  • This study discusses how the humanity mathematics education can be realized in practice. The essence of mathematical concept is gradually disclosed revealing the ambiguities in the concept currently accepted and clarifying them. Historical development of mathematical concepts has progressed as such, exemplified with the group-theoretical thought and continuous function. In learning of mathematical concepts, thus, students have to recognize, reveal and clarify the ambiguities that intuitive and context-dependent definitions in school mathematics have. We present the process of improvement of definitions of a tangent and a polygon in school mathematics as examples. In the process, students may recognize the limitations of their thoughts and reform them with feelings of humility and satisfaction. Therefore this learning process would contribute to cultivating students' minds as the humanity mathematics education pursues.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the regionality of RCR Arquitectes's architectural characteristics and to figure out how these characteristics were applied to each project. The reason why they become world-class architects, who recently awarded Pritzker Architecture Prize, is because they deal with universality as their most previous inspiration which is harmonized with their own experience of hometown, Olot. They pursue "Equilibrium" is their fundamental aspect which is inspired by their experiences in Olot. The concept "Equilibrium" is classified into three main points. First, the close relationship between the landscape and architecture is priority in this concept, which is the potential of the place through architecture to form a new landscape and to pursue a balance with nature. In order to keep the relationship closer, they captured the intuitive idea through the watercolor sketch in the beginning of the project. And they also promoted the involvement of surrounding nature through horizontality, frame and void, etc. Secondly, they used cor-ten steel as the main material for most projects, and the symbiotic relationship with nature that allow people to have a different sensory experience. And the last feature is that their buildings are easily applied to different usage through users intend and behave so their buildings have transformed with various values. It is because they design buildings with strategy to harmonize between landscape and environment so they have various expansion as buildings or objects. The present era of globalization, architecture with regional identity plays an important role in conveying the values of each region. The purpose of this study is to investigate about RCR Arquitectes, who informed about the Olot and Spain's regionality, and to consider the development of architecture that implies our country's identity.

  • In this paper we present INCUI, a user interface based on natural view of physical user interface of target devices and services in pervasive computing environment. We present a concept of Intuitively Natural and Consistent User Interface (INCUI) consisted of an image of physical user interface and a description XML file. Then we elaborate how INCUI template can be used to consistently map user interface components structurally and visually. We describe the process of INCUI mapping and a novel mapping method selection architecture based on domain size, types of source and target INCUI. Especially we developed and applied an extended LCS-based algorithm using prefix/postfix/synonym for similarity calculation.

  • An experimental research program is being undertaken to develop a regeneratively-cooled experimental thrust chamber of liquid rocket engine using liquefied natural gas and liquid oxygen as propellants. Prior to firing test using a regenerative cooling with liquefied natural gas in this program, several firing tests were conducted with water as a coolant. Experimental thrust chambers with a thrust of about 10tf were developed and their firing test facility was built up. Injector used in the thrust chamber was of shear-coaxial type appropriate for propellants of gas and liquid phase and cooling channels are of milled rectangular configuration. Periodical variation of the soot deposition and discoloration was observed through an eyes' inspection on the inner wall of a combustion chamber and a nozzle after each firing test, and an intuitive concept of the periodical variation of mixture ratio near the inner wall of a combustion chamber and a nozzle at once was brought about and analyzed quantitatively. Thermal heat flux to the coolant was calculated and modified with the periodical variation model of mixture ratio, and the increment of coolant temperature at cooling channels was compared with measured one.

  • Image segmentation is the critical first step in image information extraction for computer vision systems. Clustering methods have been used extensively in color image segmentation. Most analytic fuzzy clustering approaches are divided from the fuzzy c-means(FCM) algorithm. The FCM algorithm uses fie probabilistic constraint that the memberships of a data point across classes sum to 1. However, the memberships resulting from the FCM do not always correspond to the intuitive concept of degree of belonging or compatibility. Moreover, the FCM algorithm has considerable trouble under noisy environments in the feature space. Recently, a possibilistic approach to clustering(PCM) for solving above problems was proposed. In this paper, we used the PCM for color image segmentation. This approach differs from existing fuzzy clustering methods for color image segmentation in that the resulting partition of the data can be interpreted as a possibilistic partition. So, the problems in the FCM can be solved by the PCM. But, the clustering results by the PCM are not smoothly bounded, and they often have holes. The region growing was used as a postprocessing after smoothing the noise points in the pixel seeds. In our experiments, we illustrate that the PCM us reasonable than the FCM in noisy environments.

