  • One of most important problems in the Monsoon Asia today is the production of rice paddy to meet the needs of the ever increasing population. Diversemeans are being employed to meet this demand, both by increasing productivity of existing farm land and by bringing further areas into cultivation. The primary step in either field is to ensure that there is sufficient moisture in the soil to suit the paddy, and at the same this means that excess moisture has to be drained off the land, while in others irrigat ion has to be employed to bring sufficient water to an area. In view of the fact that the project comprises a huge amount of earthwork, it can be carried out by extensive use of construction machinery in order to shorten the period. As farm ditch has a comparatively small section with shallow cutting depth, inaddition, there is lack of access road in the field, the excavation equipment with bulldozer or tracter-shovel (backhoe) type are not applicable because there are mostly adapted for the excavation of deep and wide section. Mini-backhoe with its bucket width not larger than 0. 3m, and width of blade not larger than 1. 00m seems to be more adaptable. About 80% of excavation of ditch section will be done by the machinery while the other 20% of excavation together with the finishing of the section are supposed to be done by man-power. The embankment of ditch section can be compacted by the crawler of backhoe when it is moving along the ditch for excavation. However, Lowland paddy field in the Monsoon Asia are made particulary in rain season, therefore, heavy machinery is not easy excavation for ditch. It is very important to know exact ground support power of the working site and select machines with corresponding ground pressure. Ground support power is variable subject to quality and water content of soil and therefore selection of machines should be made duly considering ground condition of the site at the time of construction works. Farm ditches dug and compacted by mannual labar are of poor quality and subject to destruction after one or two years of operation. On the other hand, excavation and compaction by bulldozer is not practical for ditches. Backboe is suitable for slope land, but this is required cycle time of bucket excavation and dumped out. If a small-scale farm ditch trencher adaptable to lowland paddy field is invented, such a machine could greatly accelerate the massive construction work envisaged in many countries and thus significantly speed up the most difficult part of irrigation development and management in Monsoon Asia.

  • Aiming at high-power and long-pulse operation up to 1000 s, some improvements have been made for both 2.45 GHz and 4.6 GHz lower hybrid (LH) systems during the recent 5 years. At first, the guard limiters of the LH antennas with graphite tiles were upgraded to tungsten, the most promising material for plasma facing components in nuclear fusion devices. These new guard limiters can operate at a peak power density of 12.9 MW/m2. Strong hot spots were usually observed on the old graphite limiters when 4.6 GHz system operated with power >2.0 MW [B. N. Wan et al., Nucl. Fusion 57 (2017) 102019], leading to a reduction of the maximum power capability. With the new limiters, 4.6 GHz LH system, the main current drive (CD) and electron heating tool for EAST, can be operated with power >2.5 MW routinely. Long-pulse operation up to 100 s with 4.6 GHz LH power of 2.4 MW was achieved in 2021 and the maximal temperature on the guard limiters measured by an infrared (IR) camera was about 540 ℃, much below the permissible value of tungsten material (~1200 ℃). A discharge with a duration of 1056 s was achieved and the 4.6 GHz LH energy injected into the plasma was up to 1.05 GJ. Secondly, the fully-active-multijunction (FAM) launcher of 2.45 GHz system was upgraded to a passive-active-multijunction (PAM), for which the density of optimum coupling was relatively low (below the cut-off value). Good coupling with reflection coefficient ~3% has been achieved with plasma-antenna distance up to 11 cm for the new PAM. Finally, in order to eliminate the effect of ion cyclotron range of frequencies (ICRF) wave on 4.6 GHz LH wave coupling, the location of the ICRF launcher was changed to a port that is located 157.5° toroidally from the 4.6 GHz LH system and is not magnetically connected.

