PD-DESYNC: Practical and Deterministic Desynchronization in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Distributive desynchronization algorithms based on pulse-coupled oscillator (PCO) models have been proposed for achieving collision-free wireless transmissions. These algorithms do not depend on a global clock or infrastructure overheads. Moreover, they gradually converge to fair time-division multiple access (TDMA) scheduling by broadcasting a periodic pulse signal (called a 'firing') and adjusting the next firing time based on firings from other nodes. The time required to achieve constant spacing between phase neighbors is estimated in a closed form or via stochastic modeling. However, because these algorithms cannot guarantee the completion of desynchronization in a short and bounded timeframe, they are not practical. Motivated by the limitations of these methods, we propose a practical solution called PD-DESYNC that provides a short and deterministic convergence time using a flag firing to indicate the beginning of a cycle. We demonstrate that the proposed method guarantees the completion of desynchronization within three cycles, regardless of the number of nodes. Through extensive simulations and experiments, we confirm that PD-DESYNC not only outperforms other algorithms in terms of convergence time but also is a practical solution.

A Reinforcement Learning Framework for Autonomous Cell Activation and Customized Energy-Efficient Resource Allocation in C-RANs

  • Cloud radio access networks (C-RANs) have been regarded in recent times as a promising concept in future 5G technologies where all DSP processors are moved into a central base band unit (BBU) pool in the cloud, and distributed remote radio heads (RRHs) compress and forward received radio signals from mobile users to the BBUs through radio links. In such dynamic environment, automatic decision-making approaches, such as artificial intelligence based deep reinforcement learning (DRL), become imperative in designing new solutions. In this paper, we propose a generic framework of autonomous cell activation and customized physical resource allocation schemes for energy consumption and QoS optimization in wireless networks. We formulate the problem as fractional power control with bandwidth adaptation and full power control and bandwidth allocation models and set up a Q-learning model to satisfy the QoS requirements of users and to achieve low energy consumption with the minimum number of active RRHs under varying traffic demand and network densities. Extensive simulations are conducted to show the effectiveness of our proposed solution compared to existing schemes.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify Internet usage for the implementation of Quick Response Supply Chain Management across Business-to-Business Electronic Commerce in textile and apparel industry. This paper involves theoretical studies, which developed 3 steps to analyze the relationship of B-to-B EC, SCM, and QR, and provides broader awareness of new trend in the textile and apparel industry. SCM as one of B-to-B EC solutions introduced QR into the textile and apparel industry in 1985, and B-to-B EC is regarded as a means for achievement of QR with the widespread adoption of Internet technologies by businesses over the last four years. Finally, the Internet enables textile and apparel firms to access international networks of suppliers, distributors, and customers, so Internet-based B-to-B EC, SCM, and QR with Internet/EDI and XML/EDI are expected to become a central part in propelling fashion business into new directions.

모바일 환경에서 구매의도에 영향을 미치는 요인 (The Study on Purchase Intention of the Mobile Environment)

  • The progress of mobile internet technologies has changed user access to information. The mobile internet allows to obtain contents and services from wireless networks via mobile devices. The purpose of this study is th find out important factors that influence on the customer purchase intention by mobile internet environment. Base on TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) and the latest literature, a comprehensive set of constructs and hypotheses were compiled with a methodology for testing them. We suggested five factors that effect purchase intention in mobile internet environment: Enjoyment Ease of use, Usefulness, Mobility, Trust To validate the research model, we collected data from cellular phone user using an online survey. The results of this study are as follows. First enjoyment ease of un, usefulness, and mobility had positive effects on trust. Second, Usefulness, ease of use, and trust had positive effects on purchase intention to use mobile internet. Third, enjoyment and mobility did not have positive effects on purchase intention to use mobile internet. Based on these results, we suggest marketing strategies.

  • Middleware enables different networking devices and protocols to inter-operate in ubiquitous home network environments. The UPnP(Universal Plug and Play) middleware, which runs on a PC and is based on the IPv4 protocol, has attracted much interest in the field of home network research since it has versatility The UPnP, however, cannot be easily accessed via the public Internet since the UPnP devices that provide services and the Control Points that control the devices are configured with non-routable local private or Auto IP networks. The critical question is how to access UPnP network via the public Internet. The purpose of this paper is to deal with the non-routability problem in local private and Auto IP networks by improving the conventional Control Point used in UPnP middleware-based home networks. For this purpose, this paper proposes an improved Control Point for accessing and controlling the home network from remote sites via the public Internet, by adding a web server to the conventional Control Point. The improved Control Point is implemented in an embedded GNU/Linux system running on an ARM9 platform. Also this paper implements the security of the home network system based on the UPnP (Universal Plug and Play), adding VPN (Virtual Private Network) router that uses the IPsec to the home network system which is consisted of the ARM9 and the Embedded Linux.

