  • The hydraulic or pneumatic valve spools become essential as the important components on the production of automatic hydraulic or pneumatic as mechanical industry has been rapidly developed. The machining precision is in necessity for manufacturing the valve spools. They could be unstable in the quality by the conventional are welding. And also they have a lot of technical problems in manufacturing because their shapes are generally small. By the precision casting process such as lost wax process, the production cost may be increased. But by the friction welding technique, they will be able to be manufactured without such problems. This paper deals with the development of dissimilar friction welding optimization for the hydraulic or pneumatic valve spool by friction welding and a new approach of on real-time qualify evaluation by AE techniques.

  • Several dielectric pipes buried in the lossy half space are reconstructed from the scattered fields measured along the interface between the air and the lossy ground. Iterative inversion method by using the hybrid optimization algorithm combining the genetic and the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm enables us to find the positions, the sizes, and the medium parameters such as the permittivities and the conductivities of the buried pipes as well as those of the background lossy half space even when the dielectric pipes are close together. Illposedness of the inversion caused by the errors in the measured scattered fields are regularized by filtering the evanescent modes of the scattered fields out.

  • In the mechanical system, optimization of motion control is very essential in the aspect of automation technique progress. In the servo system, the function of controller is very important but most of the controllers have played only the role of pulse generator because the controller with main function is very expensive. In this thesis, the system was composed of PC, commonly used driver AC servo motor and a produced control board. The PC transmit a gain, a locus data to a driver and controller. At the same time, it converts imformation from the controller and convert them into data and offer an output with graph. The role of a controller is to trasmit a locus data to a driver and counting the pulse on the phase of an encoder to the PC. We have performed the experiment in order to confirm with variable PID parameter capable of the optimization of gain tuning with the counting of feedback control sensor signal with regard to the external interface into the system, such as torque. Based on the experiment result, we have confirmed as follows: First, it was confirmed that we could easily input control factors P.I Gain, constant $K_P,\;K_I$ into PC. Second, not only pulse generator function was possible, but with this pulse it was also possible to count using software with PIC chip. And third, using the multi-purpose PIC micro chip, simple operation and the formation of small size AC Servo Controller was possible.

  • In this paper, the design sensitivity evaluation based on the 2-dimensional finite clement discretization is presented for the voltage source and eddy current problem. And it is applied to the two shape design problems of the rotor slot of 3-phase squirrel cage induction motors. The first is to increase the starting torque while keeping the rated torque fixed. The other is only to increase the torque at the rated speed while keeping the starting torque fixed. As an optimization method, the Gradient Projection method is used to control casily the torques for various speeds of rotor. One fourth of rotor is analyzed by using a semi-periodic boundary condition. Because the shape of rotor slot has much influence on the slip torque characteristic, the 10 design parameters are taken on the interface between rotor core and rotor bar. The initial shape of rotor slot is the trapezoidal typo with rounding corners.

  • An opportunity to use the elevated temperature has been recently increasing in various elements of heat facilities or machines such as heat exchanger tubes, pressure vessels, engines of aircraft, boilers and turbines in power plants, and nuclear reactor components, etc. as machinery industry develops. Thus, the development of such elevated-temperature heat-resisting materials and the studies on their elevated-temperature materials friction welding, creep design and analysis have been considered as an important and needful fact. In this paper, friction welding optimization for 1Cr0.5Mo to STS304 and AE applications for the weld quality evaluation were investigated. The important results of this study are as follows : The techniques for dissimilar friction welding optimization of the elevated temperature materials 1Cr0.5Mo and STS304 and its real-time weld quality evaluation by AE were developed, considering on both strength and toughness. Quantitative relationship was identified among welding condition, weld quality and cumulative AE counts.

  • This paper deals with the simulation-based design optimization and experimental validation of the characteristics of an in-core silver Self-Powered Neutron Detector (SPND). Optimized dimensions of the SPND are determined by combining Monte Carlo simulations and analytical methods. As a first step, the Monte Carlo transport code MCNPX is used to follow the trajectory and fate of the neutrons emitted from an external source. This simulation is able to seamlessly integrate various phenomena, including neutron slowing-down and shielding effects. Then, the expected number of beta particles and their energy spectrum following a neutron capture reaction in the silver emitter are fetched from the TENDEL database using the JANIS software interface and integrated with the data from the first step to yield the origin and spectrum of the source electrons. Eventually, the MCNPX transport code is used for the Monte Carlo calculation of the ballistic current of beta particles in the various regions of the SPND. Then, the output current and the maximum insulator thickness to avoid breakdown are determined. The optimum design of the SPND is then manufactured and experimental tests are conducted. The calculated design parameters of this detector have been found in good agreement with the obtained experimental results.

  • Programmers who write distributed programs are faced with a dilemma when writing the systems communication code. If the code is written by hand or partly by hand, then the speed of the application may be maximized, but the human effort required to implement and maintain the system is greatly increased. On the other hand, if the code is generated using a CORBA IDL compiler then the programmer effort will be reduced, but the performance of the application may be poor. So we need the optimizing the code generated by CORBA IDL compiler. We introduce the techniques which have been used by typical programming languages into compilation of IDL. We separate the phase of compilation into three phase. The first phase parses interface definition in IDL, manages nested scope and generates AST(Abstract Syntax Tree). The second phase implements the optimization. The third phase generates the code in target language. In this paper, we focus on the first phase. We separate interface definition into interface and message representation from AST. This supports the separate optimization of code in second phase.

  • We present a secondary camera optimization method that helps the user exploring 3D virtual environment to precisely observe possible collisions between objects. The first role of our secondary camera is to automatically detect the area with the greatest possible collision. The second role is to show the detected area from a new angle of view that the current main camera cannot show. However, as the shapes of target objects are complex, the shape of the empty space between objects is also complex and narrow. It means that the space for the secondary camera position is highly constrained and its optimization can be very difficult. To avoid this difficulty and increase the efficiency of the optimization, we first compute a bisector surface between two target objects. Then, we limit the domain of the secondary camera's position on the bisector surface in the optimization process. To verify the utility of our method, we built a demonstration program in which the user can explore in a 3D virtual world and interact with objects by using a hand motion recognition device and conducted a user study.
