Development of a continuous electrolytic system with an ion exchange membrane for pH-control with only one discharge of electrolytic solution and its characteristics (단일 전해액 배출만을 가지는 pH조절용 연속식 이온 교환막 전해 시스템의 개발과 그 특성)

  • In order to produce only a pH-controlled solution without discharging any unwanted solution, this work has developed a continuous electrolytic system with a pH-adjustment reservoir being placed before an ion exchange membrane-equipped electrolyzer, where as a target solution was fed into the pH-adjustment reservoir, some portion of the solution in the pH-adjustment reservoir was circulated through the cathodic or anodic chamber of the electrolyzer depending on the type of the ion exchange membrane used, and some other portion of the solution in the pH-adjustment reservoir was discharged from the electrolytic system through the other counter chamber with its pH being controlled. The internal circulation of the pH-adjustment reservoir solution through the anodic chamber in the case of using a cation exchange membrane and that through the cathodic chamber in the case of using an anion exchange membrane could make the solution discharged from the other counter chamber effectively acidic and basic, respectively. The phenomena of the pH being controlled in the system could be explained by the electro-migration of the ion species in the solution through the ion exchange membrane under a cell potential difference between anode and cathode and its consequently-occurring non-charge equilibriums and electrolytic water- split reactions in the anodic and cathodic chambers.

Reduction Effect of Microorganisms by Nano Plasma ion (NPi) (Nano Plasma ion (NPi)에 의한 미생물 제어)

  • The bactericidal effect of nano plasma ion (NPi) which was generated by NPi was analyzed using different kinds of microorganisms, exposure times, chamber sizes, ion amounts and distance. As the result of Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhimurium, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis were shown different in decrement. Gram-negative bacteria E. coli showed the highest percentage (96.57%) and Gram-positive bacteria B. subtilis which produced spore has the lowest percentage (57.41%). From the exposure time of NPi most of the microorganisms were extinct at an early stage. According to the size of the chamber we compared the loss of E.coli and the experiment result shown, analyzed NPi using 5 chambers $0.005m^3$ to $30m^3$ for 2 hr, that when volume of the chamber increased, saturation ion and bactericidal effect was decreased. In addition, an NPi generator installed in the $1m^3$ chamber investigated the decrement of E. coli. Saturation ion concentration increased with decrement. Finally, E. coli showed a similar reduction according to the distance from NPi generator.

  • We describe an ion-surface scattering apparatus newly developed to investigate the reactive scattering process of low-energy alkali-metal ions at surfaces. The apparatus consists of an alkali-metal ion gun that is rotatable by 360°, a quadrupole mass spectrometer (QMS) with an ion energy analyzer, a sample manipulator with a heating-and-cooling stage, and an ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) chamber that houses these components. Preliminary experimental results obtained from the apparatus are presented on angular and energy distributions of the ions scattered from clean Pt(111) and water-adsorbed Pt surfaces.

  • Generally, the integrated system using ion beam consists of 4 major parts, which are SEM, FIB, nano stage, and chamber. Among them, the nano stage and the chamber are designed and manufactured. The whole systems are integrated. Also, FE models are built to perform modal analyses of each part and the whole integrated system with a commercial program. Through these analyses, it is found that each part and the integrated system are very safe against vibrations including external excitations from ground and any others, because their natural frequencies are much larger than frequencies of external excitations. Also, isolation of ground induced vibration is considered.

  • This research is the method that develops the efficient Source Head and the performance of Ion Implanter. Source Head is used during 20 days because Source Head's life time is different from the life time of most components. Components which is replaced to remake the Source Head is very expensive, and moreover, the above of 50% is used with one time. In this research, as we applied the influx method of the atom in aerial distributed method, obtained the effect which suppresses the portion which occurs with loss of thermion and is a possibility of lowering the pressure of the Arc. And then We it will be able to suppress be imbrued of the Chamber.

