As the risk of earthquakes increases recently, earthquake-resistant designs were getting interest. For this reason, this study applies that Friction pendulum-type seismic isolator is a device that attenuates seismic energy by friction and pendulum motion. The friction pendulum-type seismic isolator of this study is very easy to transport, install and maintain with light weight of metal by applying the slider using high strength engineering plastic. In addition, there is an advantage that the corrosion resistance is very excellent compared to the existing metal parts. However, there is concern about long-term durability by replacing metal materials. In this study, the frictional pendulum-type seismic isolator with EP was applied to compressive-shear test, repeated fatigue test, and ultimate load test after fatigue test, and analyzed the deformation and shear or properties after the test. As the results, the adequacy of long term fatigue durability was experimentally proven.
Damage detection in civil engineering structures using the change in dynamic system parameters has gained a lot of scientific interest during the last decade. By repeating a dynamic test on a structure after a certain time of use, the change in modal parameters can be used to quantify and qualify damages. To be able to use the modal parameters confidentially for damage evaluation, the effect of other parameters such as excitation type, ambient conditions,... should be considered. In this paper, the influence of excitation type on the dynamic system parameters of a highway prestressed concrete bridge is investigated. The bridge, B13, lies between the villages Vilvoorde and Melsbroek and crosses the highway E19 between Brussels and Antwerpen in Belgium. A drop weight and ambient vibration are used to excite the bridge and the response at selected points is recorded. A finite element model is constructed to support and verify the dynamic measurements. It is found that the difference between the natural frequencies measured using impact weight and ambient vibration is in general less than 1%.

The one of the principles described in ICH E9 is that only results obtained from pre-specified statistical methods in a protocol are regarded as confirmatory evidence. However, in multi-regional clinical trials, even when results obtained from pre-specified statistical methods in protocol are significant, it does not guarantee that the test treatment is approved by regional regulatory agencies. In other words, there is no so-called global approval, and each regional regulatory agency makes its own decision in the face of the same set of data from a multi-regional clinical trial. Under this situation, there are two natural methods a regional regulatory agency can use to estimate the treatment effect in a particular region. The first method is to use the overall treatment estimate, which is to extrapolate the overall result to the region of interest. The second method is to use regional treatment estimate. If the treatment effect is completely identical across all regions, it is obvious that the overall treatment estimator is more efficient than the regional treatment estimator. However, it is not possible to confirm statistically that the treatment effect is completely identical in all regions. Furthermore, some magnitude of regional differences within the range of clinical relevance may naturally exist for various reasons due to, for instance, intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Nevertheless, if the magnitude of regional differences is relatively small, a conventional method to estimate the treatment effect in the region of interest is to extrapolate the overall result to that region. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects produced by this type of extrapolation via estimations, followed by hypothesis testing of the treatment effect in the region of interest. This paper is written from the viewpoint of regional regulatory agencies.

In hydraulic control system turbine and gear motor type flowmeters are widely used to measure the flow rate under steady flow conditions. With the recent growth of interest in the measurement of instantaneous values of unsteady flow rate the test of the transient response of these flowmeters are in some significance. however an unsteady flow rate mea-surment and its calibration method with a fast response and a high accuracy have not beendeveloped. In this research particularly the dynamic characteristics of turbine and gear motor type flowmeters are investigated experimentally and simple mathematical models are proposed. The measured flow rate waveforms are compared with those by remote instan-taneous flow rate measurement method(RIFM) which has been developed by author and used for calibration As the result of frequency response test gain and phase between the measured flow rate waveforms by turbine type flowmeter and those estimated by RIFM are in good agreement up to 70Hz For the gear motor type flowmeter th simulated results by a math-ematical model proposed here agree well with the experiment nearly up to 100Hz. Also it if sound that the pressure drop across the flowmeter is increased in proportion to the frequency of the flow rate variation in a high frequency region of more than 100Hz. It can be explained that the dealy of gear motor type flowmeter in high frequency regionis mainly attributed to a first order delay consisting of the inertia of gears and internal leakage of the gear motor.