  • The electrodes of commercialized lithium secondary batteries are manufactured through a wet coating process, and the drying process (DC) is a very important factor as to electrode production speed and process cost. In this study, silicon anodes were manufactured under high-temperature (180 ℃) and low-temperature (50 ℃) DC to investigate the quality and the electrochemical performance of Si-electrodes according to DC. High-temperature DC can quickly evaporate the solvent in the Si-electrode slurry, improving the electrode production rate. However, this also causes the electrode composite to peel off from the current collector. As a result, the Si-electrode's adhesion weakened, and the electrode coating's quality deteriorated. In addition, the Si-electrode manufactured under high-temperature was found to have a thicker composite material than the Si-electrode manufactured under low-temperature. Si-electrodes manufactured under high-temperature had higher sheet resistance and lower electrical conductivity than those manufactured under low-temperature. Consequently, the Si-electrode manufactured under low-temperature showed 152.5% superior cycle performance compared to the Si-electrode manufactured under high-temperature. (Discharge capacities of Si-electrodes manufactured under high-temperature and low-temperature DC were 844 and 1287 mAh g-1, respectively, after 300 cycles). Establishing the DC of Si-electrodes can easily provide new perspectives to improve the quality and stability of Si-electrodes.

  • This paper introduces ONLIS(Overlay Multicast Network for Live IPTV Service), a novel overlay multicast network optimized to deliver live broadcast IPTV stream. We analyzed IPTV reference model of ITU-T IPTV standardization group in terms of network and stream delivery from the source networks to the customer networks. Based on the analysis, we divide IPTV reference model into 3 networks; source network, core network and access network, ION(Infrastructure-based Overlay Multicast Network) is employed for the source and core networks and PON(P2P-based Overlay Multicast Network) is applied to the access networks. ION provides an efficient, reliable and stable stream distribution with very negligible delay while PON provides bandwidth efficient and cost effective streaming with a little tolerable delay. The most important challenge in live P2P streaming is to reduce end-to-end delay without sacrificing stream quality. Actually, there is always a trade-off between delay & stream quality in conventional live P2P streaming system. To solve this problem, we propose two approaches. Firstly, we propose DSPT(Distributed Streaming P2P Tree) which takes advantage of combinational overlay multicasting. In DSPT, a peer doesn't fully rely on SP(Supplying Peer) to get the live stream, but it cooperates with its local ANR(Access Network Relay) to reduce delay and improve stream quality. When RP detects bandwidth drop in SP, it immediately switches the connection from SP to ANR and continues to receive stream without any packet loss. DSPT uses distributed P2P streaming technique to let the peer share the stream to the extent of its available bandwidth. This means, if RP can't receive the whole stream from SP due to lack of SP's uploading bandwidth, then it receives only partial stream from SP and the rest from the ANR. The proposed distributed P2P streaming improves P2P networking efficiency.