  • 최근 환경문제가 많이 제기되면서 친환경적 운송수단인 자전거 개발과 관련하여 다양한 기술개발이 이루어지고 있다. 그 중 고부가가치의 서스펜션 포크의 프레임에 고기능성 표면처리로 Arc ion plating deposition system (AIPDS)을 이용하여 부식, 내마모 특성이 뛰어난 TiN 박막을 증착시켰다. AIPDS는 기존의 arc system과 달리 다원계 소재 코팅 공정조건 확립을 위하여 chamber wall에 2개의 rectangular type sputter source를 장착하고 소재의 pre-treatment 용 linear type ion source를 설치하였다. 장비의 Chamber 중앙에는 pipe형 arc cathode를 설치하였으며, 그 주위를 anode 역할을 하는 copper 코일로 감아 이는 발생한 arc를 target인 cathode 축을 중심으로 방향성을 가지고 회전하여 진행 할 수 있도록 유도 하였다. 이 시스템에서 증착된 TiN 박막은 bias 전압 변화에 따른 박막의 구조 및 물성을 평가하였다. XRD 장비를 통하여 TiN 박막의 상분석을 진행하였고, 마모테스터, 원자현미경, 마이크로 비커스 경도기 등을 이용하여 기계적 특성을 평가하였다.

An Intercomparison of Atmospheric SO$_{2}$ Measurement Techniques (대기중 이산화황 관측 방법들의 실측 비교 연구)

  • An intercomparison experiment was implemented to assess the uncertainties and precisions om atmospheric SO$_{2}$ measurement techiques including a pulsed fluorescence (P-F), a diffusion-scrubber /ion chromatography (D-I), and a mist-chamber/ion chromatography (M-I). Each of those three techniques was investigated by researchers at Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, respectively. The concentrations of atmospheric SO$_{2}$ were determined concurrently using three independent measurement techniques at the Seoul National University campus, Korea during Nov.22 to Dec.2, 1995. While the results from the P-F and D-I techinques showed the very close agreements (within +-5%) throughout the experiment period, M-I technique showed systematically smaller values (up to 30%) than the other two techniques. Although sources of larger discrepancy between different techniques were mot identified, the lower SO$_{2}$ values of the M-I method may be related to the errors associated with sample collection effciency, mass flow rate measurements, and standardization of ion chromatography.

  • In this study, we investigated the effects of variously configured magnets on the characteristics of the plasmas to enhance plasma uniformity and density of an inductively coupled plasma source. As the magnets, Helmholtz type axial electromagnets and various multi-dipole magnets types around the chamber wall were used. To characterize the plasma as a function of the combination of the magnets and magnetic field strengths, ion density, electron temperature, and plasma potential were measured using an electrostatic probe along the chamber diameter for Ar plasmas. The measured maximum ion densities were $8$\times$10^{ 11}$$cm^{-3}$ with 600W inductive power and at 5mTorr of operational pressure and the uniformity of ion density was less than 5.9% at 2mTorr of operational pressure. The combination of an optimized multi-dipole magnet type and an axial electromagnet showed the lowest electron temperature (3eV) and plasma potential ($34V{p}$ )

  • 본 논문에서는 비정질 반도체 및 절연체의 etching을 RIE를 사용하여 etching 조건을 결정하는 요인(chamber pressure, gas flow rate, rf power, 온도 등)들을 변화시켜 실험하였고, gas는 비정질 실리콘 박막의 reactive ion etching에 주로 사용되는 $CF_4,\; CF_4+O_2,\;CCl_2F_2,\;CHF_3\;gas$ 등을 사용하였다. 여기서 실리콘 박막의 식각은 $CF_4,\;CCl_2F_2,\;gas$를 그리고 insulator 막인 SiNx 박막의 식각은 $CF_4+O_2,\;CHF_3\;gas$를 사용하였다. 특히 $CCl_2F_2$ gas는 insulator 막인 SiNx 박막과의 식각 selectivity가 6:1로서 우수하기 때문이다. 정확한 control에 의해 높은 수율 (Yield) 을 얻을 수 있어 cost를 절감할 수 있다.

  • In this paper, we find a method to improve ignitability using methanol which is prospective as an alternative fuel. The constant volume combuster is divided into main chamber and sub-cham¬ber. These two chambers are linked by an adapter which is shaped like a cup. We also compare CDI to HIS that is revised in our laboratory for making a scrutiny into the effects of ignition char¬acteristics. Besides, we analyze a flame propagation process in the main and sub-chamber through taking pictures 10, 000 frames per second by high speed camera at the state being fabricated quartz glass aside main and sub-chamber.
