최근 통신망이 광대역화 됨에 따라 다양한 양방향 TV 서비스를 제공하는 IPTV(Internet Protocol Television)서비스가 증가하고 있다. 그러나 IPTV의 셋톱박스와 스마트 카드 간에 전달되는 데이터가 셋톱박스 내에서 대부분 전달되기 때문에 맥코맥 핵 공격을 이용하여 불법적으로 콘텐츠 내용에 접근하여 합법적인 권한을 획득하는 불법 사용자를 완벽하게 예방할 수 없다. 이 논문에서는 스마트카드로부터 셋톱박스까지 연결된 데이터 라인을 불법 사용자가 동일 기종의 다른 셋톱박스를 이용하여 불법적으로 IPTV 서비스의 접근 허가를 받으려는 맥코맥 핵공격(McComac Hack Attack)을 예방하기 위한 셋톱박스 접근 보안 모델을 제안한다. 제안 모델은 사전에 셋톱박스에 사용가능한 스마트 카드의 상태정보를 등록하여 불법적으로 접근허가를 승인받으려는 사용자를 인증서버에서 점검하여 점검 결과를 셋톱박스에 통보하여 불법 사용자를 사전에 예방한다. 특히, 제안 모델은 Pseudo 랜덤 함수를 통해 생성된 임의의 난수와 비밀값을 통해 이웃 링크 설립과 상호 인증 과정에 사용되는 공개키에 적용하여 셋탑박스에 대한 보안을 강화하고 있다.

Internet protocol television (IPTV), one of the most emerging services, offers multimedia streaming services with security, reliability, and relevant quality of service (QoS)/quality of experience (QoE). It provides added values to all the involving players and also brings technical and business challenges to them. For IPTV services, we expect to adopt the next generation network (NGN) environment for high quality and the Web technologies for personalization to meet the customer's necessity. Web can provide an open, flexible, and agile platform. Therefore, in this paper, we propose personalized IPTV services based on Web-based open platform in NGN environment and present functional architecture for Web-based personalized IPTV services. Technical issues for deploying the proposed IPTV services using Web are also provided. The objective of this paper is to analyze the critical architectural issues for developing viable and feasible networking platform models for personalized IPTV services.

In order for end-users in home networks to receive opportunities for useful services that go beyond legacy Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) services, this paper proposes a service platform that resides on the residential gateway (RG) for interworking between the home network and IPTV. This proposed service platform is called the home-oriented IPTV service platform (HISP) on the RG (HISP-RG). The proposed HISP-RG provides open architecture and functionalities to enable 3rd party IPTV service providers to locally and directly deliver home-oriented IPTV services to end-users in home networks. The HISP-RG can be an "add-on" and not a "built-in" solution for the existing standard RG. This paper introduces several home-oriented IPTV services that can be executed and delivered locally through the HISP-RG. Then, the open architecture and functionalities of the HISP-RG are defined and their requirements are specified. Finally, use cases of the HISP-RG for home-oriented IPTV services are presented.

As the Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) service enters the broadcasting market, the competition intensifies. This paper explains the factors influencing new media subscription and their influential differences on IPTV and digital cable TV (DCTV). We use the information systems success model and gratification opportunity theory to develop our research model. We sample 621 people and collect their responses through web-based measuring software. Structural model analysis shows that the willingness to subscribe to a new broadcasting medium is influenced by three characteristics of the medium: media richness, interactivity, and video quality. Multigroup analysis reveals that motivation to use a medium partially differs between IPTV and DCTV. This research concludes that the IPTV service is not attractive enough to act as a substitute for the already existing DCTV. In addition, for the IPTV service to proliferate, its business model should be promoted with new and differentiated revenue structures and services. The managerial implications in this study help new media businesses set business goals and product functionality, and allocate resources for the continued diffusion of IPTV.

IPTV(Internet Protocol Television)가 상용화되고 있는 시점에서 수많은 채널과 방송 콘텐츠가 기하급수적으로 늘어나고 있고, 많은 사람들이 이동 단말기를 통해 IPTV를 언제 어디서나 사용하려는 요구가 증가할 것이다. 수많은 채널의 정보를 수집하기 위한 EPG(Electronic Program Guide) 서비스를 IP(Internet Protoco) 통신을 이용하여 방송 콘텐츠의 빠른 검색을 위한 EPG 서비스를 활용하는 시점에 있다. 현재 유선망을 이용한 IPTV를 안드로이드 기반의 모바일 환경에서도 EPG 서비스를 활용할 수 있는 환경을 제공하기 위한 연구가 진행되고 있고, 국내 디지털 방송의 표준이 유럽의 DVB-MHP 표준안을 따르고 있는 만큼 EPG 서비스도 그에 따른 연구 및 개발이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 유선망을 이용한 IPTV의 채널 EPG 서비스 정보를 모바일 환경에서 사용자 중심의 채널 EPG 서비스 정보를 최대한 제공하여 사용자가 콘텐츠에 손쉽고 빠르게 검색할 수 있는 환경을 제공하고자 하며, 안드로이드 기반의 모바일 환경에서 IPTV의 채널 EPG 서비스를 활용하기 위해 방송 채널을 사용자 입장에서 EPG 서비스 정보를 수집하는 검색 시스템을 제안한다.

