In this study, we compared and analyzed the Arduino-based IoT coding environment, which is most frequently used in OSHW, and the microbit-based IoT coding environment developed and spread in the UK. The results show that a microbit-based educational environment can offer a variety of benefits. Although the basic problems are defined and compared, many differences occur. Microbit-based environment has less overhead than Arduino-based environment, which is effective for IoT coding education.
IoT is attracting attention as the development of the Internet and the spread of smart devices are rapidly increasing worldwide. As IoT is integrated into everyday life, the market is getting bigger. So, experts predict that IoT devices will grow to more than one trillion in a decade. Techniques related to IoT are also being developed steadily, and studies are underway to develop IoT in various fields. However, vendors launching IoT services do not interact with data from other platforms. Therefore, it is limited to growing into a big market by facing the obstacle called the silo phenomenon. To solve this problem, web technology attracts attention. Web technology can interact with data regardless of platform, and it can not only develop various services using the data, but also reduce unnecessary costs for developers. In this paper, we have studied a web - based open IoT system that can transmit data independently in real time to the IoT platform.
Industrial IoT applications, including smart factories, require two problem-solving to build data monitoring systems required by services from distributed IoT sensors (smart sensors). One is to overcome proprietary protocols, data formats, and hardware differences and to uniquely identify and connect IoT sensors, and the other is to overcome the problem of changing the server-side data storage structure and sensor data transmission format according to the addition or change of service or IoT sensors. The IEEE 1451.4 standard-based or IPMI specification-based smart sensor technology supports the development of plug-and-play sensors that solve the first problem. However, there is a lack of research that requires a second problem-solving, which requires support for the plug-in of IoT sensors into remote services. To propose a solution for the integration of these two problem-solving, we present a IoT sensor platform, a service system architecture, and a service plugin protocol for the MQTT-based IIoT application environment.
SW which controls IoT devices using wireless communication technology must operate without errors. In order for IoT devices to be widely used, the technical skills of engineers who design such software must be improved. Compared to designing the input / output SW of a single device, the SW Flowchart design and Java SW programming process that clearly define various input / output relations between the transmitter and the receiver are complicated. In this paper, we proposed a SW Flowchart design method for controlling IoT devices based on wireless communication. In this process, it is explained that the entire control algorithm is implemented through a problem division process. In addition, we proposed an educational method for programming the designed SW Flowchart into Java SW using Microbits, which are educational IoT devices. In the course to which this education method was applied, the results of satisfaction evaluation of students were analyzed, and the effectiveness of the IoT device control SW education method using Microbits was analyzed.

In this paper, we propose an well-organized lecture note for giving a better understanding on the Internet of Things (IoT) to people including non-computer majors without computing and communication knowledge. In recent years, the term 'IoT' has been popularized, and IoT will make a huge impact on our industries, societies, and environments. Although there are large amount of literature on presenting IoT from technological perspectives, few are published that are organized for teaching students having non-computer-related majors. Based on research and education experiences on IoT, we tried to make a lecture note focusing on the process of collecting data from everyday objects, transmitting and sharing data, and utilizing data to create new values for us. The proposed lecture note was employed in teaching a liberal arts class, and it was shown that students could have an understanding of what IoT really means and how IoT could change our world.
The convergence of education and technology has been emphasized, leading to the application of educational technology (EdTech) in the field of education. EdTech provides learner-centered, customized learning environments through various media and learning situations. In this paper, we designed hardware for EdTech-based educational tools for IoT security education in the field of cybersecurity education. The hardware is based on a dual microcontroller unit (MCU) within a single board, allowing for both attack and defense to be performed. To leverage various sensors in the Internet of Things (IoT), the hardware is modularly designed. From an educational perspective, utilizing EdTech in cybersecurity education enhances engagement by incorporating tangible physical teaching aids. The proposed research suggests that the design of IoT security education hardware can serve as a reference for simplifying the creation of a security education environment for embedded hardware, software, sensor networks, and other areas that are challenging to address in traditional education..
This paper deals with the process and requirements of a capstone design project performed by undergraduate students. We discuss about the preliminary study for the capstone design, the derivation of a subject, the level descriptor of the subject, and the system requirements. And then, we summarize the results of the capstone design project entitled as Microsoft Azure based IoT (Internet of Things) system which is performed by 4 undergraduate students during 10 months. This system is composed of a Zigbee sensor network, the TCP/IP Internet, an IoT server, and a smartphone application program, with which we can gather the sensor data and control actuators at the far away area.

The Internet of things (IoT) is a system of interrelated computed devices, digital machines and any physical objects which are provided with unique identifiers and the potential to transmit data to people or machine (M2M) without requiring human interaction. IoT devices can be used to monitor and control the electrical and electronic systems used in different fields like smart home, smart city, smart healthcare and etc. In this study we introduce four imaginary IoT devices as a learning support assistants according to students' dominant learning styles measured by Honey and Mumford Learning Styles: Activists, Reflectors, Theorists and Pragmatists. This research emphasizes the association between students' strong learning styles and a preference to appropriate IoT devices with specific characteristics. Moreover, different levels of IoT devices' architecture are clearly explained in this study where all the artificial devices are designed based on this structure. Data analysis of experiment were measured by the use of chi square test for association and research results showed the statistical significance of the estimated model and the impacts of each category over the model where we finally got accurate estimates for our research variables. This study revealed the importance of considering the students' dominant learning styles before inventing a new IoT device.

The Internet of Things (IoT) environment has been gradually approaching reality, and although it provides great convenience, security threats are increasing accordingly. For the IoT environment to settle safely, careful consideration of information security is necessary. Although many security measures in the design and development stages of IoT products have been studied thus far, apart from them, the establishment of systems and countermeasures for post management after the launch of IoT products is also very important. In the present paper, a technical and policy post-security management framework is proposed to provide secure IoT environments. The proposed framework defines the concrete response procedures of individual entities such as users, manufacturers, and competent authorities in the case of the occurrence of security flaws after launching IoT products, and performs appropriate measures such as software updates and recalls based on an assessment of the risk of security flaws.

Recently, IoT(Internet of Things) has been extensively researching to provide intelligent services by fusing ICT. Especially with the advent of Germany's Industry 4.0, it is emphasized the importance of the industrial IoT to maximize the production capacity. Accordingly, a lot of efforts to spread the smart factory base of industrial IoT have continued domestically as well as abroad. But the current smart factory systems have controlled equipment using the data declared in the embedded systems. Therefore, it is difficult to control environment that lots of equipment is installed. In this paper, we proposed equipment control system based on data base access method for industrial IoT. This method controls the equipment using data base from parameter of equipment. Through experiments that the system apply to mold shot system with a number of variables, it is shown that the proposed method can efficiently control a number of devices.
