A Critical Exploration on Terms and Notations in Mathematics Curriculum and Textbooks (교육과정과 교과서에 제시된 용어·기호에 대한 비판적 고찰)

  • This study explored the problems of definitions and choices of terms and notations and proposed a few tasks for improvement of them included , , of high school mathematics based on 2009 revised mathematics curriculum and textbooks. We explored the problems on the features of the methods and contents of definitions of terms and notations in the viewpoint of the possibilities of difficulties on students' understanding, and proposed several criteria for choices of terms and notations in curriculum. And we proposed several tasks to improve the problems as follows: we need to implement much analyses and discussions on terms and notations and to open the results, to make the criteria for the examinations of mathematics textbooks in the viewpoint of therm and notation, to consider the differences of the methods of definitions among primary, middle, and high schools, and to consider the changes of terms and notations and the methods for introduction of them in textbooks.

A Dynamic Task Distribution approach using Clustering of Data Centers and Virtual Machine Migration in Mobile Cloud Computing (모바일 클라우드 컴퓨팅에서 데이터센터 클러스터링과 가상기계 이주를 이용한 동적 태스크 분배방법)

  • Offloading tasks from mobile devices to available cloud servers were improved since the introduction of the cloudlet. With the implementation of dynamic offloading algorithms, mobile devices can choose the appropriate server for the set of tasks. However, current task distribution approaches do not consider the number of VM, which can be a critical factor in the decision making. This paper proposes a dynamic task distribution on clustered data centers. A proportional VM migration approach is also proposed, where it migrates virtual machines to the cloud servers proportionally according to their allocated CPU, in order to prevent overloading of resources in servers. Moreover, we included the resource capacity of each data center in terms of the maximum CPU in order to improve the migration approach in cloud servers. Simulation results show that the proposed mechanism for task distribution greatly improves the overall performance of the system.

Comparison of Curriculum between Dental Hygienists and Dentists in Korea (치위생학과와 치의학과의 교육과정 비교)

  • Introduction: All work of dental hygienists in Korea is to be carried out under the supervision of a dentist, but the main tasks of dental hygienists are systematic and sufficiently trained within the college curriculum. The purpose of this study was to compare the curriculum between the Department of Dental Hygiene and the Department of Dentistry to provide a basis for legal revision of the dental hygienist's unique work. Methods: The curriculum was acquired from the homepage of the Department of Dental Hygiene and Dentistry. The curriculum in 23 of 28 dental hygiene schools and 6 of 11 dental schools was identified on the homepage. The swere classified based on the scope of dental hygienist work. Results: The Department of Dentistry has more than twice the number of credits and subjects compared to the Department of Dental Hygiene, and the top subjects belong to the treatment and rehabilitation of dental diseases. However, in the field of preventive dentistry, which is a unique work of dental hygienists, the Department of Dental Hygiene has a score of 9.3 times higher than that of dentistry. In the public oral health field, the oral health education field, and the dental management field, dental hygienists scored twice as high as dentists. Conclusion: Since dental hygienists are receiving more education than dentists in the areas of preventive dentistry, public oral health, oral health education, and dental management, which are unique tasks, it is suggested that the work can be performed independently without supervision of the dentist.

The Effects of Graphics Representation of Trigonometry Modelling on Question Generating and Idea Sharing (삼각함수의 모델링에서 그래픽 과정이 학생들의 질문 생성과 수학적 아이디어 교환에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to qualitatively examine the effects of graphics representation of trigonometry modelling concerning question generating and idea sharing. The experimental setting(Experiment Group) was one class (N=26) at a public high school. The modelling process was designed as a process-oriented conceptualization divided into three steps i.e., (1) game with idea sharing and question generating, (2) graphic representation, and (3) symbolization in the mathematical applied tasks related to trigonometry function. The result indicates that Graphic Representation with Game Activity increases the opportunity of question generating and idea sharing during experimental work. Also, the results show that the introduction of computer graphics enhances the teaching of mathematical quantity in highschool classrooms.

Progress and Future Tasks of Korean Health Promoting Schools (한국형 건강증진학교 추진 경과와 향후 과제)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this review is to introduce the progress of health promoting schools in Korea and future tasks. Method: From 2009 to 2018, we reviewed the literature on health promotion schools in Korea conducted by the Ministry of Education Results: Over the past decade, Korean health promoting schools have operated from a minimum of 14 schools to a maximum of 98 schools each year. As a result of the effectiveness evaluation, it was found that the students had a positive influence not only on the health behavior but also on the whole school life. Under the organic cooperation of the Ministry of Education, the Office of Education, the Korean Educational Development Institute and the schools, consulting, provision of educational opportunities for teachers, promotion of good practices, and public relations support systems for generalization are well established. Conclusion: Promotion and support system for Korean health promoting schools are already well established. Nevertheless, there are limitations on the universalization of health promoting schools, so various attempts such as introduction of certification system should be continued to overcome them.