  • This study is based on a coating method that provides utilization value as a micronised powder for cosmetic raw materials using natural minerals buried in Bonghwa, Gyeongsangbuk-do in Korea. The mineral powder name is called Buseok, and chemical name is pumice powder. The results of a study on the efficacy of cosmetics are reported by the development of particulate powder to assess the performance of this powder. First of all, in order to coat the surface of this powder with oil, aluminum hydroxide was coated on the particulate surface and then coated with alkylsilan. In addition, it was coated with vegetable oil to prevent condensation of the powder and increase the dispersion in the oil phase. First; the particle size of pumice powder was from 10 to 50mm having porous holes on the surface of the particles. Second; The components of this powder contained $SiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, $Fe_2O_3$, MgO, CaO, $K_2O_2$, $Na_2O$, $TiO_2$, $TiO_2$, MnO, $Cr_2O_3$, $V_2O_5$. Third: The particles of this powder have a planetary structure and are reddish-brown with porosity through SEM and TEM analysis. Fourth; the far-infrared radiation rate of this parabolic powder was $0.924{\mu}m$, and the radiative energy was $3.72{\times}102W/m^2$ and ${\mu}m$. In addition, the anion emission is 128 ION/cc, which shows that the coating remains unchanged. Based on these results, it is expected to be widely applied to basic cosmetics such as BB cream, cushion foundation, powderfect, and other color-coordinated cosmetics, sunblock cream, wash-off massage pack as an application of cosmetics. • Purpose: We try to calculate EDW-factor easily with the formula applies essential data of EDW-factor and evaluate the validity through a measurement. Materials and Methods: We used the given value of GSTT (Golden Segmented Treatment Table) for the calculation of the EDW-factor. As to the experimental device, 0.6 cc farmer-type ion-chamber, an electrometer and water- phantom were used. A measurement was made at the maximum dose depth of the photon beam energy 6 MV and 15 MV under the condition that SSD (Source to Surface Distance) was 100 cm. The angle of the EDW (Enhanced Dynamic Wedge) which we use in an experiment was 60 degree, 30 degree, 20 degree in the Y1-OUT direction. We used Eclipse planning system (Varian, USA) as RTP system and the EDW-factor was calculated about all fields and EDW direction. In order to show the EDW-factor feature, a measurement was made at the selected field that verify the influence of the dependability about X, Y jaw and off-axis field. Results: When we change the Y1 field, it influence on the EDW-Factor and measured value. But the error between measured values and calculated values was less than 1%. The experimental result indicated the tendency that the error of the result of calculation and measured value becomes smaller as the EDW angle become smaller whether the calculation point (measurement point) and iso-center are same or not. The influence of the field size and energy did not show up. We simulated with the same condition using the RTP system. And we found that it makes no difference between the MU which is calculated manually by applying the EDW-Factor obtained from the commercial program and the value which is calculated by using RTP system. Conclusion: We excluded fitting value from well-known EDW-Factor formula and calculated EDW-factor with the formula applies essential data of EDW-factor only. As a result, there are no significant difference between the measured value and calculated value and it showed errors less than 1%. Also, we implemented the commercial program to calculate EDW-Factor conveniently without measure a factor on each field.

  • In order to study the water pollution in Suyeong Bay, Busan, some chemical constituents were determined at 25 stations in the neap tides on 9 Aug. 1977 and spring tides on 30 Aug. 1977. Range and mean values of the constituents in the spring tides are as follows: $pH\;6.54\~8.06,\;7.54;$ electrical conductivity $0.413\~0.481\times10^5\;\mu\mho/cm,\;0.467\times10^5\;\mu\mho/cm;\;transparency\;0.2\~5.5m,\;2.2m;$ turbidity $1\~60ppm$, 14ppm, chlorosity $15.20\~18.11g/\ell,\;17.67g/\ell;$ fluoride ion $0.94\~1.03ppm$, 0.99ppm; dissolved oxygen $0.17\~7.60ppm$, 4.77ppm; sulfide $0\~0.46ppm$, 0.07ppm; chemical oxygen demand $1.20\~40.74ppm$, 6.11ppm; ammonia-nitrogen $0.060\~0.520ppm$, 0.180ppm; nitrite-nitrogen $0.001\~0.026ppm$, 0.009ppm; nitrate-nitrogen $0\~0.037ppm$, 0.014ppm; phosphate-phosphorus $0.002\~0.261ppm$, 0.050ppm; n-Hexane soluble $0.5\~5.4ppm$, 2.1ppm ; iron $1.0\~104.11\;ppb$, 24.15ppb ; copper $0\~27.45ppb$, 4.19ppb; lead $0\~2.50ppb$, 0.92ppb; zinc $0\~5.15ppb$, 1.47ppb ; cadmium $0\~0.26ppb$, 0.04ppb; and mercury $0.05\~0.37ppb$, 0.11ppb respectively. The variations of the contents of the chemical constituents in the spring tides were larger than in the neap tides. The contents of COD, sulfide, nutrient salts and heavy metals were the highest in the estuary of Suyeong River, and decreased in order of off Kwangan-Ri region, outer Bay and off Haeun-Dae region. The water quality in Suyeong Bay was particularly shown that the concentrations of COO, iron, copper and mercury were higher than those of other coastal aseas and deficiency in dissolved oxygen was observed in some parte of Suyeong Bay. In consideration of the relationship between the chlorosity and the concentrations of nutrient salts, COD and total heavy metals, water pollution of this area is considered due to the inflow of Suyeong River which was extremely polluted by sewage and industrial wastewaters.