Continuous usages of Internet Protocol Television(IPTV) is regarded as one of key factors for IPTV success. Quality improvement and increasing user satisfaction are generally contributed to intention to continue using of innovation technology. We classify the quality constructs into information quality, service quality, system quality, and experience quality and find how these constructs affect on user satisfaction and intention to continue using of IPTV. We perform factor analysis to IPTV users by developing a causal relationship model and defining measurement variables for the constructs. Through regression analysis, we found information quality and experience quality are significant to affect on intention to continue using of IPTV.

National support for use of IPTV in school has increased for the purpose of enhancing public education. As a convergence media, IPTV is expected to create a better and more successful learning experience with individualized content and advanced technology. While the potential benefits of IPTV have been discussed in different perspectives, we cannot fully benefit from new media without careful preparation and pedagogical consideration. Therefore, purpose of this study was to investigate educational use and applicability of IPTV in Korea. First, it redefines the concept and characteristics of IPTV in an educational context. Second, it identifies the main issues and considerations in practice. Lastly, the paper discusses guidelines for future tasks to facilitate the educational use of IPTV in terms of educational application, technological issues (e.g., LMS, set-top box), and content development.

IPTV 서비스는 인터넷 망을 통해 가입자가 원하는 양방향 멀티미디어 콘텐츠를 제공하는 통신 방송 융합 서비스이다. 그러나 현재 개발되고 있는 CAS 기반의 IPTV 서비스는 댁내에 존재하는 IPTV 서비스 가용 단말들로 방송 콘텐츠를 재분배하는 과정에서 셋탑박스와 IPTV 서비스 가용 단말간의 보안, 댁외로 이동하는 IPTV 서비스 가입자의 이동성 지원을 위한 보안을 제공하지 못한다. 본 논문에서는 댁내 셋탑박스에서 이동 단말로 안전하게 콘텐츠를 재분배하기 위한 인증 프로토콜과 댁외로 이동한 사용자 단말의 네트워크 접속 인증 및 서비스 접속인증을 위한 인증 프로토콜을 제안 한다. 제안 기법은 대리 서명 기법을 적용하여 기존 CAS 시스템을 통해 전달되는 콘텐츠를 재암호화 과정 없이 전달할 수 있다. 그리고 STB가 인증 서버를 대신하여 발급한 서명을 이용하여 댁외로 이동한 사용자 단말에 대한 네트워크 접속 인증과 IPTV 서비스 접속 인증을 동시에 수행할 수 있다. 또한 기존 보안 기술들과의 비교 분석을 통해 인증 프로토콜 적용에 따른 전체 통신 오버헤드 및 연산시간이 감소함을 보였다.

본 논문에서는 MMT(MPEG Media Transport)와 MPEG-2 TS(Transport Stream)의 전달 오버헤드(overhead)를 비교한다. MPEG-2 TS는 DTV(Digital Television), IPTV(Internet Protocol Television), DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) 등 디지털 방송 분야에서 압축된 오디오 및 비디오 데이터를 다중화하여 전송하기 위한 프로토콜로서 전 세계적으로 널리 사용되고 있다. MPEG-2 TS 표준은 1990년대 초에 제정되었으며, 그 후 20여 년이 지나면서 MPEG-2 TS의 많은 부분들이 오늘날의 방송과 통신 환경에 적합하지 않게 되었다. 이러한 상황에서, 2014년 MPEG(ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 29/WG 11)에서는 MPEG-2 TS를 대체할 수 있는 차세대 멀티미디어 전달 표준으로서 MMT를 표준화하였다. 본 논문에서는 방송 서비스 시나리오를 가정하고, MMT와 MPEG-2 TS를 적용하여 그에 따른 전달 오버헤드를 계산하였다. 본 논문을 위해 연구실에서 제작한 전달 오버헤드 계산 소프트웨어를 사용하였으며, 계산 결과를 바탕으로 이 두 방식의 전달 오버헤드를 비교, 분석하였다.

본 논문에서는 IDC를 기반으로 한 FLV 동영상 솔루션을 Mini IPTV에 적용한 시스템 설계 및 구현을 제안한다. IDC의 에너지를 최소화하고, 자원 활용을 극대화시키는 Green Data Center로 설계하며, Mini IPTV의 다양한 콘텐츠를 서비스 공급자 및 네트워크 공급자가 네트워크를 통해 Mini IPTV 가입자에게 제공한다. 이때 FLV 솔루션 파일 포맷과 압축 기술을 이용해 동영상의 화질과 압축률을 개선하도록 구현함으로써, 트래픽 비용의 절감 및 보안 문제를 해결하고, 특히 웹에서 급속히 팽창하고 있는 e-Learning 분야에 활용하고자 한다.
