There is no easy answer to ensuring the world's rapid urban population growth is managed sustainably and in a manner that promotes economic growth, social cohesion, and health and wellbeing. However, densification of existing urban areas is increasingly recognised as an effective and socially responsible way for cities to accommodate growing populations and still operate as vital, vibrant spaces. The Future Spaces Foundation's Vital Cities: Transport Systems Scorecard explores how well-networked, safe and sustainable transport networks equip densifying cities to meet the needs of their rising and fast-changing populations. This paper uses data from the scorecard to examine the transport infrastructure and associated data networks of three large, rapidly densifying cities - Beijing, Mumbai and $S{\tilde{a}}o$ Paulo - and highlight the successful measures and policies implemented between them. It includes an in-depth explanation of the scorecard's methodology, and concludes with an appeal for people-focused transport design that values safety, urban vibrancy and individual wellbeing over corporate efficiency.

This paper identifies the productivity in the Global Air Transport Industry for the period of 1995-2001 by testing the Total Factor Productivity with tonqvist method. Based on panel data from 20 major international airline corporations which formed global strategic alliances, we find alliances make a considerably significant contribution to productivity increases. We also find that total factor productivity rate changed surprisingly in Air Transport Industry between pre- and post-Asian financial crisis period.

So far several attempts have been made to digitalizing sea transport documents. Three notable examples are SeaDocs, Bolero, e-B/L Korea and Ess-Databridge. Ess-Databridge was established in 2003, with the aim of promoting the use of electronic alternative to shipping documents. The ESS-Databridge system was piloted from 2005 and went live in January 2010. The ESS-Databridge operates under a private legal outline, the Databridge Services and Users Agreement (DSUA). In the Ess-Databridge system, only the user who is in control of the original bill of lading will be able to indorse it on to another user. Once the indorsement is effected and unless the indorsee decide store turn the documents, the indorser loses control and retains access only to an electronic document marked 'copy' for its records. A feature that appears to have been crucial to the success of the CargoDocs service is that visually, e-B/Ls produced using ESS-Databridge appear identical to the paper documents. The ESS-Databridge may be even more successful if the legislators take certain steps that will increase uniformity and certainty in electronic transport documentation.

To achieve a differential advantage over competitors and protect their long-term interest, shipping lines have striven to find ways to maintain an ongoing relationship with shippers which can be achieved by attaining their loyalty. The benefits of loyal shippers are potentially huge in that they generate long-term revenue streams as well as provide cost savings as compared with attracting new shippers. Logistics service provided by shipping lines is identified as one of the effective tools for building customer loyalty. However, in a review of the literature none of the studies examine how logistics service creates customer loyalty, particularly between shipping lines and shippers. Consequently, the overarching purpose of this paper is to extend knowledge on logistics service performance and its relationship with customer loyalty in the unique context of maritime transport by proposing a new conceptual model based on an extensive literature review. The major contribution is to offer a new insight into the complex relationships between those 'soft' concepts in the context of maritime transport.

The second-generation HTS wire its YBCO coated conductor is widely used in the superconducting power apparatus. The YBCO coated conductor uses the normal-superconducting junction to increase the transport capacity of superconducting power apparatus when it is applied. The normal-superconducting junction can be a cause of reducing the stability of the superconducting power apparatus when a fault current is applied. Thus, in this study we have conducted the effect analysing normal-superconducting junction for the fault current using transport current and quench resistance. From the experimental results when a fault current is applied, the effect on the normal-superconducting junction is reduced the larger the amplitude of the fault current and is helpful to maintain the thermal stability of the HTS wire.

Government tries to revise the article 25 in Korea Maritime Transport Act which describes subject of coastal carriage for exported-imported container cargoes. The subject of coastal carriage will be replaced coastal carrier by ocean liner carrier according to the revised article 25. By adopting the revised article, coastal shipping industry will be deteriorated in terms of returns on investment, sales and etc. Even though the revision is inevitable to harmonize the flow of exported-imported container cargo movement, coastal shipping industry should be developed and restructured to get competitive power and to set up an efficient international logistics system. To enhance competitive power of coastal shipping companies successfully, government must realize the importance of coastal shipping, and aid the industry through various methods such as arrangement of law and regulation, indirected financial assistance, decrease of tax rate, etc.

The aim of this study is to empirically examine fundamental factors that drive FDI to a particular location. This study further explores operating conditions of Korean firms in Myanmar. A survey methodology and then a regression analysis are employed. The study finds that the factors such as transportation, production factor, market, and cost play an important role for the location of FDI. However, the Korean investment in Myanmar decreases from 2013. The decrease of Korean investment implies that investing in Myanmar has not been profitable. The empirical study finds a complicated pattern of FDI. Large Korean firms are located far from the consumer market, thus, bear an increased transport cost to reach the consumer market. They are rather located in a place where they can access to a transport means and raw materials with low cost to export final products. They place FDI into a host country to serve as a production platform for exports to neighboring countries.

The globalized modern society has facilitated the borderless travel which always starts and ends at the airport. The airport now serves the gateway in spreading and delivering the culture, beyond the role of simply providing assistance to the transport means. Nowaday, the nations throughout the world expand the existing facilities or build the new airport competitively as the medium to link the travel and modern community as well as the symbolism of economic and technical improvement and it has been developed as a huge industry creating a high added value, beyond the simple transport services. Incheon International Airport has already been recognized as the world-class airport but still has a long way to go. It's necessary to develop the comprehensive cultural and art concept for sustainable value creation, instead of remaining as the airport with sophisticated facilities alone.
