In order to obtain an industrial strain with higher L(+)-lactic acid yield, the wild type strain Rhizopus oryzae PW352 was mutated by means of Nitrogen ions implantation (l5 Kev, $7.8 \times 10^{14} - 2.08 \times 10^{15} ions/Cm^2$ and two mutants RE3303 and RF9052 were isolated. After 36 h shake-flask cultivation, the concentration of L(+)-lactic acid reached 131-136 g/l, the conversion rate of glucose was as high as 86%-90% and the productivity was 3.61 g/l.h. It was almost a 75% increase in lactic acid production compared with the wild type strain. Maximum fermentation temperature of RF9052 was increased to $45^{\circ}C$ from original $36^{\circ}C$. At the same time, the preferred range of fermentation temperature of RF9052 was broadened compared with PW352.

Enhanced ICRF (Ion Cyclotron Range of Frequency) ion heating of H-mode D(H) plasma will be tried in 2011 KSTAR experimental campaign. Minority heating is a main ion heating scheme in the ICRF. Its efficiency increases as the hydrogen minority ratio increases in deuterium plasmas. And it should be sustained at a lower level than the critical minority ratio. Consequently, it is important to elevate the critical ratio to maximize ion heating and it is possible by increasing the ion temperature or parallel wave number (k${\parallel}$) of the antenna. Increasing the k${\parallel}$ is not a good approach since the coupling efficiency decreases exponentially with regard to k${\parallel}$ as well. So the remaining method is to increase ion temperature by using NB (Neutral Beam). Ion heating fraction of NB increases as the electron temperature increases. Therefore, we will try to heat electron by using ECH together with NB ion heating before ICRF power injection. The ICRF heating efficiency will be compared with respect to several NB+ECH+ICRF heating combinations through several diagnostics such as XICS (Xray Imaging Crystal Spectroscopy), CES (Charge Exchange Spectroscopy) and neutron measurement. The theoretical background and the experimental results will be presented in more detail in the conference.
The behavior of optical properties of ion exchanged glasses was investigated inthis study. The used glasses were soda-lime-silica glasses that were produced by float process. The coloring effect by Ag colloids is measrued by spectral transmittance, color coordinates, dominant wavelength and excitation purity resulting from silver ions exchange of glasses immersed into the mixed molten salt with AgNO3. Ion exchange coloring of glasses made it possible to obtain glasses with a range from yellow to brown, and transmittance was decreased with increasing the amount of Ag colloids which reduced from Ag+ions. Also, obtain from yellow to reddish brown with increasing purity by reheating treatment in air for ion exchanged glasses. The size of Ag colloids are 0.02~0.1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ with ion exchange conditions.
For the purpose of development of a liquid membrane permeator which separates metal ions from aqueous solutions continuously and effectively, a continuous membrane permeator with the membrane solution trapped between extraction and stripping phases by two micro-porous hydrophilic films was manufactured. Experimental researches on the separation of zinc ion from aqueous solutions were performed in the liquid membrane permeator with 30 vol % D2EHPA solution in kerosine as liquid membrane. As results, the liquid membrane permeator separates zinc ion from aqueous solutions continuously and effectively in the wide range of operating conditions. A simple mass transfer rate model using equilibrium constant of the extraction reaction for the system used were proposed, and the model was compared with experimental results of separation of zinc ion in the permeator. And the effects of operating factors, such as space time, pH of extraction solution, extraction temperature, on the separation rate of zinc ion in the permeator were experimentally examined.

In this study, to confirm the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion is affected by the concentration of NaCl solution, capacity of voltage, time of an electric current, the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion in concrete was investigated through an electrochemical accelerated test. and the results of these test were compared with the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion by test of sodium chloride solution digestion. As the results of this study, the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion wasn't affected by the concentration of NaCl solution, capacity of voltage, time of an electric current within the range of this study and was similar to the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion by test of sodium chloride solution digestion.
We investigate nematic liquid crystal (NLC) alignment on ion-beam exposed ZnO films. ZnO is optically transparent material in the visible range. We optimized the deposition parameters such as deposition temperature and gas ratio for high transmittance and resistivity. Using ion-beam treated ZnO films, LC cells are fabricated and the conditions such as exposure energy and time for uniform alignment are found. The NLC molecules align parallel to the ion-beam exposure direction. The electro-optic and response characteristics show the possibility of application of this method in liquid crystal display.
