  • During the last decade, engine makers have developed new types or increasing power rate engines to enlarge theirs marketing shear in two stroke, low-speed diesel engines. As the results, these engines have increased the additional stresses due to torsional vibration more than old model engines. The torsional vibration dampers are necessary in order to reduce heigher additional stresses of intermediate and crank shaft in these engine. In this paper, the optimum designing of Geislinger type torsional Damper has been carried out, based on the theoretical conception. The dynamic characteristics and performance fo dampers are estimated by the measuring results obtained with the monitoring system of dampers and additional stresses of propulsion shafts.

  • This thesis presents the design method using CAE(Computer Aided Engineering) with the consideration of reliability for optimal gear driving system. The validity and feasibility of the proposed method are verified by the application to transmission of machine tool. The reliability and life analysis is based on the two-parameter Weibull distribution lives of the gears and bearings. Ninety-percent of reliability life is the life of the component or system in million output rotations or hours at which ninety percent of identical components or system would survive under the given loading conditions.

Microwave Ablation Treatment of Liver Cancer with a 2,450-MHz Cooled-shaft Antenna: Pilot Study on Safety and Efficacy

  • To evaluate efficacy of microwave ablation in a primary clinical study, sixty patients (44 men, 16 women; mean age 53 years) with 96, 1-8 cm (mean $3.20{\pm}0.17$ cm) liver cancers were treated with 2,450-MHz internally cooled-shaft antenna. Complete ablation (CA) and local tumor progression (LTP) rates as well as complications were determined. CA rates in small (< 3.0 cm), intermediate (3.1-5.0 cm) and large (5.1-8.0 cm) liver cancers were 96.4% (54/56), 92.3% (24/26) and 78.6% (11/14), respectively. During a mean follow-up period of $17.17{\pm}6.52$ months, LTP occurred in five (5.21%) treated cases. There was no significant difference in the CA and LTP rates between the HCC and liver metastasis patient subgroups (P<0.05). Microwave ablation provides a reliable, efficient, and safe technique to perform hepatic tumor ablation.

  • The transportation is almost dependent on a single fuel petroleum with transportation energy dilemma. Hybrid Electric Vehicle(HEV) technology holds more advantages on efficiency improvements for petroleum consumption at the transportation. And bearing is recognized as the important component of gearbox. Gearboxes for HEV transmission have been ensured the highest reliability over some years in withstanding high dynamic loads. At the same time, the demands of lightweight design and cost minimization are required by thought-out design, high-quality material, superior production quality and maintenance. In order to design a reliable and lightweight gearbox, it is necessary to analyze bearing rating life methods between standard and different bearing companies with calculation methods for modification factors. In this paper, the influence of life time of bearings will be pointed out. Bearing contact stress and load stress distribution of HEV gearbox are obtained and compared with Romaxdesigner and BearinX. And the unequal wear of the left bearing for the gearbox intermediate shaft is investigated between simulation and test.

  • 본 논문에서는 선박 추진축계의 중간 축과 프로펠러 축 직경 변경시에 추진축계 고유진동특성을 효율적으로 산정하고, 선박 주기관 연속운항 금지구간 설정에 영향을 미치는 비틂공진점의 최적 설계를 도모할 수 있는 추진축계 종 비틂 연성 고유진동 감도해석방법을 제시하였다. 제시된 방법의 타당성과 효율성은 2척의 실선 추진축계을 대상으로 중간 축 프로펠러 축 직경에 대한 고유진동수 감도해석을 수행하여 검토하였다. 아울러, 선급 규정을 충족시키는 범위 안에서 중간축 및 프로펠러 축의 인장강도와 축경을 변화할 경우의 종 비틂 연성 고유진동수 변화량을 고찰하였다.

  • 현재 국내 설계기준에는 풍화암이나 N치 50이상의 양질의 토사지반에서의 현장타설말뚝 지지력 산정방법이 별도로 제시되어 있지 않으며, 말뚝의 지지력에 영향을 미치는 많은 요소를 반영할 수 있는 방법 또한 제시되어 있지 않다. 따라서 현장타설말뚝의 지지력을 산정하기 위해 지반을 토사와 암으로만 구분하고 있으며, 이로 인해 IGM으로 분류될 수 있는 풍화암을 대부분의 경우 양질의 토사지반으로 간주하여 지지력을 추정하고 있다. O'Neill 등(1996)의 연구보고서와 FHWA(1999) 설계기준에는 토사와 암반의 중간특성을 지닌 지반, 즉 IGM에서의 현장타설말뚝 지지력 산정방법을 제시하고 있으며, FHWA(1999) 설계기준에서는 IGM을 포함하여 지반을 명확하게 분류함으로써 이를 설계에 반영할 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구에서는 IGM에서의 지지력 이론을 적용한 국내 3개 현장의 현장타설말뚝 설계사례 분석하여 그 이론의 적용성을 평가하였다. IGM에서의 현장타설말뚝의 지지력과 비교하기 위해 IGM을 양질의 사질토 지반으로 간주하고 지지력을 산정하였으며, 이를 비교 분석하였다. 지지력 비교 결과, 풍화암을 IGM으로 분류하고 IGM에서의 지지력 이론을 적용한 경우 전반적으로 지지력이 크게 나타났다.

Antiglide 금속판을 이용한 족관절의 외과 골절의 치료 (The Anti-glide Plate in the Treatment of Lateral malleloar fracture)

  • Most of Danis-Weber type B fracture has an oblique fracture plane proximal posteriorly to distal anteriorly. In these cases, the lateral plate has become widely accepted. However some limitation to the use of the lateral plate exist. The plate must be bent accurately and the screws in the distal fragment must be unicortical to avoid penetration into the joint, predisposing it to poor fixation in the osteoporotic bone. In 1982, Brunner and Weber introduced the antiglide plate for fixation of the shaft oblique fracture of the distal fibula, but it has not widely used. The author reviewed 21 cases treated by antiglide plate fixation from March, 1995 to March, 1999 which could be follow-up more than 1 year. We analysed the result radiographically and clinically using Ankle-Hindfoot scale(100 % total) of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society. The results obrained were as follows: 1. All fracture were united at average 8 weeks clinically and radiographically. 2. According to the Ankle- Hindfoot scale, 8 cases were above 90 points, 11 cases were beet ween 80 and 89 points and two cases were below 80 points. 3. One case had an injury to intermediate dorsal cutaneous nerve.
