  • This paper predicts how mobile Internet portal services will go ahead and what contents will be needed at the portal site. Mobile Internet interface needs to be concise and compressed because of the size of terminals Thus mobile internal service wants integrated portal service We study the service strategy for mobile internet portal Service according to the product life cycle Many Korean people who have used 'wired and fixed' Internet services and mobile phones want the mobile Internet portal to provide many attractive functions and high quality of service Thus we consider the current Korean mobile Internet service as the maturity phase of its life cycle The maturity phase needs the strategy of diversifying and focusing on, thus we recommend the hub portal model for Korean mobile Internet service, In this paper, we survey contents of mobile Internet portal service as a case study. With the result of the analysis, we present the promising contents as follows: video conference service, financial service, stock trading service, traffic information service, location map service, emergency rescue service, and so on.

Thai Internet Users' Personality Traits and their Preferred Web Portal's Characteristics

  • The objective of this research is to identify a web portal's specific functions and layouts that are aligned with personality trait of an individual internet user. This first stage of the overall research project intends to check whether the research instrument, namely the NEO Five Factors Inventory (NEO-FFI), is applicable to assess the personality traits of Thai internet users. Based on these personality traits, text-based description of functions/layouts of a web portal was developed and given to professional designers to mock up example web portal pages. These web portal pages were in alignment with individual personality traits. Rating data on the functions/layouts corresponding to individual personality traits were collected from an online survey of 207 Thai internet users. Results showed that respondents gave more consistent rating to the functions/layouts close to their individual personality traits identified in the text-based descriptions than in the mocked-up web portal pages.

  • As the Internet service is expanding rapidly, portal sites, a gateway tn the net, are attracting increasing attention these days. As the Internet service has expanded rapidly, so has the interest for portal sites,, which serve as a gateway to the net. Despite the tendency, however, research on a measure by which to evaluate the quality of portal sites or development of such measures has not been fully pursued. As online services, faced with profitability, are considering 'charge per view', the development of a set of quality evaluation measures for portal services will prove to become a valuable instrument in constructing competitive strategies that are vital for survival and growth of a firm. In that regard, this study aims to develop a set of evaluation measures for Internet portal sites by empirically investigating the most common offline measures for quality of services, SERVQUAL, retail SERVQUAL and other evaluation measures for IT-related online services. Moreover, the study offers the strategic implications of the defined measures.

인터넷 시작페이지 포털사이트 결정요인과 만족에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Determinants and Satisfaction of Portal Cite in Internet Initiation Page)

  • This research develops, and empirically test a model for explaining/predicting the Determinants and Satisfaction of Portal Cite in Internet Initiation Page. Also this paper describes a theoretical model for investigating the service quality satisfaction in the Internet Initiation Page. This research is the first to empirical test the causal relationships in determinants of Portal Cite. The model of the satisfaction for Portal Cite are tested here using data from 224 samples. Based on the research model, a comprehensive set of hypotheses is formulated and a methodology for testing them is outlined. some of the hypotheses are tested empirically to demonstrate the applicability of the theoretical model. In examining the relationships of the determinants factors, satisfaction show in significantly by Convenience, Information Provided, Entertainments, Interaction but that show in not significantly by the Trustworthiness, In addition, Portal Cite in Internet Initiation Page shows indirect effect between customer satisfaction and referral.

인터넷 포털이미지가 장기지향성, 소비자 만족도 및 추천의도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the Image of Internet Portal on Long-Term Orientation, Consumer Satisfaction. and Recommendation Intention)

  • 경쟁이 심화되고 있는 인터넷 포털시장에서 지속적인 성장을 위해 인터넷 포털이미지와 장기지향성과의 관계를 살펴보고자 하였다. 구체적으로 인터넷 포털이미지가 장기지향성에 미치는 영향력과 만족도 및 추천의도와의 관계를 파악하고자 하였다. 실증분석결과 인터넷 포털사이트의 이미지평가속성은 정보제공성, 오락 및 부가서비스, 고객서비스, 편리성 등의 요인으로 도출되었다. 네 요인 모두 이용포털사이트에 대한 장기지향성에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 정보제공성과 오락 및 부가서비스가 가장 높은 영향력을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 장기지향성은 소비자의 만족도와 추천의도에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있으며, 해당 포털에 대한 만족도는 추천의도에도 유의한 영향을 미치고 있음이 확인되었다. 이러한 연구결과는 시장에서 차별적인 인터넷 포털의 경쟁전략을 수립하는데 유용한 기초자료가 될 것으로 생각된다.

  • This study aims to compare internet portal sites for rural tourism, and to suggest the improved contents for homepage information on mountain villages under the Korea Forest Service. Design, interface, information source, and communication as estimation indicators were used to understand the characteristics of portal sites, and sub-items under indicators to analyse the portal sites were established. Nationwide portal sites were compared for rural tourism information. Also, German and Italian portal sites were compared as overseas cases. As a result, an internet portal site for information on mountain villages under the Korea Forest Service has to be improved as compared with other portal sites related to rural tourism. Firstly, it is necessary to modify and improve the category explaining mountain villages. Secondly, homepage for developing mountain villages has to be established and linked to potential visitors. Thirdly, portal sites for developing mountain villages subsequently have to be constructed under the site of the Korea Forest Service.

  • Internet portal sites have served customers for more than a decade in Korea. There have been several such sites have survived, succeeded and led the internet industry. What is the source of their competitiveness? We assumed that the network effect, which can vary dynamically, is an important factor; so we tried to build and analyze a system dynamics model on portal sites that represent their advertising business model. This model includes not only the network effect, but also customer's' expectations of the quality of portal sites, which also varies dynamically. As a result of our research, we can state that the network effect is important to stabilize and increase portal sites' quality, market share, income and cash flow. And we know that investment at a level above that which is merely required is necessary to preserve and stabilize their business.

실버포탈에서 제공하는 콘텐츠에 대한 선호도 연구: 40세 이상의 잠재 실버포탈 이용자를 중심으로 (An Exploratory Study on the Preference of Silver Portal Contents: Focused on the Pre-senior Internet Users)

  • 본 연구는 향후 40세 이상의 예비노인 및 노인들이 주도적으로 활용할 수 있는 전문 인터넷 포탈사이트를 실버포탈(silver portal)로 정의하고, 이러한 포탈이 향후 제공할 수 있는 콘텐츠 유형에 대하여 잠재 실버포탈 이용자들이 어떠한 선호도를 나타내는가를 파악하고자하였다. 특히, 본 연구에서는40세 이상의 예비노인의 개인의 특성(인구통계적 특성, 인터넷 이용 특성)에 따라 실버포탈이 제공할수 있는 콘텐츠 유형에 대한 선호도가 차이가 존재하는가를 탐색적 관점에서 파악함으로써, 향후 관련 실증연구들에서 적용하여 사용할수 있는 연구명제를 제시하고자 하였다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위해서, 본 연구에서는 서울과 경기지역에 거주하는 40세 이상의 인터넷 이용자들을 대상으로 설문지를 의뢰하여 실증적 통계분석을 수행하였다. 결과적으로, 본 연구는 개인의 여러 가지 특성에 따라 실버포탈의 콘텐츠 유형에 대한 선호도가 달라지는가를 파악할 수 있었으며, 이러한 분석결과를 토대로 향후 관련 연구들에서 적용할 수 있는 연구명제들을 제시할 수 있었다.
