  • Machine to machine (M2M) communication is a converged ICT(Information and Communications Technology) platform which can utilize communications services among people and things anytime, any place in realtime. The M2M platform consists of three components; M2M area networks sensing and generating data of things by various sensors and devices; public networks transporting those data; and M2M applications utilizing the aggregated data. There exist however two practical obstacles to realize the M2M communications in terms of interoperability between the WCDMA-based public network and the local networks based on W-Fi or ZigBee; one is the cost problem required to access the public network, and the other is the lack of a cost-effective modem or gateway to connect two different networks. In this paper, we proposed and implemented a novel M2M platform based on PWW (Person Area Network) which can resolve those two issues by using a proposed gateway connecting the local network and smartphones as application devices without access the WCDMA-based public network. We have shown that the proposed platform is very practical to adopt to the real environment by actual testing with the own developed smartphone applications.

  • The focus of traditional evaluations of ontologies is largely performance-based. A comparison of a new ontology with well-established ones, testing of ontologies in different applications, as well as any judgment of an ontology's appropriateness and relatedness to source data heavily rely on what results that ontology seems to manifest. This study, on the other hand, is an attempt to evaluate the quality of a particular ontology as manifested by its structure, representation, and interoperability. To that end, major categories of quality evaluations were first identified through an extensive survey of literature. Evaluation questions were formulated from these categories using the Delphi method and were validated by ontology experts. The entire process produced a set of 53 evaluation questions, which was then employed to test the quality of a newly-developed smartphone ontology.

  • 본 논문에서는 ATM 통신프로토콜을 위한 자동시험시스템인 ACTS(ATM Conformance Test System)의 개발과 적용을 소개한다. Abstract This paper presents development and application of ACTS(ATM Conformance Test System), an automated test system for ATM protocols. ACTS is a test system that checks conformance of ATM terminal and network equipment implementing either ITU-T or ATM Forum user-network interface. This paper, after presenting the methodology and process used for developing ACTS, conducts case studies of its applications to real ATM equipment. By applying ACTS, we were able to detect numerous problems in protocol implementations of ATM equipment and analyse causes of the problems, thereby demonstrating the efficacy of ACTS as an efficient automated testing tool. Furthermore, by predicting the potential effects of the problems on interoperability, we show how ACTS can be used as a useful tool for ensuring interoperable ATM equipment.

  • IFC converters and viewers, applicable in the construction field, are being actively developed while, in the civil engineering field, IFC schemata are being developed. To prove the IFC schema grammatically, the existing ISO 10303 30s' pre-processors and post-processors may be used. However, to visually prove the IFC model, the existing commercial 3D modeling software should be converted into the IFC schema of civil engineering field, and a viewer is needed to view it. Thus, this study developed a IFC converter and viewer prototype system to apply BIM in the road field. To express the road line, LandXML was analyzed, and IFC suitable for expressing shapes in the road field was designed. Also, an IFC suitable for bridges with focus on representative bridge structures such as abuts, piers and decks was designed. Further, a converter was developed using AutoCAD's Civil3D and Revit's 3rdp party tools, and software was also developed designed to combine each converted IFC model into one IFC. In addition, a viewer designed to view IFC in the road field was developed to prove the converted IFC. Eight major verification and examination items were selected and used in testing the converted model, and it was confirmed that the viewer normally viewed the IFC schema in the road field. The proposed IFC converter is expected to be used as a visual IFC verification tool in the road field.

  • This study set out to define a communication environment between an ITS center and field device required to be introduced in the nation in order to guarantee the interoperability, compatibility, and global competitiveness of communication between them in the nation. It also aimed to establish technical and policy plans for its introduction, develop an emulator for information exchange, and apply VMS by way of showing an example, thus testing its validity. First, a standard environment for information exchange between an ITS center and field device required to be introduced in the nation was defined as a dual protocol between DATEX and SNMP. The study also proposed a message definition system including meta-attribution definition and OID introduction. The study then suggested technical and policy plans for its introduction including securing enough feasibility with feedback through a model project of standard introduction, offering education and promotions for the standard in advance, providing methods to introduce and systematically manage OID, developing a hardware standard proper for the information exchange standard, and setting up an integrated management system to introduce a dual protocol.

  • Exchanging personal health information(PHI) is an essential process of healthcare services using information and communication technology. But the process have the inherent risk of information disclosure, so the PHI should be protected to ensure the reliability of healthcare services. In this paper, we designed encryption module for wearable personal health devices(PHD). A main goal is to guarantee that the real-time encoded and transmitted PHI cannot be allowed to be read, revised and utilized without user's permission. To achieve this, encryption algorithms as DES and 3DES were implemented in modules operating in Telos Rev B(16bit RISC, 8Mhz). And the experiments were performed in order to evaluate the performance of encryption and decryption using vital-sign measured by PHD. As experimental results, an block encryption was measured the followings: DES required 1.802 ms and 3DES required 6.683 ms. Also, we verified the interoperability among heterogeneous devices by testing that the encrypted data in Telos could be decoded in other machines without errors. In conclusion, the encryption module is the method that a PHD user is given the powerful right to decide for authority of accessing his PHI, so it is expected to contribute the trusted healthcare service distribution.

  • The study of the compatibility of EPUB DRM, granted by the Korea Copyright Commission, as a CT R & D project (Project Title: The Development of the standard reference software technology for International Standard EPUB-based eBook DRM) developed standards such as profile standards for encryption digital signature and authentication certificates and standards for technical terms of rights information. In 2012, these four standards have been established as the Korean Industrial Standards under the names of 'Encryption specification for EPUB DRM,' 'the Digital signature specification for EPUB DRM,' 'the Certificate specification for EPUB DRM,' and 'Definitions of Right Terms for EPUB DRM' through the ODPF(Open Digital Standardization Forum) and the TTA(Telecommunications Technology Association). The research project also proposed standards of ebook DRM license protocols in order for the four standards to practically apply to ebook DRM compatibility. It is necessary for technology standards to require a compatibility standard test process for testing whether implementations which were developed on the basis of the standard specification, comply with standards. This study suggests an automated compatible standard test method and a test model under the ebook DRM standard technical specification.

  • Nowadays, studies on the fusion of Semantic Web technologies are being carried out to promote the interoperability and value of sensor data in an IoT environment. To accomplish this, the semantic translation of sensor data is essential for convergence with service domain knowledge. The existing semantic translation technique, however, involves translating from static metadata into semantic data(RDF), and cannot properly process real-time and large-scale features in an IoT environment. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a technique for translating large-scale streaming sensor data generated in an IoT environment into semantic data, using real-time and parallel processing. In this technique, we define rules for semantic translation and store them in the semantic repository. The sensor data is translated in real-time with parallel processing using these pre-defined rules and an ontology-based semantic model. To improve the performance, we use the Apache Storm, a real-time big data analysis framework for parallel processing. The proposed technique was subjected to performance testing with the AWS observation data of the Meteorological Administration, which are large-scale streaming sensor data for demonstration purposes.
