental magnetization-temperature curves for melt-spun ribbons of amorphous alloys (Dy$\_$0.33/Fe$\_$0.67/)$\_$1-x/B$\_$x/(x=0 ,0.05, 0.1, and 0.15) and (Sm$\_$0.33/Fe$\_$0.67/)$\_$1-x/B$\_$x/(x=0, 0.01, 0.02, and 0.03) (in atomic fraction) are fitted with theoretical equations based on the mean field theory in order to calculate exchange couplings between constituent elements as a function of the B content. In the case of the DyFe$_2$-B system, the sign of the exchange coupling between Dy and Fe is negative, indicating that the magnetization direction of Dy is antiparallel to that of Fe. The sign of the other two couplings are positive indicating a parallel alignment. The exchange coupling between Fe ions are greatest, while that between Dy ions is negligible. In the case of the SmFe$_2$B alloys, the sign of all the couplings are positive, indicating ferromagnetic coupling between the spins. The exchange couplings between Fe ions, and Fe and Sm are comparable to each other, but they are much greater than that between Sm ions. The high exchange coupling between Fe and Sm, which is considered to occur indirectly, is rather unexpected, but it is considered to be unique characteristics of amorphous Sm-Fe alloys. In both alloy systems, the exchange coupling between Fe ions increases with increasing B content. and this may be explained by the increase of the Fe-Fe separation with increasing B content. The exchange coupling between Fe and RE also increases with increasing B content. As the B content increases, the magnetization decreases over the whole temperature range, and the Curie temperature also decreases.

  • In order to design a safe and economic catamaran, it is of clime importance to rigorously estimate the dynamic loads on the catamaran in waves. In this paper, the 2-D strip method by Lee et al.[3] is. extended to a 3-D method which can estimate the dynamic loads(horizontal and vertical shear forses, and bending and torsional moments) acting on the center of the cross deck of the catamaran travelling in an arbitrary wave heading angle. The computational results are compared with Wahab et al's experimental data[2], and also 2-D and 3-D numerical results published. It is found that in general, the 3-D method give much improved correlations with the experimental data compared with 2-D methods, but there are some discrcrepancy between the same 3-D results used by the same theory. In order to improve the accuracy, the effect of the viscous flow and the rigid consideration of the forward speed effect seem to be necessary.

  • A computationally efficient numerical method based on potential flow is developed for time-domain simulation of the nonlinear free-surface flows around a 2-dimensional hydrofoil. This numerical method, namely, spectral/boundary-element method, is a mixed one of the high-order spectral method and the boundary-element method in time-domain. The high-order spectral method is used to calculate the nonlinear evolution of free-surface, and the boundary-element method is used to calculate the effects of the hydrofoil and the shed vortex. As application examples, nonlinear free-surface flows around a 2-dimensional hydrofoil which starts from the rest and translates near the free-surface with or without harmonic oscillations are calculated. Nonlinear/unsteady results of free-surface waves and hydrodynamic farces are shown and discussed. Particularly, the results of steady-state which are obtained as a special case of the present unsteady solution are compared with others' calculated and experimental results, and good agreements are observed.

  • Recently, copy number variations (CNV) of genes or genomic segments have been intensively studied and various analysis methods have been developed. In this study, quantitative oligonucleotide ligation assay (qOLA) was applied to investigate CNV of KIT gene in the Landrace breed. A combined assay using qOLA and pyrosequencing, 6 genotype classes, I1/I1 or I3/i (IBe), I1/I2 or I3/IP, I1/I3, I1/IP or I2/i (IBe), I2/I2and I2/IP, were identified from 44 Landrace pigs. Genotype assignment using grouping features of measurements on a scatter plot showed 100% agreement with those using a statistical assignment by PROC FASTCLUS procedure implemented in the SAS package. Two versions (3100 and 3130) of ABI sequencers gave the same genotyping results, indicating there was no influence on qOLA by different versions of instrument, however, the means of standard deviation and coefficient of variation from the qOLA on a ABI 3130 (2.33 and 4.10) was lower than those from the qOLA on a ABI 3100 (2.67 and 4.81). Effect of proteinase K treatment on the PCR product followed by qOLA was very clear because noise peaks were disappeared and the observed ration fit better to the reference ratio corresponding to each genotype.

  • A non-quadratic anisotropic strain rate potential was introduced as a conjugate potential of the yield stress potential Yld2000-2d to describe anisotropic behavior of sheet metals, in particular, aluminum alloy sheets under plane stress state. This strain-rate potential takes into account the anisotropic yield stresses and R-values measured along the directions measured at 0, 45 and 90 degrees from the rolling direction, as well as the balanced biaxial yield stress and strain-rate ratio. The convexity of the strain-rate potential was completely proven. The strain-rate potential was applied for two anisotropic aluminum alloy sheets, AA6022-T4 and AA2090-T3. The results verified that the strain rate potential properly described the anisotropic behavior of aluminum alloy sheets and was closely conjugate of Yld2000-2d under the plane stress state.
