  • This paper proposes a robust detection scheme for quasi-orthogonal space-time block code over time-selective fading channels. The proposed detector performs interference cancellation and decision feedback equalization to remove the inter-antenna interference and inter-symbol interference when the channel varies from symbol to symbol. Cholesky factorization is used on the channel Gram matrix after performing interference cancellation to obtain feed forward equalizer and feedback equalizer. It is shown by simulations that the proposed detection scheme outperforms the conventional detection schemes and the exiting detection schemes to time-selectivity.

  • This paper is concerned with the DW-MCMA(Dual Weight vector Modified Constant Modulus Algorithm) adaptive equalization algorithm using the dual weight vector in order to improve the convergence characteristic and residual inter-symbol interference which are used as the performance index for an adaptive equalizer. The equalizer is used to reduce the distortion caused by the inter-symbol interference on the wireless and the wired band-limited channel that connect the transmitting system and receiving system. The CMA is widely known as the representative algorithm for equalization. In order to transmitting the mass information with a high speed through the channels, a fast convergence speed in the equalizer performance that is able to minimize overhead needed for equalization is acquired. In this paper, By the computer simulation, we confirmed that the proposed DW-MCMA has the faster convergence speed and the smaller residual inter-symbol interference than the conventional CMA and MCMA.

  • In this paper we propose an electronic domain timing phase selection scheme for the optical communication systems suffering from inter-symbol-interference (ISI) distortion due to chromatic dispersion (CD) or polarization mode dispersion (PMD). In the presence of CD/PMD a proper timing phase selection is important for discrete time domain equalizers, since different timing phases produce different nonlinear ISI channels of different severity. The proposed timing phase recovery scheme based on dispersion minimization (DM) practically approximates the optimal minimum mean squared error (MMSE) timing phase without training signals which reduces overall throughput substantially, especially in time-varying channels such as PMD. The simulation results show that the proposed DM timing agrees with MMSE timing phase, under proper normalization of the received signals, for various dispersion and OSNR.

  • High-speed I/O channels require adaptive techniques to optimize the settings for filter tap weights at decision feedback equalization (DFE) read channels to compensate for channel inter-symbol interference (ISI) and crosstalk from multiple adjacent channels. Both ISI and crosstalk tend to vary with channel length, process, and temperature variations. Individually optimizing parameters such as those just mentioned leads to suboptimal solutions. We propose a joint optimization technique for crosstalk cancellation (XTC) at DFE to compensate for both ISI and XTC in high-speed I/O channels. The technique is used to compensate for between 15.7 dB and 19.7 dB of channel loss combined with a variety of crosstalk strengths from $60mV_{p-p}$ to $180mV_{p-p}$ adaptively, where the transmit non-return-to-zero signal amplitude is a constant $500mV_{p-p}$.

  • Energy spreading transform (EST) based equalization is a very effective technique to remove inter symbol interference (ISI) in frequency selective channel. EST based system uses cyclic prefix (CP) similar to orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system. Since CP is a redundancy, it degrades the data transmission rate. RISIC is an algorithm that removes an inter block interference (IBI) caused by insufficient CP length and reconstructs CP. In this paper, we propose a system that combines the existing EST system with quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) modulation and RISIC algorithm to enhance the efficiency of the transmission. Also we extend the proposed system to 16 quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) modulation. The proposed system is shown to performance close to matched filter bound (MFB) even with insufficient CP.

  • In this paper, we analyzed efficient decoding scheme with FTN (Faster than Nyquist) method that is transmission method faster than Nyquist theory and increase the throughput. we proposed viterbi equalizer model to minimize ISI (Inter-Symbol Interference) when FTN signal is transmitted. the proposed model utilized interference as branch information. In this paper, to decode FTN singal, we used turbo equalization algorithms that iteratively exchange probabilistic information between soft Viterbi equalizer (BCJR method) and LDPC decoder. By changing the trellis diagram in order to maximize Euclidean distance, we confirmed that performance was improved compared to conventional methods as increasing throughput of FTN signal.

  • In this paper. we presented 1 & 2 dimensional minimum mean-squared-error (MMSE) equalization scheme in a digital holographic data storage system to improve bit-error-rate (BER) and to mitigate inter-symbol interference (ISI) which were generated during the data storage and retrieval processes. We showed experimentally for ten data pages retrieved from the holographic storage system that BER and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) were improved by adopting MMSE equalization.

  • In digital communication system that the Modified Constant Modulus Algorithm (MCMA) reduced the use of the adaptive equalization algorithm to combat the Inter-symbol Interference (ISI). MCMA is relatively brief operation. The major point of MCMA that it only achieves moderate convergence rate and steady state mean square error (MSE). In this paper suggest, MCMA equalization improve the performance with parallel structure. It combines Modified Constant Modulus Algorithm(MCMA) and Modified Decision Directed(MDD) algorithm. By exploiting the inherent structural relationship between the 4-QAM signal's coordinates and 16-QAM signal's coordinates, another style of cost function for Modified Constant Modulus Algorithm(MCMA) is defined and If it happen to offset of received signals and MCMA is poor performance in order to overcome this because the paper combines apply for MCMA and MDD(Modified Decision Direct) algorithm. By computer simulation, we confirmed that the proposed PMCMA-MDD algorithm has the fater convergence rate and steady mean square error than the conventional MCMA.

  • In this paper, we analyzed efficient decoding scheme with FTN(Faster than Nyquist) method that is transmission method faster than Nyquist theory and increase the throughput. Applying the FTN method to satellite and underwater communication, we proposed an efficient transceiver model. To minimize ISI(Inter-Symbol Interference) induced by FTN signal, turbo equalization algorithms that iteratively exchange probabilistic information between Viterbi equalizer based on BCJR algorithm and LDPC decoder are used in satellite communication. In others, for underwater communication, DFE equalizer and LDPC decoder are concatenated to improve performance.

  • Doppler Effect is a prominent obstacle in vehicular networks, which dramatically increase the Bit-Error-Rate (BER). This problem is accompanied with the presence of the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems in which the Doppler shift interrupts the subcarriers orthogonality. Additionally, Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI) and high Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) are likely to occur which corrupt the received signal. In this paper, the single-carrier combined with the frequency domain equalizer (SC-FDE) is utilized as an alternative to the OFDM over the IEEE 802.11p uplink vehicular channels. The Minimum Mean Squared Error (MMSE) and Zero-Forcing (ZF) are employed in order to study the impact of these equalization techniques along with the SC-FDE on the propagation medium. In addition, we aim to enhance the BER, improve the transmitted signal quality and achieve ISI and PAPR mitigation. The proposed schemes are investigated and we found that the MMSE outperforms the ZF equalization under different Doppler shift effects and modulations.