Analysis of the Prediction of Operation Processes based on Mode of Operation for Ships: Applying Delphi method

  • The digital transformation of the shipbuilding, shipping, and logistics sectors is predicted to lead to the introduction of autonomous ships and changes in the way ships are operated. The co-existence of various operation forms, such as autonomous operation and remote operation, with the existing operation methods is expected to lead to the transformation of the ship operation process and the emergence of new stakeholders. This paper studies the future ship operation process according to the change in ship operation method, predicts the change in the operating environment of future ships, and derives functional requirements by major tasks and stakeholders. The Delphi technique is applied to construct a ship operation scenario from the planning stage of voyage and cargo transport to the stage of arrival at the final destination port and discharge of cargo, and to predict future work changes by task and actor. Seafarers' activities are expected to be minimised by remote and autonomous operation, and experts in each field are expected to have responsibilities and tasks in different aspects of ship operation.

Survey research to implement a job-based national practical exam for dental technicians (치과기공사의 직무기반 국가 실기시험 실행을 위한 조사 연구)

  • Purpose: This study proposes measures needed to implement a job-based national practical exam for dental technicians. Methods: For this study, a survey was conducted targeting 244 currently employed individuals. The current national practical test for dental technicians was divided into directions for the job-based practical test, subjects that need improvement among the current practical test subjects, items that need to be reflected in the practical test evaluation for each subject, and subjects that need to be added to the practical test. It comprised ten questions (Cronbach's α=0.801). Results: The following results were obtained. Satisfaction with the current practical test was lower than average. Future improvement should focus on job-based evaluation. The dental ceramic lab technology subject needs to be reorganized urgently, and the tasks that require evaluation for each subject are different. Moreover, if evaluation subjects are added in the future, the introduction of assessment for dental CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing) subjects was found to be the most urgent. Conclusion: In this study, the most necessary tasks of the current national practical examination for dental technicians were evaluated and the content needed for future reorganization was investigated. Future tests should be expanded to evaluate critical job areas. Furthermore, it is necessary to open new courses in fields such as CAD/CAM, as they are in high demand in the workplace.

Knowledge and Experiences of Risks among Pupils in Vocational Education

  • Background: Young male and female workers are over-represented in statistics concerning negative outcomes of poor work environment and risky work. Young workers often have low awareness of risk, a lack of safety training, and inadequate introduction to the work. The aim of this study was to identify the knowledge and experiences of pupils of vocational schools concerning potential work environment risks in their future work. Methods: The study design was a dual one, and included a questionnaire and focus group interviews. The study group consisted of 239 pupils from 10 upper secondary schools, who were graduating pupils in four vocational programs: the Industrial Technology Programme, the Restaurant Management and Food Programme, the Transport Programme, and the Handicraft Programme (in which students specialize in wood products). The upper secondary schools were located in the central region of Sweden. Results: The pupils had limited knowledge that employers must, by law, conduct risk analyses and prevent risks. Many felt that they themselves are mainly responsible for performing their tasks safely. Pupils in all programs mentioned acute risk as the greatest risk at work. The theoretical education about safety at work was provided in the $1^{st}$ year of the 3-year vocational programs. Conclusion: A systematic approach to pupils' training in work environment, which is a basis for a safe and healthy workplace, is lacking. The study findings indicate that pupils are offered knowledge far from that intended by laws and by state-of-the-art occupational health risk research.

Current Status of Human Papillomavirus Infection and Introduction of Vaccination to the National Immunization Program in Korea: an Overview

  • Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the most common sexually transmitted infection and is associated with the development of cervical cancer. The purpose of this report is to provide the literature evidences on selecting the HPV vaccine for national immunization program (NIP) in Korea. To complete these tasks, we reviewed domestic and foreign literature on the current status of HPV infection, efficacy and effectiveness of HPV vaccine, safety of vaccine and cost effectiveness analysis of vaccination business. Given that the median age of first sexual intercourse is continuing to fall, this may have serious implications for HPV infection and cervical cancer incidence at the age of 20s. The World Health Organization recommends that the HPV vaccination should be included in the NIP being implemented in each country. Both the bivalent and quadrivalent vaccines have a 90% or greater preventive efficacy on cervical intraepithelial lesion 2-3 and cervical cancer by the HPV 16 or HPV 18. In the future, if HPV vaccination rate as part of NIP increases, it is expected that the incidence of HPV infection, genital warts, and cervical precancerous lesions will be decreased in the vaccination age group. Therefore, in order to increase the HPV vaccination rate at this point in Korea, social consensus and efforts such as the introduction and promotion of HPV vaccine to the NIP according to appropriate cost-effectiveness analysis are required.

A Study of The Current Early Childhood Education System Based on Elements of Education Publicness-Focusing on the introduction of the Nuri Curriculum- (교육 공공성에 비추어 본 유아교육 현황 분석 -누리과정 도입 이후를 중심으로- )

  • This study was studied to analyze the current early childhood education system based on elements of education publicness and to explore policy tasks for developing early childhood education policies. Qualitative literature analysis was conducted by collecting official government documents and reports from national research institutes, and the publicity level of early childhood education was evaluated based on the elements of publicity. As a result of the study, Korea's early childhood education policy has been promoted in the direction of strengthening the public nature of early childhood education, such as the introduction of the Nuri course. Quantitative expansion of public nature has been achieved, but now it is necessary to re-establish the policy direction focusing on the qualitative reinforcement of public nature and to supplement the system. This study suggests a direction for a review of early childhood education in general.
