  • The purpose of this study was to examine strategies which clothing manufacturers had employed to make themselves more competitive in the era of fast fashion. The Zimbabwean fashion industry is facing fierce competition from imported fast-fashion products which are lower priced and offer consumers a variety of designs from which to choose. The study made use of a qualitative approach with multiple case study design. In-depth interviews were used to gather data from participants, who were selected using the purposive sampling. The study found that clothing manufacturers had resorted to sub-contracting garment manufacturing work, promoting the buy-Zimbabwe campaign and developing in-house brands. This study offers insights into how the fast-fashion era has impacted the local fashion industry and unveils the practical solutions that local clothing manufacturers have embraced in a bid to remain operational and become globally competitive.

  • The global aircraft-manufacturing industry ecosystem is characterized by the international division of labor through the worldwide supply chain and by the concentration of value added at the top of the supply chain. As a result, the competition for entry into the top supply chain and for order expansion is becoming increasingly intensive. To increase their orders, domestic aircraft manufacturing enterprises need to enhance their competitiveness by evaluating and analyzing it. However, most domestic aircraft manufacturing companies are unaware of the need to quantitatively evaluate their competitiveness. It is challenging to perform such an evaluation, and there are few research cases. In this study, we quantitatively evaluated and analyzed the competitiveness of domestic aircraft manufacturers by using data mining techniques. Thereby, implications for enhancing their competitiveness could be identified.

  • Recently, Intense competition is expected to bring about continuous change with the rapid global aviation industry. In particular, domestic passenger demand has been steadily increasing over the past five years, with domestic and international shipments growing at a CAGR of 8.4% and 10.0%, respectively. In addition to the economic value of the airport, social interest due to greenhouse gas emissions is also rising. In this study, we analyzed the efficiency of airport operation by using DEA model(Directional Technology Distance Function) considering undesirable output for 14 airports in Korea. As a result of analysis, all airports except Gimhae, Yangyang, Cheongju and Yeosu were analyzed as efficient airports. However, only Gimpo, Gimhae, Jeju, Muan, Daegu and Gwangju were analyzed as efficient airports considering the undesirable output.

  • In recent years, Korea's aviation industry has been developing rapidly due to the emergence of low-cost airlines. In order to survive in such competition, airlines are making various efforts to save the operation cost as much as possible. Fuel costs account for more than 25% of operating costs. For airlines, reducing aircraft fuel costs is an important part of improving profitability. In this study, analyzing the difference weight between flightplan and W&B Manifest for calculated the fuel that was unnecessarily loaded. As a method to calculate the unnecessary fuel was used by Airbus company flight planning program.

  • The purposes of this study are to propose exhibition planning and management skills of trade fair organizers and to provide suggestions on the direction of government policies related to fair items. This study analyzes exhibitor objectives of exhibition participation and exhibition choice attributes using revised importance-performance analysis. This research uses visitor level, organizer services and market attraction of hosting country, as explanatory variables affecting companies' trade show choices. It also utilizes sales and non-sales purposes of participants as variables of exhibitors' objectives. As a result of the empirical analysis and examination of prior research, this study presents some recommendations for exhibition organizers and governments of hosting countries. First, the exhibition organizer should consider the importance of the number of visitors. Thus, the organizer should focus on prior marketing activities to attract visitors. Second, the organizer should make a trade fair plan in compliance with participants' needs. Third, policy authorities should provide environment of free competition among players.

  • Canberra, the capital city of Australia, has been known as an example of the international Garden City movement, which started by an Englishman Ebenezer Howard in the late 19th Century. As a new capital site, Canberra was designed by an American architect Walter Burley Griffin, the winner of the world-wide competition for a federal capital in 1912. However, a closer look at the early history of Canberra would reveal that the popular understanding of her as a Garden City was somewhat exaggerated and distorted. Griffin's ideas of the new capital strongly suggest that he was influenced by City Beautiful, an American urban planning trend. Also, Griffin's original plan for Canberra was never fully appreciated nor realized, as many objections and difficulties arisen. Furthermore, Australian understanding of 'Garden City' evolved to more inclusive and overlapping idea of greener and less condensed towns in general.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of broadcasters' broadcasting commentators' attributes on broadcasting conditions and the intention of continuous viewing of e-sports competitions. To achieve this goal, a survey was conducted on 300 university students who had experience watching e-sports competition broadcasting. The final 295 copies were selected as the final valid samples and data processing was carried out. Using SPSS 23, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and simple and multiple regression analysis were performed. The result of this study was: First, reliability and attractiveness among the sub-factors of commentator attributes were shown to have a positive effect on broadcasting conditions. Second, reliability and attractiveness among the sub-factors of commentator attributes have a positive effect on the intent of continuous viewing. Third, broadcasting conditions have a positive effect on the intention of continuous viewing.

  • As competition is introduced in the electricity supply industry, congestion becomes a more important issue. Congestion in a transmission network occurs due to an operating condition that causes limit violations on the transmission capacities. Congestion leads to inefficient use of the system, or causes additional costs (Congestion cost). One way to reduce this inefficiency or congestion cost is to control the transmission flow through the installation of UPFC (Unified Power Flow Controller). This paper also deals with an optimal siting of the UPFC for reducing congestion cost by using shadow prices. A performance index for an optimal siting is defined as a combination of line flow sensitivities and shadow prices. The proposed algorithm is applied to the sample system with a condition, which is concerning the quadratic cost functions. Test results show that the siting of the UPFC is optimal to minimize the congestion cost by the proposed algorithm.

  • The acceptance of unsolicited proposals (a private-initiated process) has been viewed by several governments as a means of encouraging innovative initiatives. However, the ramifications of this mechanism are still poorly understood. This paper analyzes a framework used by the Taiwanese government to evaluate unsolicited proposals. Taiwan's experience demonstrates the need for an improved framework in which key issues such as building consensus, maintaining a transparent procurement process, ensuring sufficient competition, and protecting intellectual property rights shall be addressed. In addition, the case study suggests that the roles of participants, the relationships and interfaces of activities, information flows, and decision making points should all be well defined. Some fundamental differences between solicited and unsolicited proposals are also discussed.
