Superplastic forming of thin sheet into complex shape is an important manufacturing process especially in aerospace industry. The main interest in modeling the superplastic forming process is to predict the forming pressure cycle to maintain optimum strain rate and the resulting thickness distribution. Many researchers have attemped to model superplastic forming using the various techniques including finite element method. But in most of their researches have disregarded the strain hardening effect which which occurs in several superplastic materials. In this study ABAQUS finite element code was used for prediction of process variables for axisymmetric cup forming of Supral 100 and 7075Al alloys considereing strain hardening. The performance of numerical results were compared with the experimental results.
Fuzzy information representation of multi-source spatial data is applied to landslide hazard mapping. Information representation based on frequency ratio and non-parametric density estimation is used to construct fuzzy membership functions. Of particular interest is the representation of continuous data for preventing loss of information. The non-parametric density estimation method applied here is a Parzen window estimation that can directly use continuous data without any categorization procedure. The effect of the new continuous data representation method on the final integrated result is evaluated by a validation procedure. To illustrate the proposed scheme, a case study from Jangheung, Korea for landslide hazard mapping is presented. Analysis of the results indicates that the proposed methodology considerably improves prediction capabilities, as compared with the case in traditional continuous data representation.
D-optimality is used often in design augmentation of mixture experiments. Although such alphabetic criteria provide a valuable foundation for generating designs, they often fail to convey the true nature of the design's support of the fitted model in terms of prediction variance over a region of interest. Thus, a graphical method is proposed to evaluate augmented designs in mixture experiments. This method can be used to evaluate the effect of missing observation and outlier in mixture experiments.
Numerical estimation for concentration of mono-carbon oxygen (CO) gas inside an underground parking lot with auxiliary jet fans for enhancement of ventilation is carried out by using a commercial program. Main interest lies on the diagnosis of the present ventilation system including position and selection of auxiliarly fans in addition to main suppliers and exhausts. Details of both flows and concentration of CO gas that is most important component among car exhaust gases are illustrated in this investigation and those are presented for engineering construction of an underground parking pool. Prediction data of computational work is also validated by real measurements of concentration of CO gas.
Potential fuel economy improvements and environmental legislation have renewed interest in Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engines. Computational models of fuel injection and mixing processes pre-ignition are being developed for engine optimisation. These highly transient thermofluid models require verification against temporally and spatially resolved data-sets. The authors have previously established the capability of PDA to provide suitable temporally and spatially resolved spray characteristics such as mean droplet size, velocity components and qualitative mass distribution. This paper utilises this data-set to assess the predictive capability of a numerical model for GDI spray prediction. After a brief description of the two-phase model and discretisation sensitivity, the influence of initial spray conditions is discussed. A minimum of 5 initial global spray characteristics are required to model the downstream spray characteristics adequately under isothermal, atmospheric conditions. Verification of predicted transient spray characteristics such as the hollow-cone, cone collapse, head vortex, stratification and penetration are discussed, and further improvements to modelling GDI sprays proposed.
Social interest and request about low pollution waste treatment process are growing and gasification melting method, as a new technology concept, is risen. The necessity of engineering analysis to determine design standards and operation condition is required. In this study, the objective and function of components and operation process of various gasification melting furnaces such as shaft type, fluidized bed and Rotary Kiln type gasification melting furnace are reviewed and the design standard and operation range of gasification melting furnace are determined by inspecting the change of output and operation condition with input condition change.
To date, research on data mining has focused primarily on individual techniques to su, pp.rt knowledge discovery. However, the integration of elementary learning techniques offers a promising strategy for challenging a, pp.ications such as forecasting nonlinear processes. This paper explores the utility of an integrated a, pp.oach which utilizes a second-order learning process. The a, pp.oach is compared against individual techniques relating to a neural network, case based reasoning, and induction. In the interest of concreteness, the concepts are presented through a case study involving the prediction of network traffic for video-on-demand.

Football match predictions are of great interest to fans and sports press. In the last few years it has been the focus of several studies. In this paper, we propose the Poisson regression model in order to football match outcomes. We applied the proposed methodology to two national competitions: the 2012-2013 English Premier League and the 2015 Brazilian Football League. The number of goals scored by each team in a match is assumed to follow Poisson distribution, whose average reflects the strength of the attack, defense and the home team advantage. Inferences about all unknown quantities involved are made using a Bayesian approach. We calculate the probabilities of win, draw and loss for each match using a simulation procedure. Besides, also using simulation, the probability of a team qualifying for continental tournaments, being crowned champion or relegated to the second division is obtained.
Spin dependent tunneling has enormously activated the field of magnetism in general, and in particular spin transport studies, in the past ten years. Thousands of articles related to the subject have appeared with many fundamental results. Importantly, there is great interest in their potential for application. There was another surge of activity in this field since the past five years - created by the theoretical prediction of a large tunnel magnetoresistance that arises due to band symmetry matched coherent tunneling in epitaxial magnetic tunnel junctions with (001) MgO barrier and experimentally well demonstrated. This further development in the field has boosted the excitement in both fundamental science as well as the possibility of application in such as magnetic random access memory, ultra sensitive read heads, biosensors and spin torque diodes. This review is a brief coverage of the field highlighting the literature that deals with magnetic tunnel junctions having epitaxial MgO tunnel barriers.
This paper presents the analytical studies on the stress and strain of driven valve system of internal combustion engines. The stress and strain is predict using FEM. The particular interest is the dynamic strain at a specific point of the valve and valve seat. Cam and follower Assuming that one rigid surface. This study forced the effects changing Young's modulus and density of valve and valve seat contact area. It supports that the indirect method using FEM is reliable for prediction the actual displacement, stress and strain in the valve system.