Aluminum substrates are irradiated with chromium ions and the steam condensation heat transfer performance on these surfaces is examined. Filmwise condensation is induced on the surface of aluminum specimens irradiated with chromium ion dose of less than $10^{16}ions/cm^2$ while dropwise condensation occurs on the specimens irradiated with chromium ion dose of $5{\times}10^{16}ions/cm^2$ in the range of ion energy from 70 to 100 keV. The heat transfer coefficient of the surfaces on which dropwise condensation occurs appeared to be approximately twice as much as the prediction by Nusselt's film theory. In a durability test, dropwise condensation lasts over six months and the heat transfer coefficient is also maintained.
A new method for the simultaneous determination of low molecular weight amines and quaternary ammonium ions based on the separation by IC with a suppressor and the detection by MS with ESI has been developed. The method has been applied to the analysis of a mixture containing tetramethylammonium ion, tetraethylammonium ion, tetrapropylammonium ion, triethanolamine, trimethylamine and triethylamine. The constituents were separated by isocratic elution using an IonPac CS17 column, a cation-exchange column, and detected by conductivity and mass spectrometry. The newly developed method for the six components demonstrated that the repeatability in terms of relative standard deviation for three measurements was in the range of 0.1-0.5 %. The detection limits were between 0.2 and $0.9{\mu}g/mL$ by the IC/ESI-MS.
Transparent conducting ZnO films were deposited to apply DSSC Substrate on glass substrates at $500^{\circ}C$ by ionbeam-assisted deposition. Crystallinity, microstructure, surface roughness, chemical composition, electrical and optical properties of the films were investigated as a function of deposition parameters such as ion energy, and substrate temperature. The microstructure of the polycrystalline ZnO films on the glass substrate were closely related to the oxygen ion energy, arrival ratio of oxygen to Zinc Ion bombarded on the growing surface. The main effect of energetic ion bombardment on the growing surface of the film may be divided into two categories; 1) the enhancement of adatom mobility at low energetic ion bombardment and 2) the surface damage by radiation damage at high energetic ion bombardment. The domain structure was obtained in the films deposited at 300 eV. With increasing the ion energy to 600 eV, the domain structure was changed into the grain structure. In case of the low energy ion bombardment of 300 eV, the microstructure of the film was changed from the grain structure to the domain structure with increasing arrival ratio. At the high energy ion bombardment of 600 eV, however, the only grain structure was observed. The electrical properties of the deposited films were significantly related to the change of microstructure. The films with the domain structure had larger carrier concentration and mobility than those with the grain structure, because the grain boundary scattering was reduced in the large size domains compared with the small size grains. The optical transmittance of ZnO films was dependent on a surface roughness. The ZnO films with small surface roughness, represented high transmittance in the visible range because of a decreased light surface scattering. By varying the ion energy and arrival ratio, the resistivity and optical transmittance of the films were varied from $1.1{\times}10^{-4}$ to $2.3{\times}10^{-2}{\Omega}cm$ and from 80 to 87%, respectively. The ZnO film deposited at 300 eV, and substrate temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ had the resistivity of $1.1{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ and optical transmittance of 85% in visible range. As a result of experiments, we provides a suggestition that ZnO thin Films can be effectively used as the DSSC substrate Materials.
Simulated waste liquid containing 50 ppm cobalt ion was t$\xi$sted by precipitate flotation using a sodium lauryl sulfate as a c collector. The effects of initial cobalt ion concentration, pH, surfactant concentration, flotation time, gas flow rate and foreign i ions on removal efficiency of cobalt ion were studied. Pretreatment of the waste liquid with 35% $H_2O_2$, prior to precipitate f flotation made shin of optimal flotation pH from the strong alkalinity to weak alkaline range and made a favorable flotation of c cobalt ion in wide range of pH. For the result of this experiment, 99.8% removal efficiency was obtained on the conditions of initial coball ion concentration 50 ppm, pH 9.5 gas flow rate 70 mllmin, flotation time 30 min. The simulate ion was fanned t to be the most harmful ion against removal of cobalt by precipitate flotation of the species which were tested The presence of 0.1 M of $SO_4^{2-}$ ion decreased remo,때 $\xi$폐iciency of cobalt to 90% while the cobalt were almost entirely removed in the a absence of sulfate ion.