Adaptive Deadline-aware Scheme (ADAS) for Data Migration between Cloud and Fog Layers

  • The advent of Internet of Things (IoT) and the evident inadequacy of Cloud networks concerning management of numerous end nodes have brought about a shift of paradigm giving birth to Fog computing. Fog computing is an extension of Cloud computing that extends Cloud resources at the edge of the network, closer to the user. Cloud computing has become one of the essential needs of people over the Internet but with the emerging concept of IoT, traditional Clouds seem inadequate. IoT entails extremely low latency and for that, the Cloud servers that are distant and unknown to the user appear to be unsuitable. With the help of Fog computing, the Fog devices installed would be closer to the user that will provide an immediate storage for the frequently needed data. This paper discusses data migration between different storage types especially between Cloud devices and then presents a mechanism to migrate data between Cloud and Fog Layer. We call this mechanism Adaptive Deadline-Aware Scheme (ADAS) for Data migration between Cloud and Fog. We will demonstrate that we can access and process latency sensitive "hot" data through the proposed ADAS more efficiently than with a traditional Cloud setup.

  • 모바일 클라우드 컴퓨팅의 핵심은 이동 노드가 끊임없는 서비스를 제공받는 것이다. Mobile IPv6(MIPv6)는 Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)에 의해 표준화된 이동성 제공 프로토콜이다. Mobile IPv6 빠른 핸드오버 (FMIPv6)는 MIPv6의 확장으로, MIPv6의 단점들을 보완하기 위해 제안되었다. 최근 들어, 광대역 무선 제어 시스템 중 하나인 IEEE 802.16e 환경에서의 Mobile IPv6를 위한 빠른 핸드오버가 IETF에 의해 제안되었다. 이것은 교차계층 빠른 핸드오버를 제공하기 위해 설계되었다. 본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.16e 네트워크에서의 향상된 교차계층 Mobile IPv6 빠른 핸드오버를 제안한다. 제안하는 방식에서 새로운 접속 라우터는 2계층 트리거를 이용하여 이동 노드를 위한 새 주소를 생성한다. 이동 노드의 정보를 새로운 접속 라우터에게 알리기 위하여 새로운 베이스 스테이션에서 새로운 접속 라우터로 보내지는 2계층 메시지를 이용한다. 이동 노드의 새 주소를 획득하면 이전 접속 라우터는 이동 노드의 홈 에이전트에게 바인딩 갱신 메시지를 보낸다. 시그널링 비용과 핸드오버 지연에 대하여 제안하는 방안의 성능을 기존 방안들과 비교하여 성능평가를 수행한다. 결과를 통해, 제안하는 방안이 기존 방안들에 비해 IEEE 802.16e 네트워크에서의 빠른 핸드오버를 효과적으로 제공하는 것을 볼 수 있다.

경쟁기반 이기종 무선 통신망의 공존 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis on Coexistence of Contention-based Heterogeneous Wireless Networks)

  • 본 논문은 전송 전력과 전송 범위가 서로 다른 이기종 무선 통신망이 경쟁 기반의 채널 접속 프로토콜을 사용하여 공존하는 경우 채널 공유의 형평성과 효율에 관해 분석한다. 먼저, 기존에 널리 사용되는 경쟁 기반의 채널 접속 메커니즘인 CSMA(Carrier Sensing Multiple Access) 프로토콜을 사용하여 채널을 공유하는 경우, 이기종 시스템간의 반송파 감지의 비대칭성과 간섭으로 인한 전송실패를 인지하지 못하는 이진 지수 백오프 메커니즘과 링크 적응 메커니즘에 의해 채널이 불공평하게 공유됨을 밝힌다. 다음으로, 공간 재사용성과 공평한 채널 공유를 동시에 보장할 수 있는 반송파 감지 문턱값의 조건을 유도하고, 통신망의 처리율에 관한 수학적인 모형을 수립하여 경쟁 윈도우와 전송 속도가 채널 공유의 형평성과 효율에 끼치는 영향을 분석한다. 마지막으로, 다양한 환경에서의 모의 실험을 수행하여 공평한 채널 공유를 위한 여러 가지 접근 방법의 채널 공유 성능을 비교한다.

다중 네트워크 인터페이스를 지원하는 액세스 포인트 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of Access Point Supporting Multiple Network Interfaces)

  • 최근 무선 랜의 확산과 블루투스 등의 개인 무선 통신의 발전으로 네트워크 환경은 점차 유무선 구분 없이 쉽게 네트워크에 접속할 수 있도록 변화되고 있다. 또한, 가정 내의 노트북, PDA 등의 네트워크 군기의 증가는 초고속 인터넷 라인을 공유하여 이용하고 기기 간에 네트워크를 구성해 작업하는 환경을 필요로 한다. 본 논문에서는 유무선 네트워크에 구분 없이 손쉽게 연결할 수 있고 인터넷에 접속할 수 있는 다중 네트워크 인터페이스를 지원하는 유무선 통합 액세스 포인트를 개발하여 기능을 시험하고 성능을 검증하였다. 각기 다른 네트워크간의 통합을 이루고 성능을 보장하기 위한 시스템 하드웨어 설계, 개발 단계부터 프로토콜 소프트웨어 개발까지 실질적 개발내용을 기술하고, 다양한 형태의 기기를 통한 네트워크 접속 시험을 통해 연동 및 성능에 대한 결과를 보였다.
