  • There are two kinds of the synchronous motor, one is an induction type motor started without a driving system, the other is the one started with an external driving system. but, both are complicated. Nowadays, in order to devoid for the synchronous motor being complicated in design, line start permanent magnet(LSPM) motors are being developed. The LSPM motor is composed of the rotor that has interior permanent magnet and aluminum bar instead of general rotor. In this paper, we analyzed the characteristics of the LSPM motor which has both characteristics of an induction motor and a synchronous motor, and we compared the the LSPM motor characteristics with the induction motor.

  • Since Interior Permanent Magnet syncronous Motor has a structure whose magnet is inserted in the rotor, d, q inductance is differ and the motor products hybrid torque combined allignment term and reluctance term. Air gap flux density and d, q axis inductances of the Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor obtained by analytical method are compensated using Finite Element Method. For optimal design, the efficiency of the motor is taken as the objective function, and Genetic Algorithm finds the value of design parameters which maximize the objective function.

  • This study explores the use of a bulk type high-temperature superconductors (HTS) as trapped field magnets in synchronous motors. A HTS bulk is examined for its ability to generate powerful magnetic fields over a permanent magnet and to eliminate the need for a direct power supply connection compared to a tape form of HTS. A 150 kW interior-mounted bulk-type superconducting synchronous motor is designed and analyzed. The A-H formulation is used to numerical analysis. The results show superior electrical performance and weight reduction when comparing the designed model with the conventional permanent magnet synchronous motor of the same topology. This study presents HTS bulk synchronous motor's overall design process and highlights its potential in achieving relatively high power density than conventional permanent magnet synchronous motor.

Simple Sensorless Control of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Using PLL Based on Extended EMF

  • This paper proposes an improved sensorless control to estimate the rotor position of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor. A phase-locked loop (PLL) is used to obtain the phase angle of the grid. The rotor position can be estimated using a PLL based on extended electromotive force (EEMF) because the EEMF contains information about the rotor position. The proposed method can reduce the burden of calculation. Therefore, the control period is decreased. The simulation and experimental results confirm the effectiveness and performance of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, the inductance characteristics of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) considering cross-coupling effect is analyzed. It is known that the IPMSM has it's operating point at the saturated region. So the cross-coupling effect exists, therefore cross-coupling inductance exists. With the application of Fixed Permeability Method (FPM), we can obtain more exact inductance characteristics of IPMSM. In this paper, a novel method based on the FPM is proposed, which can consider the cross-coupling effect. And the cross-coupling inductance which is the analysis result is shown. Finally, the validity of proposed method is verified by the comparison with the experimental result.

  • For the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) drive to operate above the base speed in the constant horsepower region, field weakening control is applied. However, the field weakening control was not almost applied to sensorless control of the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor. In this parer, field weakening control is applied to the sensorless control of IPMSM based on an instantaneos reactive power. The effectiveness of the Proposed system is verified by the experimental results.

Field Circuit Coupling Optimization Design of the Main Electromagnetic Parameters of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

  • The electromagnetic parameters of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) such as the open load permanent magnet flux, d axis reactance $X_d$, and q axis reactance $X_q$, are most essential to the performance analysis and optimization design of the motor. Based on the numerical analysis of the 3D electromagnetic field, the three electromagnetic parameters of permanent magnet synchronous motors with U form interior rotor structures are calculated by FEA. The rules of the leakage coefficient and reactance parameters changing with the air gap length, permanent magnet magnetism length, and isolation magnetic bridge dimensions in the rotor are given. The calculated values agree well with the measured values. The FEA results are integrated with the self compiled electromagnetic design program to optimize the prototype motor. The tested performances of the prototype motor prove that the method is suitable for the optimization of motor structure.

  • To predict efficiency of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors(IPMSM) and to cope with the demagnetization risk of permanent magnets used in the IPMSM, accurate iron analysis of the IPMSM is very important at the motor design stage. In this paper, we present the method to estimate the iron loss for the IPMSM considering the condition of field weakening control and harmonics of flux density waveform.

  • This paper presents the method to calculate the motor parameters considering skew in EPS Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM). The skew is applied to stator or rotor by general technology used for design of reducing noise and vibration in motor. The characteristics analysis of motor including the skew is mostly used by 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEA), though, this analysis is a very time-consuming to perform. Besides, The reliability lacks due to the considerable change of motor characteristics according to the number of elements in 3D FEA. However, analysis time and effort can be saved by characteristic analysis considering skew using 2D FEA. Therefore, in this paper, a quick and accurate method for the calculations of motor parameters considering skew is suggested. The proposed method is verified by the comparison of calculated and experimental results.

  • This Paper presents characteristic analysis in terms of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor for electric vehicle propulsion using numerical analysis. Torque ripple analysis, thermal analysis, demagnetization analysis of permanent magnet and mechanical stress analysis with variable operating condition are presented. According to these characteristic analysis, both the performance of motor and possible problems during the operation are examined thoroughly in advance.
