  • This article presents program development and analysis of a creative robot school for elementary school at the local university. The purpose of opening the creative robot school is to give motivation to children for having interests in science and engineering at their young ages. The creative robot school program is developed by using facilities of a local university to spread scientific knowledge to young children in their communities to draw their interests in science as well as an engineering field for future careers. Since the robot system is a popular subject to draw attention of children and has a relation with Mechatronics Engineering, a program related with robots is selected for educating children. College students are also involved in helping children to build robots within a given time. Experiences and self-evaluations from the previously held creative robot schools at Chungnam National University(CNU) are presented to share with.

  • The study tries to clarify middle and high school students' reading interests in recreational, informative, inspirational, and aesthetic reading areas 1,260 students' reading cards from 7 schools are divided into economically high, middle, and low groups, each of which is subdivided into reading objectives. The writer finds no close relationship between the students' economic status and their reading preferences. However, the study indicates that recreational books are read in the order of higher, middle, and lower economic groups and informative and inspirational books in the reversed order. The writer also finds different preferences between individuals more evident than those between groups, and recommends individualized reading guidance for students.

  • According to the appearance of various virtual websites using multimedia technologies for engineering education, the internet applications in engineering education have drawn much interests. But unidirectional communication, simple text/image based webpages and tedious learning process without motivation etc. have made the lowering of educational efficiency in cyberspace. Thus, to cope with these difficulties this paper presents a web-based educational Flash movies based on ActionScript language for understanding the principles of the computer system architecture. The proposed Flash movies provides the improved learning methods which can enhance the interests of learners. The results of this paper can be widely used to improve the efficiency of cyberlectures in the cyber university. Several sample Flash movies are illustrated to show the validity of the proposed learning method.

  • Recently, there has been much interests in InGaN/GaN multiple-quantum-well (MQW) structures due to their applicability as optoelectronic devices such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and laser diodes [1]. Their ultrafast and physical properties are also of significant interests. Anomalously large acoustic phonon oscillations have been observed using ultrafast lasers in InGaN MQWs [2]. In this study, we have peformed femtosecond pump-probe experiments in the reflection geometry on 5 periods InGaN/GaN MQW LED structure with well width of 20$\AA$ and barrier width of 100$\AA$ at room temperature. • English has been taught as a compulsory subject at elementary schools since 1997 starting with third graders, to sixth graders. We have seen active research on teaching methods for elementary English, but little has been done from the learners' perspective. It is very proper time for English educators to review what the elementary students think about their English classes. The purpose of the present study is as following. First, we tried to find out how the students' attitude toward and interest in English have changed over the four-year English education. Second we attempted to suggest the ways to promote the students' interests, and to increase understanding and participation in English classes. We also suggest that curriculum developers need to consider the students' lower interests and understanding in English classes as they move to higher grades, and that classroom teachers need to have a better understanding of what their students do and feel in the English classes.

  • Since a social network by definition is so diverse, the problem of estimating the preferences of its users is becoming increasingly essential for personalized applications, which range from service recommender systems to the targeted advertising of services. However, unlike traditional estimation problems where the underlying target distribution is stationary; estimating a user's interests typically involves non-stationary distributions. The consequent time varying nature of the distribution to be tracked imposes stringent constraints on the "unlearning" capabilities of the estimator used. Therefore, resorting to strong estimators that converge with a probability of 1 is inefficient since they rely on the assumption that the distribution of the user's preferences is stationary. In this vein, we propose to use a family of stochastic-learning based Weak estimators for learning and tracking a user's time varying interests. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed paradigm outperforms some of the traditional legacy approaches that represent the state-of-the-art technology.

  • Innovation has become a key distinct feature of modern industrial society. It is generally recognized that new knowledge and technology are one of the most important sources of innovation. However, because of their limited resources, firms can not pursue all the promising new knowledge and technology that have possibilities to be developed into critical innovation. In this article, using the stakeholder theory, we try to establish a new conceptual model that can be used for understanding knowledge creation and innovation in society. In a society, there exist diverse socio-economic groups that have conflicting values and interests. Our stakeholder theory perspective on innovation claims that innovation can occur only when new solutions can satisfy their idiosyncratic stakeholder' values and interests better than current existing solutions. From the viewpoint of stakeholder innovation theory, there could be three different types of innovation: value improvement innovation, non-traditional value Innovation, and innovation for non-traditional stakeholder.

  • This study proposes interpretation on techniques as planning methods for environmentally friendly housing estates in a view of Kim young-ok′s Ki philosophy which is based on the east asian studies. through consideration on the environmentally friendly concept with case-studies. When residents make places for a community and participate in controlling housing estate, it is necessary to get harmonized and united among them. This is needed to better understand it in confucianism which regards practicing of humanity as the best of virtue of fellowing the way of heaven. Interests of the western in enviromental1y friendly housing estates are still limited to purpose of comfortableness, convenience, and capability. But, on the Ki philosophy, a ultimate purpose of environmentally friendly housing estates is not for the matters of western interests, but "health".
