In this study, the relationships between the interior space of the upper class residence of Korean late Chosun dynasty and human dimensions based on their life styles of that era are analized. As an object of the study, the interior space of Yunkyungdant in Changduk palace is selected. The major analytical frame works of this study are : the analysis of Space-Human Body System, the analysis of Space-Objects-Human Body System, and the analy-sis of Space-Objects-Human Body System, and the analy-sis of Space-Objects-Life Activities of Human Body System. As a result, it was verified that there are certain quantitative relationships between the interior space of the residence and the human dimensions of Koreans lived up to their life styles and activities of Chosun dynasty era, specialized as 'Confucian life style'.

This study examines the visual effects of surface design utilized in commercial space. In particular, 1 focus on the following three categories: transparency and lighting, electronic surface and media screen, and ubiquitous environments and interface. Unlike the past era in which surface design in commercial space was viewed merely as a means of decoration, it has become more important in the contemporary era because diverse expression techniques in surface design enormously help architects and interior designers embody their own ideas more effectively Moreover, the diversity of surface design expands the concept of cultural space as it provides various graphic elements that reflect human desire for multicultures.

Nowadays, our societies use digital technology in new architectural shape and space design to transcend three dimension limit so the boundary of the imagination world and actuality world has been collapsed. Traditional spatial value has been collapsed. Also indetermination and temporary assumption in time, fluidness and dematerialized, simultaneity and reiteration in image are relative with this circumstances. In architectural shape, media characteristics which secede from traditional characteristics of place tectonic value have occurred. Therefore, indifference and interests in shape, inter-permeation in interior and exterior space, homogeneous equivalence spatial extension have occurred. The purpose in this study examines dematerialized in contemporary space design and light materials and also investigates general and architectural background. The results of this study are as follows. First, circumstances of human have changed from physically limited boundary to unfixed, nonphysical, lightness and vague things. Second, casting off volume in shape and also dissembling exclusive and constructive Third, interior and exterior space by transparency intimates media possibility of information screen. Fourth, seek information and organic response, ambivalent transformation, accumulation of image and new mutual understanding system.

Grid serves as an auxiliary instrument that explains design logically and objectively when you designing an interior. But grid is unacceptable to the space which is produced by designer who wants to express a design subjectively. Because grid makes usual and standardized space without flexibility. Changing and developing a fundamental unit with modern touch is going to be a way compensate for the weakpoint Also versatile grid unit can support the designer's subjective intention. This study focuses on the limits of Wright's house which show interior space aestheically through grid planing. In this paper Wright's uniqe interior space pattern will be examined through the selection of some of his works specifically the Prairies and Usonians whose transforming is noticable as Wright house and analysis about formation process of grid planning characteristics and spaces is continued. With all this analysis I'm, going to look over Wright's philosophy and pattern that is usually intended by his grid planning.

Light plays an important role in making a continuity of space and in determining the distinctive expression and char-acter of a space. Particularly, the introduction of natural light derives from our esthetic needs, as well as from the fundamental biologi-cal necessities of human beings. And also, adaptation to time and space is the vital factor of human survival and prosperity. Our visual recognition of light is usually formed not only by practical illumination but by analogy, expection and expe-rienced of lighting itself. As the forecase of natural light is (almost) impossible be-cause of variables such as changing weather, reflection rate of light and the patterns of shade, in designing the introduc-tion of daylight, there should be follow-ed careful considera-tion of the adaptation to such variety and the impet-us of light. The research was conducted to mane a contribution to cre-ate more rich and beautiful interior spaces by studying the characteristic of light which is one of the important factors of interior space design, and by inquiring the way to intro-duce light and its effect through the practical examples of Alvar Aalto, Le Corbusier and Louis I. Kahn.

In this paper, a strategy for utilizing the Korean tradi-tional spaces and interior design elements in inner space in order to express Korean-style interior design has been studied. Characteristics of Korean tradition was gathered from literatures in two categories; space and el-ements. Space again has been studied in detail in the area of split, continuity, hierarchy, elasticity, dynamics. And study of elements includes floor, wall, ceiling, dan-chung, lattice, laytiles on a roof, rafter, extended eaves, the line of eaves. 30 Korean restaurants were selected, analysed and compared with literature review. Based on the compari-son, a strategy for proper expression and utilization of Korean tradition is suggested. In the process of compari-son, current status of implementation and problems were found. Traditional elements are used in about 50% of Korean restaurants located in hotels, and 25% of those located in department stores. With the survey and other professional's opinions, an implementation plan is suggest-ed as follows; 1. Succession design method of tradition should use main-ly amelioration method and use copy and partly abstraction method. 2. Expression of tradition has to include all of space, ele-ments, and decoration. In space structure, Korean tra-dition space structure must be applied. 3. In order to design with feeling of Korean tradition, various different Korean elements have to be used. 4. In order to express high quality design, high-quality elements has to be used.

The problem of defining the relationship between interior space and exterior envelope of a building has long been a challenging task in the field of architecture throughout its history. This research chronologically reviews some of the important turning points in various schools of thoughts concerning construction of exterior envelope, with focus on how they influenced and altered the formation of our interior environment. This research also stipulates on how technological advance in the late 20th century laid grounds for a new type of interior-exterior relations in architecture through creation of flexible and ambiguous boundary conditions. The focus of this qualitative research will be on contemporary works of Japanese architects Toyo Ito, SANAA, and related group of architects who address the issues of transparency, flexible interior layout, buffer zones, structural facade, and neutralized (homogeneous) space that produces spatial quality of non-linear, non-hierarchical, and de-materialized space as a direct alternative to modern principles of space making.

There are a lot of differences in the Eastern and Western space culture. Especially, Comparing to Japanese, Koreans are not good at utilizing the small space and react effectively. Therefore, the interior space of public transportation needs to be relatively developed to highly reasonable level in Korea. The purpose of this paper is to propose the concept of Korean tradition in urban transit interior layout, which means vernacular design. The interior layout should be made in terms of the emotional aspect not functional one. In order to study the notion of national character, this study refers the concept of interior layout of the public transportation to the layout of traditional architecture and modern office. The research of vernacular design can provide national character and traditional design and can make a success in a practical use and a visual effect. This study based on the national differences of space will be proposed the outline of interior layout and the shape of interior trims in the public transportation in Korea.

Architecture is changing rapidly with contact of various cultures and development of modern technology and it is also becoming Polycentric. We can look at the tendency of deconstruction that denies logical rationality of modernism and minimalism that is known as a vertex of modernism. This kind of flow appears to be one of tendencies of interior design. Therefore, to satisfy the residents with the interior design, our study proposes a better space improving monotonousness of the existing apartment through case study. Through the case study, if we analyze the tendency applied to the characteristics of minimalism, we can divide into shape and space. Minimalism space says that the resident can build his/her own space according to the characteristics of the object. Also, it has an advantage of the resident being able to bring in furniture or decoration to change the characteristics of the space. With more accurate understanding and borrowing, we should do multilateral study to research the mixed loading and uncertain minimalism through the case study of apartment space.

Space is the essence and the most important concept of architecture, and therefore it has been granted critical meanings depending on the times. In space, exterior is regarded as an extension of interior, and architectural spaces vary according to how interior and exterior are combined meaningfully as well as how interior spaces are formed. In this study, the meaning of interior and exterior spaces in terms of perceiver's position and the characteristics of boundary factors is examined. And the perceptive factors and developing methods of interior and exterior spaces are then analyzed through positional relations of objects in space, and architectural boundary that defines spaces. The purpose of this study is to infer the relation of interior and exterior space composition in neo-modernism architecture, one of the current architectural trends.
