  • Manufacturing firms have to recognize the fact that trust, long-term relationship with supplier through collaboration is able to contribute to improving their competitiveness. However, developing these relationships is able to contribute to improving their competitiveness. However, developing these relationships have proved quite challenging. Supplier development takes much cooperation, coordination, and collaboration to build and manage their relationships in order to lower costs, reduce lead times, improve the quality of products, optimize inventories and facilitate products development.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of clothing cues (color, color scheme, structure) on impression formation by perceiver personality variable. The subjects were consisted of 77 male and 86 female undergraduate and graduate students. The experimental inventories for this study were a set of stimuli, a response scale, standardized MBTI. The stimuli were eighteen photographs and one extra photograph of a female wearing Korean dress, Chima and Jokori-varied in hue (cool, warm), color scheme (related schemes, con- trasting schemes) of the same silhouette. Results indicate that the most affecting perceiver's personality variables on impression effects were judging-perceiving traits and extraversion -introversion traits. The interaction effects were most frequently appeared between color scheme (clothing cues) and perceiver's personality traits. The impression factors which were most affected by perceiver's personality traits variables were preference· evaluation factor and individuality· attention factor.

  • Volatile organic compound (VOC) has been well-known to Korea since the end of 1990's however, it has not been well documented until now. In this study, present ambient VOC levels, VOC emission sources, and VOC control technologies were reviewed and discussed. In addition, VOC management strategies to cut down ozone concentrations were suggested based on the present VOC database. For anthropogenic VOC reduction, VOC emitted from painting processes and automobiles should be controlled in the first place in large cities such as Seoul, Daegu, and Incheon. For natural VOC management, low emission trees need to be planted in those cities. It is also very significant to keep updating present and future VOC emission inventories for efficient VOC control strategies. As a conclusion, more systematic VOC control road-map based on BACT (best available control technology) needs to be made up. and more economical and efficient VOC control techniques have to be developed under strong national support in order to lower toxic VOC and photochemical oxidant levels.

  • The aim of this study was to construct a pre-parent education program for unmarried university students on theological, practical, and psychological bases. Literature related to this subject was reviewed. and the social needs of pre-parent education, the developmental-psychological needs of university students, and the satisfaction of a pre-parent education program were investigated. A pre-parent education program consisting of 3 thematic areas was identified for future parents: the need to improve knowledge, attitudes, and skills. The program content areas were; self awareness, family life-cycle and parental role and social issues arising from dysfunctional family behavior. Multiple instructional strategies were used such as lectures, video tapes, reflective thinking, discussions, debates, role-plays, group presentations, and personality inventories over the course of 16 weeks. The assessment also identified 3 thematic areas and demonstrated improvement of knowledge, altitudes, and skills in the 3 areas.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the parenting behaviors which are represented in traditional fairy tales and creative stories. In this study the parenting behaviors of 44 traditional fairy tales and 52 creative stories for young children were analyzed according to the Korean Maternal Behavior Inventories (KMBI). The results are as follows : First, active participation, affectionate behaviors, reasonable guide, and consistency were represented more in creative stories than in traditional fairy tales and authoritarian control was represented more in traditional fairy tales than in creative stories. Second, fathers in creative stories participated more actively in their children's teaching than fathers on traditional fairy tales. Third, mothers in creative stories showed more affectionate parenting behaviors, participated more actively and showed more consistency in the relationship with their children. Fourth, the parents in traditional fairy tales showed more achievement-oriented parenting behaviors, especially in father-son relationship than others.

  • An alternative to traditional production planning and control systems such as MRP and JIT is the drum-buffer-rope (DBR). Using the DBR system, companies can achieve a large reduction of work-in-process (WIP) and finished-goods inventories (FGI). significant improvement in scheduling performance, and substantial earnings increase. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effect of the DBR system in a serial production line. Using Markov process, we modeled a DBR system with three stages. For the model developed we analyze the system characteristics and then present an optimization model for system design. The system performance is also analyzed through sensitivity analysis.

  • We consider an integrated supply chain model in which multiple suppliers replenish items for a single buyer's demand. Also the buyer specifies a basic replenishment cycle and the suppliers replenish the items only at those time intervals. Namely, we propose a model to study and analyze the benefit by coordinating supply chain inventories through the basic replenishment cycle time. The objective of this model is to minimize the total relevant annual cost of the integrated inventory model. After developing proposed coordinated models, we suggest heuristics for searching the solutions of our models. Finally, numerical and computational experiments for each policy are carried out to evaluate the benefits of those models and the compensation policy is addressed to share the benefits.

  • This paper considers a reverse supply chain with simultaneous recovery of used products and manufacturing of brand-new ones. Recovered products are downgraded and have to be sold in a market different from that of brand-new products at a different price. In case of a shortage of recovered product inventory, a brand-new item, if available, can be offered at the price of a recovered product. In other words, one-way demand substitution is allowed. We address the joint decision of when to manufacture brand-new product, when to recover returned product, and how to control demand substitution to maximize the hybrid production system's profits. To this end, we propose a Markov decision Process model and investigate the structure of the optimal policy. Performance comparison is numerically implemented between the models with and without downward demand substitution option under different operating conditions of the system parameters.

  • Recently, Vendor Managed Inventory(VMI) is commonly recognized as one of the supply chain application that delivers clear value to the sectors of electic& electronic Components. VMI is a process in which a supplier generates orders for its distributor based on demand information sent by the distributor. VMI is providing the benefits of smoother demand, lower inventories and reduced costs. This case study focused on Improvement of Inventory Efficiency by VMI. The results indicated that VMI allowed the company to serve its customers more surely and efficiently.
