  • It is necessary to analyze exactly the torque ripple components in the harmonics as to decrease the torque ripple. Lower harmonics influence mainly on torque ripple. Among the harmonics, the pairs of 5's, 7's and 11's, 13's are dominant, and the magnitude of each pairs of current harmonics are very significant. Therefore, for decreasing the torque ripple, current harmonic pairs of 6n ${\pm}$1's orders must be simultaneously eliminated. In the case of eliminating one of current harmonic pairs, even though the magnitude of the current harmonics is small, It has great effect on torque ripple.

  • This paper deals with the high efficiency drive of a vector controlled inverter fed induction motor system for electric vehicles. The loss equation is derived from the voltage equations in synchronously rotating reference frame. The ratio of the d-axis and q-axis component currents should be maintained constant to maximize the efficiency at a specified speed. Digital simulations are curried out and the results are compared with those of the conventional constant flux control.

  • Recently, operating equipment with the high quality is necessary as technology is developing rapidly and equipment becomes more accurate. Therefore, the importance of diagnosis has been rising in modem industries. This paper presents that the induction motor is driven by invertor. We were using EMTP (Electromagnetic Transient Program) to study different characteristics of induction motor caused by faults; single phasing and the short circuit fault. After having the fault occurred in feeder cable, motor current, flux and torque waveform are analyzed

  • This paper proposes a systematic approach for an accurate control of the Terfenol-D actuator taking into account hysteresis, modeled by applying the classical Preisach operator with memory curve. A desired input displacement is calculated by using the hysteresis inverter, which is fed into the actuator. Then the PI compensator corrects the error between the commanded and actual displacements. Experiments with the step responses show that the PI controller settles in 70 ms and the hybrid controller in 20 ms. It means that the concurrent application of two control schemes is effective to control the actuator.

  • Fluctuating wind conditions necessitate the use of a variable speed wind turbine (VSWT) with a AC/DC/AC converter scheme in order to harvest the maximum power from the wind and to decouple the synchronous generator voltage and frequency from the grid voltage and frequency. In this paper, a combination of a three phase diode bridge rectifier (DBR) and a modified topology of the diode clamped multilevel inverter (DCMLI) has been considered as an AC/DC/AC converter. A control strategy has been proposed for the DCMLI to achieve the objective of grid interface of a wind power system together with local load compensation. A novel fixed frequency current control method is proposed for the DCMLI based on the level shifted multi carrier PWM for achieving the required control objectives with equal and uniform switching frequency operation for better control and thermal management with the modified DCMLI. The condition of the controller gain is derived to ensure the operation of the DCMLI at the fixed frequency of the carrier. The converter current injected into the distribution grid is controlled in accordance with the wind power availability. In addition, load compensation is performed as an added facility in order to free the source currents being fed from the grid of harmonic distortion, unbalance and a low power factor even though the load may be unbalanced, non-linear and of a poor power factor. The results are validated using PSCAD/EMTDC simulation studies.

  • In this paper, the thrust control of PWM Inverter-fed SLIM(Single-sided Linear Induction Motor) is achieved by vector control and PID control with DSP(TMS320C32). SLIM which used as a conveyor has required the quick response and the constant operating without air gap trembling while it conveys load. Thus, SLIM should have the smallest trembling of air gap length. First, voltage equations for SLIM are calculated from the proposed equivalent circuit in this peper, and not only the exciting current but also the thrust component are obtained from them. The thrust current ripple can be reduced by the vector controller using a slip angle frequency, and the PID controller is also use for the position control.

  • In this paper, represented uninterruptible power supply (UPS) equipment maintaining constant output voltage, the proposes a photovoltaic system constructed with a step up boosting chopper and single phase pulse width modulation (PWM) voltage source inverter. as power source disconnection, voltage variation and output current variation with load variation. This system is driven by being synchronized voltage fed inverter and AC source, and in the steady state of power source charge battery connected to DC side with solar cell using a Photovoltaic that it was so called constant voltage charge. It can be results of saving electric power, and through a normal operation of energy storage system (ESS), the system operated the LED a calling on signal changes at the airport in an efficient manner. In addition, better output waveform was generated because of PWM method, and it was proved to test by experiment maintained constant output voltage regardless of AC source disconnection, load variation, and voltage variation of AC power source.

  • A robust current control technique with a simple time delayed estimator for a permanent magnet synchronous m motor (PMSM) drive is presented. Among the various CWTent control schemes for a voltage source inverter-fed P PMSM drive, the predictive control is known to give a superior performance. This control technique, however, r requires the full knowledge of machine parameters and operating conditions, and gives an unsatisfactory r response under the parameter mismatch between the motor and controller. To overcome such a limitation, the d disturbances caused by the parameter valiations will be estimated by using a" time delay contTol approach and u used for the computation of the reference voltages by a simple feedforwal"d control. The proposed control $ scheme is implemented on a PMSM using the software of DSP TlVIS:32OC:30 and the effectiveness is verified d through the comparative simulations and experiments.periments.

  • This paper presents a new circuit topology of active edge resonant snubbers assisted half-bridge soft switching PWM inverter type DC-DC high power converter for DC bus feeding power plants. The proposed DC-DC power converter is composed of a typical voltage source-fed half-bridge high frequency PWM inverter with a high frequency planar transformer link in addition to input DC busline side power semiconductor switching devices for PWM control scheme and parallel capacitive lossless snubbers. The operating principle of the new DC-DC converter treated here is described by using switching mode equivalent circuits, together with its unique features. All the active power switches in the half-bridge arms and input DC buslines can achieve ZCS turn-on and ZVS turn-off commutation transitions. The total turn-off switching losses of the power switches can be significantly reduced. As a result, a high switching frequency IGBTs can be actually selected in the frequency range of 60 kHz under the principle of soft switching. The performance evaluations of the experimental setup are illustrated practically. The effectiveness of this new converter topology is proved for such low voltage and large current DC-DC power supplies as DC bus feeding from a practical point of view.
