In this thesis, we present the Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) fuzzy model based adaptive controller and adaptive identification for a general class of uncertain nonlinear dynamic systems. We use an estimated model for the unknown plant model and use this model for designing the controller. The hybrid adaptive control combined direct and indirect adaptive control based on TSK fuzzy model is constructed. The direct adaptive law can be showed by ignoring the identification errors and fails to achieve parameter convergence. Thus, we propose an TSK fuzzy model based hybrid adaptive (HA) law combined of the tracking error and the model ins error to adjust the parameters. Using a Lyapunov synthesis approach, the proposed hybrid adaptive control is proved. The hybrid adaptive law (HA) is better than the direct adaptive (DA) method without identifying the model ins error in terms of faster and improved tracking and parameter convergence. In order to show the applicability of the proposed method, it is applied to the inverted pendulum system and the performance is verified by some simulation results.
Fuzzy Systems which are based on membership functions and rules, can control nonlinear, uncertain, complex systems well. However, Fuzzy logic controller(FLC) has problems; It is difficult to design the stable FLC and FLC depends mainly on individual experience. Although FLC can be designed using the error back-propagation algorithm, it takes long time to converge into global, optimal parameters. Well-developed linear system theory should not be replaced by FLC, but instead, it should be suitably used with FLC. A new methodology is introduced for designing THEN-PART membership functions of FLC based on its well-tuned state feedback controller. A example of inverted pendulum is given for demonstration of the robustness of proposed methodology.

This paper presents an optimal design method for fuzzy logic controllers using genetic algorithms. In general, the design of fuzzy logic controllers has difficulties in the acquisition of exper's knowledge and relies to a great extent on empirical and heuristic knowledge which, in many cases, cannot be objectively justified. So, the performance of the controller can be degraded in the case of plant parameter variations or unpredictable incident which the designer may have ignored, and parameters of the fuzzy logic controller obtained by expert's control action may not be global. To solve these problems, the proposed method using genetic algorithms in this paper, can tune the parameters of fuzzy logic controller including scaling factors and determine the appropriate number of fuzzy reles systematically and automatically. We provide the second drder dead time plant and inverted pendulum system to evaluate the feasibility and generality of our proposed method. Comparison shows that the proposed controller can producd higher accuracy and a smaller number of fuzzy rules than manually tuned fuzzy logic controller.

In this paper, a method of self-organizing for fuzzy logic controller(FLC) through learning of the proper direction of coritrol is proposed. In case of designing a self-organizing FLC for unknown dynamic plants based on the gradient descent method, it is difficult to identify the desirable direction of the change of control inpul. in which the error would be decreased. To resolve this problem, we propose a method as fo1lows:at first, assign representative values for the direction of change of error with respect to control input to each partitioned region of the states, and then, learn the fuzzy control rules using the reinforced representative values through iterative trials. 'The proposed self-organizing FLC has simple structure and it is easy to design. The validity of the proposed method is proved by the computer simulation for an inverted pendulum system.

A major difficulty with the practical application of the multiple observer based IFDI schemes is the computational burden of the residual generation. In this paper, a new residual generator that employs function observers is proposed to reduce the computational burden, and the design methods of the IFDIS, equipped with the residual generator, are presented. The function observers employed in the residual generator can be considered as a dual of the unknown input (function) observer And it can be designed to estimate the measurement errors that are due to sensor faults. The error estimates are further processed to generate the residuals by which reliable fault detection/isolation result car be obtained. The proposed scheme is more useful, in real-time application, than any other multiple state observer based IFDISs. It can be effectively applied to fault tolerant control because the failure effects can be compensated by the use of the estimates of measurement errors. The proposed IFDI scheme is applied to an inverted pendulum control system for the IFDI of failed sensor and fault compensation.

Chattering phenomenon is still a large drawback of VSS. To overcome this problem, various approaches have been reported. A new notion of sliding sector has been proposed recently. Inside this sector, a kind of norm of the state decreases without control input. Therefore, so long as the state is constrained inside this sector, the norm of the state approaches to zero. The sliding sector theory is elementary study step and is studied about only linear systems. In this paper, new methods of stabilizing unstable nonlinear systems using the sliding sector is proposed. This paper analyzes the stability, using Lyapunov function on the sliding sector. Through the computer simulations for an inverted pendulum system, it is verified that sliding sector control is capable to reduce the chattering.
This paper describes the posture stabilization control of a bipedal transformer robot being developed for military use. An inverted pendulum model with a rectangular that considers the robot's inertia is proposed, and a posture stabilization moment that can maintain the body tilt angle is derived by applying disturbance observer and state feedback control. In addition, vertical force and posture stabilization moments that can maintain the body height and balance are derived through QP optimization to obtain the necessary torques and vertical force for each foot. The roll and pitch angles of the IMU sensor attached to the robot's feet are reflected in the ankle joint to enable flexible adaptation to changes in ground inclination. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in posture stabilization is verified by comparing and analyzing the difference in body tilt angle due to disturbances and ground inclination changes with and without algorithm application, using Gazebo dynamic simulation and a down-scale test platform.

IEEE 802.15.4e is a prospective standard for low latency control application in industries. This paper proposes a framework to evaluate the closed loop IEEE 802.15.4e based WNCS performance. The framework consists of two models: closed loop control system model and network model. The network model focuses on the PHY parameters of wireless link and takes the channel parameters into consideration. The PHY model combining with MAC model gives the control system model the probability of packet loss in a super-frame. In addition, redundancy mechanism is considered in IEEE 802.15.4e to reduce to data frame loss probability. The simulation is implemented in Matlab, PHY model takes the channel parameters from empirical results. Hence our evaluation gives insight into behavior of WNCS in different environments and it provides us a tool to design wireless network to achieve a good performance for control system.

This paper presents the new design method of fuzzy control system for nonlinear system. Many conventional design methods for fuzzy controller find the control gain for stabilizing fuzzy controller with some mathematical approaches. However, there exist some controllers which are hard to design with mathematical approach. In order to solve these problems, we propose the intelligent design method for fuzzy controller by using genetic algorithm with evolution strategy. The genetic algorithm with evolution strategy finds the control gain by changing the evolution region of chromosome. Finally, an application example of stabilizing a cart-pole typed inverted pendulum system will be given to show the stabilizability of the fuzzy controller.

In this paper, we deal with the problem of controlling an unknown nonlinear dynamical system, using wavelet network. Accurate control of the nonlinear systems depends critically on the accuracy and efficiency of the function approximator used to approximate the function. Thus, we use wavelet network which shows high capability of approximating the functions and includes the free-selection of basis functions for the control of the nonlinear system. We find the dilation and translation that are wavelet network parameters by analyzing the time-frequency characteristics of the controller's input to construct an initial adaptive wavelet network controller. Then, weights is adjusted by the adaptive law based on the Lyapunov stability theory. We apply this direct adaptive wavelet network controller to control the inverted pendulum system which is an nonlinear system.
