  • This paper deals with the analysis of bearing current in H-bridge seven level multilevel inverter fed induction motor. In the previous researches utilized electromagnetic equations to derive the parasitic capacitance or measured capacitance parameters, but we used FEM to derive parasitic capacitances and defined the equivalent circuit parameters in our strategy. Then we compared suggested method with conventional method in 60 [Hz] no load condition.

  • A simple method that estimates the torque fluctuations in induction motor driven by CSI under steady state condition is presented and that uses the phasor diagram from the modified singlephase equivalent circuit. This method is also applied to evaluate the PWM and programmed do link modulation techniques for reducing the torque pulsations. The simplified calculations are compared with the exact digital solutions from machine D-Q equation. It is noted that the torque pulsations in induction motor driven by CSI are dependent upon the load condition unlike VSI.

  • In this paper, vector control of induction motor drives using space current vector PWM is presented. The scheme gives advantages, besides robustness to inverter arm-shoot, sinusoidal input current and voltage for induction motors. In addition, space vector PWM for CSI produces faster transient response than conventional pattern PWM. Also, a modulation index control is proposed.

  • In recent year, inverters and cycloconverters system are widely used for fed induction motor drives. Motor drives by cycloconverter is possible to frequency have been directly changed without AC/DC converter, so that circuits is simpler than inverter. A aims of this paper is the control strategy and hardware design for vector control system by cycloconverter fed induction motor drives. In this paper, Algorithm of vector control is derivlid from the model of controlled current source-fed induction motor. Vector control system is implemented using these algorithm and a pulse width controled cycloconverter using a SCR. Cycloconverter of vector control system is controlled by pulse width of SCR's trigger signal. pulse width is controlled primary command current $li_1l$ and frequency TEX>$\omega_1$..

  • This paper addresses the output control of a utility-connected double-fed induction machine (DFIM) for wind power generation systems (WPGS). DFIM has a back-to-back converter to control outputs of DFIM driven by the wind turbine for WPGS. To supply commercially the power of WPGS to the grid without any problems related to power quality, the real and reactive powers (PQ) at the stator side of DFIM are strictly controlled at the required level, which in this paper is realized with the Fuzzy PI controller based on the field orientation control. For the Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) converter connected to the rotor side of DFIG to maintain the controllability of PQ at the state side of DFIM, the DC voltage of the DC link capacitor is also controlled at a certain level with the conventional Proportion-Integral (PI) controller of the real power. In addition, the power quality at the grid connected to the rotor side of DFIM through the back-to-back converter is maintained in a certain level with a PI controller of the reactive power. The controllers for the PQ at the stator side of DFIM, the DC link voltage of the back-to-back inverter and the reactive power at the grid connected to the rotor side of DFIM are designed and simulated in the PSIM program, of which the result verifies the performance of the proposed controllers.

New Generalized SVPWM Algorithm for Multilevel Inverters

  • In this paper a new generalized space vector pulse width modulation scheme is proposed based on the principle of reverse mapping to drive the switches of multilevel inverters. This projected scheme is developed based on the middle vector of the subhexagon which holds the tip of the reference vector, which plays a major role in mapping the reference vector. A new approach is offered to produce middle vector of the subhexagon which holds tip of the reference vector in the multilevel space vector plane. By using middle vector of the subhexagon, reference vector is linked towards the inner two level sub-hexagon. Then switching vectors, switching sequence and dwell times corresponding to a particular sector of a two-level inverter are determined. After that, by using the two level stage findings, the switching vectors related to exact position of the reference vector are directly generated based on principle of the reverse mapping approach and do not need to be found at n level stage. In the reverse mapping principle, the middle vector of subhexagon is added to the formerly found two level switching vectors. The proposed generalized algorithm is efficient and it can be applied to an inverter of any level. In this paper, the proposed scheme is explained for a five-level inverter and the performance is analyzed for five level and three level inverters through MATLAB. The simulation results are validated by implementing the propose scheme on a V/f controlled three-level inverter fed induction motor using dSPACE control desk.

  • This paper is described the indirect induction heated boiler system and induction heated hot air producer using the voltage-fed series resonant high-frequency inverter which can operate in the frequency range from 20〔KHz〕 to 50〔KHz〕. A specially designed Induction heater, which is composed of laminated stainless assembly with many tiny holes and interconnected spot welding points between stainless plates, is inserted into the ceramic type vessel with external working coil. This working coil is connected to the resonant inverter. In the induction heater, it's primary heating section creates low-pressure saturated steam and secondary heating section generates heat distribution evaporating fluid from the turbulence fluid which is flowing through the vessel. The operating performances of this unique appliance in next generation and its effectiveness are evaluated and discussed from the practical point of view.

  • Faults of motor drive systems to be used for various industrial applications can cause serious problems. In this paper, a method to diagnose switch open fault of a voltage-fed PWM inverter is proposed. The proposed method normalizes dq current and fault-detection and first classification are performed by mean values of dq phase currents, second classification is performed by features such as the relation of dq phase currents, the ranges of those, the positions of those according to the results, and fault switch is diagnosed with the results. The proposed method performs the simulation for diagnosis of inverter switch open faults with MATLAB and identifies the feasibility of the proposed method. Because the proposed method is implemented by simple algorithms, the proposed algorithm can be embedded in general induction motor drive systems and be used.

  • In this paper the problems associated with the switching surge of PWM inverter devices were analysed. As the application of ASD for efficient speed control of AC rmtors is increased, so is the rrntor and ASD-related failure increased. In the industrial rmtor awlications, the introduction of PWM drives can sometmes cause insulation breakdown between the phase windings due to high transient voltage peak. The motor cable length combined with the high switching frequency becomes more sensitive issue for proper drive operation. Effects of the cable length and high switching frequency influence both on rmtor and inverter. When the insulation level of rmtor winding is low, the failure probability caused by high peak voltage and fast voltage rise times(dv/dt) is high. Voltage refloctions are simulated far rmtor capacities, ASD and rise times and are presented graphically. The filtering techniques are discussed to reduce the rmtor terminal overvoltage and dv/dt in inverter fed AC rrntor drive systems. We confirmed that the lower motar capacity and rmtar insulation level, the shorter switching time and cable length and the higrer the probability of insulation breakdown .kdown .

  • This paper proposes a new active common-mode voltage damper circuit that is capable of suppressing a common-mode voltage produced in the PWM VSI-fed induction motor drives. The new active common mode voltage damper is consists of a four-level half-bridge Inverter and a common mode transformer with a blocking capacitor. In order to reduce the common mode voltage and high frequency leakage current the active common mode damper applies to the PWM inverter system the compensated voltage of which the amplitude is the same as the common mode voltage and of which the polarity is opposite to the common mode voltage. Simulated using P-SPICE and experimental results show that common-mode voltage damper makes contributions to reducing a high frequency leakage current and common-mode voltage.
