  • The importance and the value of call center callers are increasing since they play very crucial roles as representatives of their companies at the closest contact point with customers. However, they have low satisfaction at work and are more likely to leave their jobs due to the fact that they are exhausted from heavy work load; they provide less pay and less chance for promotion than other jobs in the same industry. The high turnover costs companies high expenses on finding and training new callers. In the mean time, customer satisfaction may drop and it can give the customers negative image of the company. Therefore, solutions are required to keep the turnover of call center callers to the minimum. In this study, call center employees in Gwangju area were investigated for their job attitude and turnover intention. Based on the results, several implications are suggested.

  • This study examines the effects of economic and relational dimensions of supplier-distributor relationship on distributors intents to leave. A survey of 121 computer hardware distributors revealed that distributors commitment to the relationship and their transaction-specific investment would decrease directly the level of withdrawal intention. Other relational dimensions such as the procedural and distributive fairness, the morality of aspiration, and economic dimensions such as the transaction-specific investment made by the supplier and distributors expectations fo future performance increase indirectly the level of withdrawal intension via affecting either trust or commitment. The present study also found that perceived uncertainty and relative dependence might moderate the effects the economic and relational dimensions on distributors intents to leave. Relational dimensions, when compared to economic dimensions, tend to have stronger impacts on withdrawal intentions under high levels of uncertainty and relative dependence.

  • Background: This study investigated the effect of increased job stress, caused by musculoskeletal disease (MSD) among firefighters, on a firefighter's intention to leave the profession, henceforth referred to as "turnover intention," and verified the moderating effect of mindfulness on such a relationship. Methods: A survey involving a total of 549 Korean male firefighters as participants was conducted herein, and the following results were obtained: the mediation effect of the MSD to turnover intention through job stress was confirmed, and the indirect effect of job stress was verified. Results: We verified the moderated mediation effect of mindfulness on the relation:MSD, job stress, and turnover intention. The conditional indirect effect for middle and high levels of mindfulness is significant. Conclusion: The result of this study is supported by proofs of the relationship between a firefighter's MSD, job stress, and turnover intention, and these case studies reveal the moderated mediation effect of dispositional mindfulness.

  • Recruiting and maintaining capable IS personnel is crucial to on-time application developments and information services that can gear to corporate strategic planning and to achieve corporate goals and objectives. A shortage of fine IS staff has been always a threat to providing satisfactory IS services and a constraint that holds companies back to expand further and operate more efficiently. Therefore, it is necessary to understand factors that satisfy IS personnel and then restrain them not to leave their current job positions. However, little study has been done about what these factors are and how these factors are related to the turnover intention each other especially using domestic data. Therefore, this study suggested a structural turnover intention model and investigated relationships among the selected factors including demographic variables, career-related variables, job satisfaction, career satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intentions. Major findings are: i) overall, career-related variables, job satisfaction and organizational commitment significantly determine the turnover intention, ii) contrary to the U.S. studies, our IS people tend to show lower organizational commitment as they become older and get more experience, and iii) contrary to the U.S.'s findings, career-related variables are negatively related to organizational commitment. Implications and discussions of these findings are also described.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide the evidence necessary to establish job stress management strategies to improve office workers conditions by looking at the impact on job stress factors depending on the nature of the organization. The stress related variables (job stress and psychological well-being) and organizational effectiveness variables (job satisfaction, job engagement, intention to leave, and presentieesm) was included. A total of 154 questionnaires were distributed from 26th June to 1 August 2014 and 150 people were analyzed. The results indicated that a lack of reward was negatively correlated with job satisfaction and job engagement, and positively correlated with the intention to leave (p<0.05) in a large-sized company model. Moreover, in a medium-sized company model, organizational injustice was statistically significant with job satisfaction and job engagement. Organizational injustice, lack of reward, and occupational climate was positively correlated with the intention to leave (p<0.05). This study has its significance in that it looked at the job stress as a predictive variable to explain the organizational effectiveness and highlights the need to establish a stress management strategy depending on the nature of the company.

  • This study inquires into employee's intent to leave in South Korean dental clinics. A systematic research was undertaken on theories of leadership types, job satisfaction, organizational commitment and empowerment, and then interaction between these variables was verified based on quantitative data by using Structural Equation Model (SEM). The findings suggest that making improvements of empowerment, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment demand individualized consideration and charisma, the components of transformational leadership. As a way to reduce turnover intention, the role of job satisfaction and organizational commitment was more influential than that of empowerment. Also, a combination of charisma of transformational leadership and contingent reward of transactional leadership turned out to be the ideal leadership type to reduce turnover intention. Lastly, the harmony of individual goal with that of organization, apparent documentation of reward system, and stress control were recommended as practical solutions to improve organizational profitability and effectiveness and to reduce turnover rate in dental clinics.

  • As an attempt to develop new functional beverages, various ingredients including pine needle, P Japonica, C. Militaris, black tea, artemisia, cocoa, and persimmon leave tea, were used to make fermented beverages and their chemical and sensory properties were evaluated. The acidity of beverages produced was the highest in the one with C. Militaris, and the lowest in the ones with persimmon leave tea and pine needle. The pH of P Japonica beverage, 2.54, was the lowest among all. The sugar content was the highest in the one of C. Militaris and the lowest in cocoa-used one. In sensory evaluation, the fermented beverages prepared with persimmon leave tea, pine needle, and artemisia were significantly more preferable in acceptability than the others (p<.001). For purchase intention, the beverage prepared with persimmon leave tea got the highest score followed by the ones with pine needle and artemisia, and the scores of those three beverages were significantly higher than the others (p<.001). Hunter color test showed that fermented beverage added Black tea was the lowest in lightness, but the highest in redness and yet-lowness(p<.001). The beverages with high scores in sweet odor, sweet taste, and purchase intention were more favored in the sensory evaluation looking at the correlation among the sensory properties. And the lightness in color had a positive correlation, and the redness and yellowness had negative correlations with appearance quality of the beverages. Chemical properties like pH and acidity were negatively correlated with the acceptability, and the sugar content was positively correlated with sweet odor.

  • Customers' evaluation of Website with satisfaction is critical in electroniccommerce. Previous research has studied in a distinct approach; especially IT oriented constructs-perceived usefulness, easy of use and marketing oriented constructs-product, shopping experience, service quality. Despite those important previous studies regarding the usage and the purchase of goods and services, how consumers are satisfied and why consumers leave Web sites without purchasing have not been extensively researched. This study explored those determinants of consumer satisfaction with Web site using expectation-disconfirmation theory (EDT). The present paper extends the range of EDT from antecedents of expectation to consequence of satisfaction. The result suggests that experience and familiarity has an impact on expectation as well as perceived performance and satisfaction. Second, higher expectation makes a negative impact on disconfirmation of expectation. Third, positive disconfirmation of expectation makes a positive impact on satisfaction. Forth. satisfaction produces loyalty and repurchasing intention. Finally, loyal customer has stronger intention to repurchase than satisfied customer.
