  • In Korea power system, the transfer capability of transmission line is limited by the voltage stability and it is difficult to construct new iron tower due to incremental interest for environmental problem and construction costs. Recently, HTS cable could be one of the countermeasures to solve the transfer limit because of it is transported to large power with compact size However, the characteristic of HTS cable have a various problem. This paper presents the effects of congestion cost reduction by the application of HTS (High-Temperature Superconducting) cable. In this paper, the transmission ability before and after application of HTS cable are examined in a viewpoint for voltage stability. therefore, the effects of congestion cost reduction by HTS cable.

  • In this study, we propose the calibration algorithm for the solar channel (550 ${\sim}$ 900 nm) of MTSAT 1R which is the Japanese geostationary satellite launched on 26 Feb. 2005 and located at $140^{\circ}E$. We developed a method utilizing MODIS-derived BRDFs for the solar channel calibration over the bright desert area. Targets are selected based on the desert's brightness, spatial uniformity, temporal stability and spectral stability. The 6S model has been incorporated to account for directional effects of the surface using MODIS-derived BRDF parameters within the spectral interval in interest. Results based on the analysis for the period from November 2007 to June 2008 suggest that MTSAT-1R solar channel measurements have a low bias within 5%.

  • Spin Transfer Torque (STT) is of great interest in data writing scheme for the Magneto-resistive Random Access Memory (MRAM) using Magnetic Tunnel Junction (MTJ). Scalability for high density memory requires ferromagnetic electrodes having the perpendicular magnetic easy axis. We investigated CoZr as the ferromagnetic electrode. It is observed that interfacial magnetic anisotropy is preferred perpendicular to the plane with thickness dependence on the interfaces with Pt layer. The anisotropy energy (Ku) with thickness dependence shows a change of magnetic-easy-axis direction from perpendicular to in-plane around 1.2 nm of CoZr. The interfacial anisotropy (Ki) as the directly related parameters to switching and thermal stability, are estimated as $1.64erg/cm^2$ from CoZr/Pt multilayered system.

  • Scientific research regarding the use of live bacterial cells for therapeutic purposes has been rapidly growing over the years and has generated considerable interest to scientists and health professionals. Probiotics are defined as essential live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host. Owing to their considerable beneficial health effects, these microorganisms are increasingly incorporated into dairy products; however, many reports have demonstrated their poor survival and stability. Their survival in the gastrointestinal tract is also questionable. To overcome these problems, microencapsulation techniques are currently receiving considerable attention. This review describes the importance of live probiotic bacterial microencapsulation using an alginate microparticulate system and presents the potentiality of various coating polymers such as chitosan and polylysine for improving the stability of this microencapsulation.

  • 1.Power utilities and CRIEPI are very active in almost all aspects of power systems research. 2.About 50% of research activity of CRIEPI is made under the joint work with power utilities. 3.Research motivation of manufactures are mainly stimulated by the need of power utilities and manufacturers are closely collaborating with power utilities. 4.Main effort of universities is concentrated upon the theoretical aspects of network analysis and the means of stability improvement. Univer sities are doing research rather independently of industry unless inexceptional cases. 5.Universities are making a significant contribution to the exploration of new horizon of power systems engineering, namely, in the research on the social impact on the future of power system. 6.Current main interest of power systems reserch is centered around the stability problem and power system operation and control. Research activity in power system planning is rather low as compared to that in these two major fields. A similar statement holds for the analysis of electromagnetic transients and short circuit analysis. However a new research field is sprouting in the area of power system protection.

  • This paper concerns collocation methods for integro-differential equations in which memory kernels have a singularity at t = 0. There has been extensive research in recent years on Volterra integral and integro-differential equations for physical systems with memory effects in which the stabilty and asymtotic stability of solutionsl have been the main interest. We will study a class of hereditary equations with singular kernels which interpolate between well known model equations as the order of singularity varies. We are also concerned with the smoothing effect of singular kernels, but we use energy methods and our results involve fractional time in fixed spatial norms. Galerkin methods for our models was studied and existence, uniqueness and stability results was obtained in [4]. Our major goal is to study collocation methods.

  • This paper focuses on the policy framework about "Quantitative and Qualitative Easing (QQE)" of Japan, and analyzes reasons why the policy goal was not reached. The QQE was introduced by the Bank of Japan in 2013 with the purpose of meeting the price stability target of 2% and getting out of deflation that prevents sustained price decline. However, despite the implementation of the bold monetary easing policy unprecedented in the world, the policy goal was not achieved as of June 2018. As a result of analyzing the causes, the following three structural factors were confirmed. 1) The rise in prices by QQE was limited because Japan's consumer price is strongly depending on import price. 2) The effect is high degree of uncertainty and limited because theoretical framework of reflationist which adopted QQE depends on "expectation formation" by "self-fulfilling expectation" and "multiple equilibria". 3) It was confirmed that the expansion of the monetary base did not lead to money stock due to the existence of Japanese liquidity trap, long-term low interest rate policy.

  • According to the increase of demand of the deteriorated building. The interest of the building's maintenance is continually increased, so studies about how to increase building's stability & prolonged life span are increased. This study's purpose is to maintain building's function, so we suggest a protocol type system of UI to estimate reasonable planning of demand of repair & replacement and to distribute budget.

  • Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT), one of the most successful conducting polymers in the market place, has been attracting much interest because of its excellent environmental stability, high conductivity and transparency in thin, oxidized state. Since PEDOT was first synthesized in early 1990s by Jonas et al., many studies on PEDOT have been done to solve its insoluble property in any organic solvents and to extend its application fields[1]. • The evaluation of a few of the smallest eigenpairs of large symmetric eigenvalue problem is of great interest in many physical and engineering applications. A deflation-preconditioned conjugate gradient(PCG) scheme for a such problem has been shown to be very efficient. In the present paper we provide the numerical stability of a deflation-PCG with partial shifts.
