  • In general, the product is used under several circumstances including environmental and usage conditions. According to the circumstances, the product has various performance degradation processes. In order to optimize the lifecycle of product usage, it is important to observe the degradation process and make suitable decisions on product operations. However, there are not much research works in evaluating the degree of product degradation based on product usage data. Recently, due to emerging ICT (Information and Communication Technology) technologies, it becomes possible to get the product usage data. Based on the gathered data, it is possible to analyze the degree of product degradation. The analysis of product usage data can improve product use and product design with advanced decisions. To this end, this study addresses one approach based on FMEA/FMECA method, called PDMCA (Performance, Degradation Modes and Criticality Analysis) for evaluating product degradation status and making suitable decisions.

  • While the goal of new IT adoption in small and medium sized firms is to choose an optimal system to fit with their own environments and conditions, that of IT post-adoption usage is to fully implement new IT and maximize their benefits from it. Therefore, the decision-making environments of new IT adoption is definitely different from those of post-adoption. Also, The direct experience of IT usage can provide some learning effect and the change of users' beliefs on new IT. From this point of view, this study attempts to figure out the differences of influencing factors on IOS usage intention between adopters and non-adopters. The results show that there are clear differences of influencing factors between two groups. Non-adopter group shows that perceived financial cost and ability of use have significant influences on IOS usage intention, while relative advantage and perceived risk in adopter group have statistically significant influences on post-adoption usage of IOS.

  • Purpose: This study is to analyze the characteristics of energy usage in apartment houses that had built for 20 years recently in capital area and the correlation between the characteristics of energy usage and the regulation of energy efficiency in building. Method: It is investigated 264 apartment sites having been built since 1991 where 312,071 houses live. The sites were listed on Naver map. Quantities of energy usages in the sites were searched in a portal, Green Together being operated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The appraisal report of building energy in the portal is recording usage quantity of gas energy, district cooling & heating energy, electric energy, total energy, 1st gas energy, 1st district cooling & heating energy, 1st electric energy, 1st total energy, etc. Result: Analyzing the average of total energy usage from 1991 to 2012, the average in 2001, 2008 each was reduced more than 10 percent compared to the previous year. It was analyzed that the reduction was relevant to building energy-saving design criterion which have been tightened more than before.

  • The Korean government is in the establishment process of plan for managing fishing effort by setting up the maximum fishing gear usage per fishery type for the recovery of fishery resources, for the settlement of disputes between fishery sectors over fishing gears, and for the stability of fishing business condition. Especially in the setting up of the maximum fishing gear usage, economic standards as well as biological standards are being considered as a significant factor to promote the sustainable and economically viable development of fisheries. This study is, thus, to analyze the optimal economic fishing gear usage ($E_{MEY}$) as the most economically efficient one for the coastal snow crab gillnet fishery, one of the most controversial sectors in establishing the maximum fishing gear usage. The data of logbooks per trip were used for concentrating on the estimation of $E_{MEY}$ per trip because it was considered there were limitations of data available for analyses. As a finding drawn from the analyses, the optimal economic trap usage ($E_{MEY}$) of coastal snow crab gillnet vessels per trip has to be decreased by about 13%. That is, reducing the trip gillnet usage up to the level of $E_{MEY}$ can lead to the reduction of trip fishing costs, thereby resulting in the increased trip profits.

  • The Internet is becoming a basic need for many individuals globally in this digital age. The youths became more active online than before, with the majority relying on different platforms to communicate and interact with peers. Saudi Arabia is one of the nations where internet usage is high, with an increasing number of active internet users. The youth in Saudi Arabia are engaged in various online platforms. However, they lack adequate knowledge about cybersecurity and the dangers of internet usage, which exposes them to the risk of falling victims to cybercriminals. The most common dangers of internet usage include viruses, malware, phishing, and hacking, compromising users' sensitive information. Increased awareness of these potential threats helps protect Internet users and secure their data. The understanding of the dangers of Internet usage among youths varies across countries. In this regard, our study explores the risks of internet usage among youth in Saudi Arabia compared to the United States, South Africa, and New Zealand.

  • Human lifestyle is affected by the agricultural development in the last 12,000 years ago. The development of agriculture is one of the reasons that global population surged. To ensure sufficient food production for supporting human life, pesticides as a more effective and economical tools, are extensively used to enhance the yield quality and boost crop production. This study investigated the factors that affect crop production and whether the factors of pesticide usage are the most important factors in crop production using the dataset from Kaggle that provides information based on crops harvested by various farmers. Logistic regression is used to investigate the relationship between various factors and crop production. However, the logistic regression is unable to deal with predictors that are related to each other and identifying the greatest impact factor. Therefore, causal discovery is applied to address the above limitations. The result of causal discovery showed that crop condition is greatly impacted by the estimated insects count, where estimated insects count is affected by the factors of pesticide usage. This study enhances our understanding of the influence of pesticide usage on crop production and contributes to the progress of agricultural practices.

  • This study empirically examined the differences in degrees of product or process innovations according to the activation forms of all knowledge management (KM) processes (i.e., socialization, internalization, externalization, and combination), which are influenced by the usage patterns of management control systems (MCS)(i.e., interactive and diagnostic usage patterns). We empirically investigated and identified the links among usage patterns of MCS, the activation forms of KM processes, and the kinds of innovation promoted. Under high competitive conditions, it was found that the interactive usage of MCS is relatively more preferred and enhanced. However, when environmental uncertainty is high, it was shown that the diagnostic use of MCS is more emphasized. Thus, it is evident that the use patterns of MCS are determined by environmental conditions. From the results of this study, it was suggested that under high interactive use of MCS, the activation of socialization and internalization is more enhanced than the facilitation of externalization. It was also observed that when both interactive and diagnostic usage of MCS are high, KM processes are more activated and strengthened. The results indicated that under high activation of KM processes, product innovation as well as process innovation are more frequently occurred. Finally, the results of this study suggested that according to the levels of innovation openness, major innovations are more frequently occurred and promoted than minor innovations.

  • The spectrum usage fee has been imposed on spectrum users. The objective of the fee is spectrum management, so it is important to utilize it efficiently. Our study focused on how to efficiently utilize the spectrum usage fee. For this purpose it tried to found what the preconditions are for the efficient utilization, and analyzed current execution. The study showed that it did not comply with those preconditions, and produced policy recommendations. The authors expect that policy recommendations this study brought up will contribute to improve the policy process how to collect and use the spectrum usage fee.

  • This study focuses on influencing factors of TAM on personality, subjective norm and then examines the relationship between influencing factors such as KMS usage and system performance. The survey was collected from KMS users by e-mail and on-line questionnaire. Finally, 206 questionnaires were chosen for the analysis of data. It was analyzed by SPSS and AMOS for the frequency analysis, reliability analysis, CFA(Confirmatory Factor Analysis) and SEM(Structural Equation Modeling). The results were as follows. First, subjective norm is found to be especially important to KMS usage. Second, Extraversion positively moderated the relationship between subjective norm and perceived usefulness. Third, KMS usage is significant to personal performance such as knowledge growth, decision making and the ability of problem solving. This study proposed that the usage of Knowledge Management System positively contributes to the improvement of personal performance.