The study was to see if the perceptions of pre-service kindergarten teacher toward the education of children's fundamental habit would show different characteristics based on their school type, education learning experience, and practicum experience. Subjects were 200 students majoring in early childhood education who were attending 3-year colleges and 4-year universities in Jellabuk-do and Daejeon. Preceding researches were referenced to develop questionnaire for the research method. The collected data was analyzed through t-test and Chi-square test. The followings are results: First, the interest in education showed significant difference in school type, but not significant difference in education learning experience and practicum experience. Second, the recognition in educational goal showed significant difference in practicum experience, but not significant difference in school type and education learning experience. the educational content showed significant difference in education learning experience, but not in school type and practicum experience. the recognition in educational principal showed significant difference in school type, but not significant difference in education learning experience and practicum experience. the recognition in educational method showed no significant difference in school type, education learning experience and practicum experience. Third, the recognition in educational hardship toward teaching showed significant difference in school type, education learning experience and practicum experience. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of elementary science instruction applying a Brain-Based Evolutionary (ABC-DEF) approach using Rapid-cycling Brassica rapa (RcBr) on the interests of elementary school students. For this study, two elementary school classes in Seoul and one elementary school class in Gyeonggi-do were selected. Comparison group received instruction using textbook and teacher's guidebook. A class taught using only brain-based evolutionary approach is experimental group A, and a class taught through brain-based evolutionary approach using RcBr is experimental group B. In order to analyze the quantitative differences about the interests of students, three kinds of test were administered to the students: 'Applied Unit-Related Interests', 'Follow-up Interests' and 'Interests in the observation material'. To get more information, qualitative data such as portfolios and interviews were analyzed. The major findings are as follows. First, for the test of applied unit-related interests, a statistically significant difference was found between comparison group and experimental group A, and between comparison group and experimental group B. As the results of interviews, the students have shown that the intensified exploration activities on plant in Brain-Based Evolutionary approach applied to experimental groups A and B had a positive effect. Second, for test of follow-up interests, we classified the students' follow-up interests into three types: extended-developed-deepened (EDD) type, simply expanded-maintained (SEM) type, and stopped or decreased (SD) type. Both experimental group A and experimental group B showed the highest percentage of EDD. Also, observation journal applying the evolutionary process (DEF) showed a positive effect on the students' interest. Comparison group showed the highest percentage of SEM. Third, for test of applied interests in the observation material, a statistically significant difference was found between comparison group and experimental group A, and comparison group and experimental group B. Experimental group B using RcBr showed the highest average score, while experimental group A showed a higher score than comparison group. Based on these findings, educational implications of Brain-Based Evolutionary approach and using RcBr are discussed.
The purpose of this study was to investigate body cathexis and clothing involvement by demographic characteristics and to indentify the relationship between body cathexis and clothing involvment. Five aspects of body cathexis(lower body, head/upper body, height, weight, torso) were assessed with 17 Likert type questionnaires adapted from the previous researches, and 24 items of clothing involvement were measured. The questionnaire was administered to 430 women in Taegu, Korea. The data were analyzed using percentage, frequency, factor analysis, ANOVA, Sceffe test, t-test, and Pearson's Correlation Analysis. The results of the study were as follows; 1. The body cathexis showed head/upper body, height, torso, lower body, weight in order of satisfaction level. Especially lower body and weight part were shown as the most unsatisfactory body parts. Age of 20s' showed the lowest body cathexis, and those who had the higher educational background and family income were more satisfied with their bodies. 2. Five dimensions of clothing involvement were derived by factor analysis such as fashion, interest, pleasure, symbolism, and perceived buying risk. 3. There were significant relationships between clothing involvement dimensions and demographic characteristics such as age, educational background and family income level. Those who were younger showed positive relationship partially among fashion, interest and pleasure of clothing dimensions but showed negative relationship in total clothing involvement. Those who had higher educational background and family income showed positive clothing involvement than married women and empolyed showed higher clothing involvement with symbolism and perceived buying risk than unemployed women partially but not in total clothing involvement with symbolism and perceived buying risk than unemployed women partially but not in total clothing involvement. 4. There were significant relationships between body cathexis and interest, perceived buying risk of clothing involvement partially. However, the correlation between body cathexis and total clothing involvement was relatively low.