  • For the purpose of finding new cathode materials for medium-temperature $(700\~800^{\circ}C)$ solid oxide fuel cells, $Gd_{0.8}Ca_{0.2}Co_{1-x}Fe_xO_3,\;(x=0.0\~0.5)$ are prepared, and their thermal stability and conductivity characteristics are investigated. Also, the cathodic activities are measured after the cathode layer being attached on CGO (cerium-gadolinium oxide) electrolyte disk. The X-ray analyses indicate that the materials prepared by calcining the citrate-gels at $800^{\circ}C$ have the orthorhombic perovskite structure without discernible impurities. The thermal stability of the undoped Co perovskite is so poor that it is decomposed to the individual binary oxide even at $1300^{\circ}C$. But the partially Fe-doped cobaltates exhibit a better thermal stability to retain their structural integrity up to $1400^{\circ}C$. The observation whereby both the undoped and Fe-doped cobaltates melt at ca. $1300^{\circ}C$ leads us to perform the electrode adhesion at <$1300^{\circ}C$. The cathodic activity of $Gd_{0.8}Ca_{0.2}Co_{1-x}Fe_xO_3,\;(x=0.0\~0.5)$, electrodes is superior to $La_{0.9}Sr_{0.1}MnO_3$, among the samples of $x=0.0\~0.5$, the x=0.2 cathode shows the best activity for the oxygen reduction reaction. It is likely that the Fe-doping provides a better thermal stability to the materials but in turn imparts an inferior cathodic activity, such that the optimum trade-off is made at x=0.2 between the two factors. The total electrical conductivity and ion conductivity of $Gd_{0.8}Ca_{0.2}Co_{1-x}Fe_xO_3$, are measured to be 51 S/cm and $6.0\times10^{-4}S/cm\;at\;800^{\circ}C$, respectively. The conductivity values illustrate that the materials are a mixed conductor and the reaction sites can be expanded to the overall electrode surface, thereby providing a better cathodic activity than $La_{0.9}Sr_{0.1}MnO_3$.

  • The optimal culture conditions in 500$m\ell$ flask suture, 5$\ell$ jar fermenter and 2,000 $\ell$ large stale culture were investigated to maximize the production of antibiotic on Rhizoctonia solani AC4, the causal agent of vegetables damping-off, by the strain Bacillus ehimensis YJ-37. Starch (1.5%) as a carbon source, peptone (0.6%) as a nitrogen source and MgC1$_2$(0.15%) as a metal ion in the medium containing N $a_2$HP $O_4$(0.3%) showed the highest production of the antibiotic(s) in a rotary shake (200 rpm). Optimal initial pH of the culture medium, culture temperature and culture time for the antibiotic(s) production were pH 8.0, 32$^{\circ}C$ and 54hrs, respertively. Under the optimal renditions in flask culture, cell growth and antifungal activity (clear zone size) were 1.42 $\times$ 10$^{8}$ cfu/$m\ell$ (21g-DCW/ $\ell$) and 13.9 mm, respectively. In 5 $\ell$ jar fermenter (medium 3 $\ell$), optimal air flow, agitation speed and culture time for the antibiotic(s) production were 2 vvm, 200 rpm and 48hrs, respectively. Under the optimal conditions in 5 $\ell$ jar fermenter, tell growth and antifungal activity were 2.06 $\times$ 10$^{8}$ cfu/$m\ell$ (30g-DCW/ $\ell$) and 13.4 mm, respectively. Under the culture conditions of air flow (30 vvm) and agitation speed (200 rpm) at 32$^{\circ}C$ for 10 days in 2,000 $\ell$ large scale culture (medium 1,800 $\ell$, pH 8.0), cell growth and antifungal activity were 0.81$\times$10$^{8}$ cfu/$m\ell$ (12g-DCW/ $\ell$) and 8.6 mm, respectively.