  • This research is to aim at presenting arrangement of colors, visual and symbolic through combined coupling ofI-Ging and Sackdong. This combined couplings is attempted to be approached by the following 4 conceptual steps :ⅰ) Is it appropriate to even try to coupleI-Ging with Sackdong\ulcorner ⅱ) Is the basic structure of Kwai an object of stripe colorizing\ulcorner ⅲ) What are the fundamental colors for this purpose\ulcorner ⅳ)combined of Kwai and the fundamental colors. Theoretical background for this study is as follows.ⅰ) Color accord and arrangements of existing Sackdong. ⅱ) An attempt to coupleI-Ging with Sackdong The purpose of this research is to expand concrete concept of Sackdong, which is to be utilized not only in costume design, but in the whole realm of design, by presenting feasible application of stripe coloredI-Ging. The summary of conclusion of this research is as follows. A. Is this aforementioned attempt academic\ulcorner B. Standardization of stripe-coloring is essential. Furthurmore we can conclued that the under-standing ofI-Ging and its basic philosophical background and the fundamental mechanism of colors in traditional costumes is necessary condition for standardization of Kwai. Along this path, however, conditions to be satisfied and priorities to be given depend upon the decision of an individual or a group. In my view, sripe-colorizing of 64 Kwais ofI-Ging followed by intuitive matching of colors with the in-terpretation of Kwais seems to be the most appropriate solution.

  • The uplifting and rocking of slender, free-standing structures when subjected to ground shaking may limit appreciably the seismic moments and shears that develop at their base. This high-performance seismic behavior is inherent in the design of ancient temples with emblematic peristyles that consist of slender, free-standing columns which support freely heavy epistyles together with the even heavier frieze atop. While the ample seismic performance of rocking isolation has been documented with the through-the-centuries survival of several free-standing ancient temples; and careful post-earthquake observations in Japan during the 1940's suggested that the increasing size of slender free-standing tombstones enhances their seismic stability; it was George Housner who 50 years ago elucidated a size-frequency scale effect that explained the "counter intuitive" seismic stability of tall, slender rocking structures. Housner's 1963 seminal paper marks the beginning of a series of systematic studies on the dynamic response and stability of rocking structures which gradually led to the development of rocking isolation-an attractive practical alternative for the seismic protection of tall, slender structures. This paper builds upon selected contributions published during this last half-century in an effort to bring forward the major advances together with the unique advantages of rocking isolation. The paper concludes that the concept of rocking isolation by intentionally designing a hinging mechanism that its seismic resistance originates primarily from the mobilization of the rotational inertia of its members is a unique seismic protection strategy for large, slender structures not just at the limit-state but also at the operational state.

  • The fourth industrial revolution is expected to show technological innovation that develops among different fields beyond boundaries through the convergence and integration of fields. With the development and convergence of digital technology, users can receive information anywhere in the world. In this paper, we propose an adaptive interaction concept in a various environment by using a mobile robot based on projection augmented reality (AR). Most previous studies have aimed fixed projector or projection for a pre-designed environment. Thus, they provide only limited information. To overcome the abovementioned problem, we provide the adaptive information by implementing a projection AR system that can be mounted on the mobile robot. For that, the mobile robot based on the projection system was defined as Pervasive AR. Pervasive AR is configured with a pervasive display, a pervasive interface, and seamless interaction. The Pervasive AR technology enables the user to access information immediately by expanding the display area into real space, which implies an environment of intuitive and convenient interaction by expanding the user interface. This system can be applied to various areas, such as a home environment and a public space.

  • In this paper we focus on the Personal Space (PS) as a nonverbal communication concept to build a new Human Computer Interaction. The analysis of people positions with respect to their PS gives an idea on the nature of their relationship. We propose to analyze and model the PS using Computer Vision (CV), and visualize it using Computer Graphics. For this purpose, we define the PS based on four parameters: distance between people, their face orientations, age, and gender. We automatically estimate the first two parameters from image sequences using CV technology, while the two other parameters are set manually. Finally, we calculate the two-dimensional relationship of multiple persons and visualize it as 3D contours in real-time. Our method can sense and visualize invisible and unconscious PS distributions and convey the spatial relationship of users by an intuitive visual representation. The results of this paper can be used to Human Computer Interaction in public spaces.
