  • The use of sensors and actuators as a form of controlling cyber-physical systems in resource networks has been integrated and referred to as the Internet of Things (IoT). However, the connectivity of many stand-alone IoT systems through the Internet introduces numerous security challenges as sensitive information is prone to be exposed to malicious users. In this paper, IoT based-security issues ontology is proposed to collect, examine, analyze, prepare, acquire and preserve evidence of IoT security issues challenges. Ontology development has consists three main steps, 1) domain, purpose and scope setting, 2) important terms acquisition, classes and class hierarchy conceptualization and 3) instances creation. Ontology congruent to this paper is method that will help to better understanding and defining terms of IoT based-security issue ontology. Our proposed IoT based-security issue ontology resulting from the protégé has a total of 44 classes and 43 subclasses.

Smart home is an application that is a combination of technology and services that specialize in the home environment with specific functions aimed at improving the efficiency, comfort and security of the occupants. Smart homes filled with connected products are loaded with possibilities to make our lives easier, more convenient, and more comfortable. This intelligent home system uses a microcontroller to process functions that provided by smart home system, such functions as RFID for door access and PIR sensors for motion detection. By using Android users could control the sensors anytime and anywhere. Microcontroller used is Arduino IDE with WeMos D1R2 board. Based on the testing process, there was a successful communication between the components of the device, sensors, and Android devices. Users could open or close the solenoid, users can also turn off or turn on electronic devices using Android.

  • A wide range of IoT applications use information collected from networks of sensors for monitoring and controlling purposes. However, the frequent appearance of fault data makes it difficult to extract correct information, thereby sending incorrect commands to actuators that can threaten human privacy and safety. For this reason, it is necessary to have a mechanism to detect fault data collected from sensors. In this paper, we present a trend-adaptive multi-scale principal component analysis (Trend-adaptive MS-PCA) model for data fault detection. The proposed model inherits advantages of Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) in capturing time-frequency information and advantages of PCA in extracting correlation among sensors' data. Experimental results on a real dataset show the high effectiveness of the proposed model in data fault detection.

  • Since IoT devices include various sensors and drivers, application programmers need to understand the structure and characteristics of sensors and actuators. If the manufacturer provides the driver of the sensor or actuator, IoT development can be efficiently carried out, which is called the Plug & Play technique. What matters is that the technique proposed by this research team in the past are not suitable for Arduino or Raspberry-Pi, which are recently used. In this paper, we propose a USB sensor device that can be mounted on a Raspberry-Pi. When the device is plugged into the Raspberry-Pi, the built-in driver is transmitted and played. The configuration of the USB sensor device was presented, and considerations for chip selection for processing sensors and drivers were presented.

  • The importance of wearing respiratory protective equipment has been highlighted even more during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even if the suitability of respiratory protection has been confirmed through testing in a laboratory environment, there remains the potential for leakage points in the respirators due to improper application by the wearer, damage to the equipment, or sudden movements in real working conditions. In this paper, we propose a method to detect the occurrence of leak holes by measuring the pressure changes inside the mask according to the wearer's breathing activity by attaching an IoT sensor to a full-face respirator. We designed 9 experimental scenarios by adjusting the degree of leak holes of the respirator and the breathing cycle time, and acquired respiratory data for the wearer of the respirator accordingly. Additionally, we analyzed the respiratory data to identify the duration and pressure change range for each breath, utilizing this data to train a neural network model for detecting leak holes in the respirator. The experimental results applying the developed neural network model showed a sensitivity of 100%, specificity of 94.29%, and accuracy of 97.53%. We conclude that the effective detection of leak holes can be achieved by incorporating affordable, small-sized IoT sensors into respiratory protective equipment.

  • Recently, research on Society 5.0 has been actively carried out in Japan. The Society 5.0 is used in various areas using IoT sensors. This paper proposes a privacy approach model of multiple approaches to IoT users based on Society 5.0. The proposed model used multiple methods of synchronizing important information of IoT devices with one another in the virtual environment. The proposed model improved the efficiency of IoT information by accumulating the weight of IoT information on a probability-based basis. Further, it improves the accuracy of IoT information by segmenting it so that attribute information is linked to IoT information. As a result of the performance evaluation, the efficiency of IoT devices has improved by an average of 5.6 percent, depending on the number of IoT devices and the number of IoT hub devices. Accuracy has improved by an average of 15.9% depending on information collection and processing.

  • Internet of Thing (IoT) computing is an environment where various devices with sensors and actuators are connect, and interact together to acquire contexts and provide useful services. With the advances of IoT technologies, its usability becomes an in important issue. However, there exist various types of faults in IoT computing which are not conventionally addressed in software research community. Providing reliable IoT services is challenging. In this paper, we present a hierarchy of IoT faults and analyze causes and symptoms of the faults. Based on the analysis, we define effective methods for managing IoT faults. We believe that our proposed framework for managing IoT faults can be utilized in reducing the development cost of IoT applications and enhancing the quality of the applications.

  • Recently, users' interest in IoT related products is increasing as the 4th industrial revolution has become social. The types and functions of sensors used in IoT devices are becoming increasingly diverse, and mutual authentication technology of IoT devices is required. In this paper, we propose an efficient double signature authentication scheme using Pascal's triangle theory so that different types of IoT devices can operate smoothly with each other. The proposed scheme divides the authentication path between IoT devices into two (main path and auxiliary path) to guarantee authentication and integrity of the IoT device. In addition, the proposed scheme is suitable for IoT devices that require a small capacity because they generate keys so that additional encryption algorithms are unnecessary when authenticating IoT devices. As a result of the performance evaluation, the delay time of the IoT device is improved by 6.9% and the overhead is 11.1% lower than that of the existing technique. The throughput of IoT devices was improved by an average of 12.5% over the existing techniques.
