An Analysis of Customer Preferences of Recommendation Techniques and Influencing Factors: A Comparative Study of Electronic Goods and Apparel Products (추천기법별 고객 선호도 및 영향요인에 대한 분석: 전자제품과 의류군에 대한 비교연구)

  • Although various recommendation techniques have been applied to the e-commerce market, few studies compare the intent to use these techniques from the customer's perspective. In this paper, we conduct a comparative analysis of customers' intention to use five recommendation techniques widely adapted by online shopping malls and focus on the differences in purchasing electronic goods and apparel products. The recommendation techniques are as follows: best-seller recommendation, merchandiser recommendation, content-based recommendation, collaborative filtering recommendation, and social recommendation. Additionally, we examine which factors influence customer intent to use the recommendation services. Data were collected through a survey administered to 220 e-commerce users with prior experience with recommendation services. Collected data were examined using analysis of variance and regression analysis. Results indicate statistically significant differences in customers' intention to use recommendation services according to the recommendation technique. In particular, the best-seller recommendation technique is preferred when purchasing electronic goods, whereas the content-based recommendation technique is preferred for apparel purchases. Factors such as personal characteristics and personality, purchasing tendency, as well as perception of the product or recommendation service affect a customer's intention to use a recommendation service. However, the influence of these factors varies depending on the recommendation technique. This study provides guidelines for companies to adopt appropriate recommendation techniques according to product categories and personal characteristics of customers.

  • Virtual community(VC) will increasingly be organized as commercial enterprises, with the objective of earning an attractive financial return by providing members with valuable resources and environment. For example, Cyworld.com in Korea uses several community services to enable customers of Cyworld to take control of their own value as potential purchasers of products and services. Although initial adoption is important for online network service success, it does not necessarily result in the desired managerial performance unless the initial usage is continuously related to the continuous usage and purchase. Particularly, the customer who receives relevant online services and is well equipped with online network services, will trust the online service provider and perceive less risk and experience more activities such as continuous usage and purchase. Thus, how to promote continued online service usage or, alternatively, how to prevent discontinuance is a critical issue for VC service providers to consider. By aggregating a wide range of information and online environments for customers and providing trust to its members, the service providers of virtual communities help to reduce the perceived risk of continuous usage and purchase. Drill down, online service managers realize that achieving strong and sustained customers who continuously use online service and purchase on it is crucial. Therefore, the research into this online service continuance will identify the relationship between the initial usage and the continuous usage and purchase. The research of continuous usage or post adoption has recently emerged as an important issue in the IS literature. Individuals' information systems(IS) continuous usage decisions are congruent with consumers' repeat purchase decisions. The TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) paradigm has been strongly confirmed across a wide range from product purchase on EC to online service usage contexts. The analysis of IS usage based on TAM has proven to be successful across almost online service contexts. However, most of previous studies have focused on only an area (i.e., VC or EC). Just little research has tried to analyze the relationship between VC and EC. The effect of some factors on user intention, captured through several theories such as TAM, has been demonstrated. Yet, few studies have explored the salient relationships of VC users' EC acceptance. To fill this gap between VC and EC research, this paper attempts to develop a research model that extends the TAM perspective in view of the additional contributions of trust in the service provider and trust in members on some factors that affect EC and VC adoption. In this extension, we applied the TAM-to-TAM(T2T) model, and analyzed the transfer effect of trust between these two TAMs. The research model was empirically tested on the context of a social network service. The model was to extend TAM with the trust concept for the virtual community environment from the perspective of tasks. By building an extended model of TAM and examining the relationships between trust and the existing variables of TAM, it is aimed to explain a user's continuous intention to use VC and purchase on EC. The unit of analysis in this paper is an individual user of a virtual community. The population of interest is the individual with the experiences in virtual community. The data for this paper was made available via a Web survey of VC users. In total, 281 cases were gathered for about one week, but there were some missing values in the sample and there were some inappropriate cases. Thus, only 248 cases were finally analyzed. We chose the structural equation analysis to test the hypotheses and it is better suited for explaining complex relationships than the other methods. In this test, AMOS was used to test the Structural Equation Model (SEM). Noticeable results have been found in the T2T model regarding the factors affecting the intention to use of virtual community and loyalty. Our result showed that trust transfer plays a key role in forming the two adoption beliefs. Overall, this study preliminarily confirms the salience of trust transfer in online service.

  • This study used the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology(UTAUT) model to find factors that influence consumer acceptance intention toward Vertiport, a physical ground support technology required to implement AAM services. The analysis showed that among the four independent variables, Vertiport's social influence and facilitating conditions have a significant impact on future Vertiport usage behavior. At this point, the public has not yet had actual experience with Vertiport, so there is a limitation of considering it as a future concept based on speculation and measuring acceptance by actual behaviors related to its use (inquiries, information gathering, interest, etc.). Research on acceptance and attitudes toward new transportation methods should be further activated and developed along with future service development. Through the results of this study, we aim to understand the initial public acceptance of Vertiport as a ground-based infrastructure in the AAM field (or UAM) and propose strategic implications for the direction of service development.

The Effect of E-Service Quality on Customer Satisfaction and Repurchase Intention: Focusing on Fresh Food (E-서비스품질이 고객만족도와 재구매의도에 미치는 영향: 신선식품을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to confirm the influence of E-service quality of fresh product quality, logistics quality, and website quality on customer satisfaction and repurchase intentions. For the analysis, we used SPSS 23.0 to perform multiple regression analysis with 284 people who have purchased fresh food from China E-Services. The research results show that the better the E-service quality, the more positive (+) impact it has on customer satisfaction. In the relationship between E-service quality and purchase intention, customer satisfaction has a media effect. Through the analysis of the results, in order to improve customer satisfaction, it is necessary to focus on the quality of fresh food, provide excellent logistics, and allow customers to use convenient websites. This study only studies the general environment of E-services in the fresh food market, and will recommend specific implementation for one company in the future.

A Study on User-Library Relationship with the Library Curation Service (도서관 큐레이션 서비스를 통한 이용자-도서관 관계형성에 대한 연구)

  • As the core task was selected in the 3rd Comprehensive Library Advancement Plan, 'Reinforcement of programs and services to strengthen future citizens' capacity required in the Fourth Industrial Revolution', the customized curation service of the library using artificial intelligence technology has recently been in the spotlight. The purpose of this study is to find out how the customized curation service affects the relationship between the library and the user. As a result, the library curation service was proved to have a statistically significant effect on user satisfaction and reliability. Satisfaction and reliability were also found to have a positive effect on library revisit, word of mouth intention, increased use, and new service intention. The results of this study can be used as basic data for the development and the operation of customized curation services based on user demand surveys, and could further contribute to enhancing the status of public libraries in Korea by mproving the competitiveness of libraries in the future society.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of benefit sought and service quality of the travel show visitors who are used as advertisements of tourism companies due to increase of tourism on the behavioral intentions and to use as a useful information to plan travel show. For this study, 240 visitors from Hanatour International Travel Show are selected. And 203 valid questionnaires are analyzed. With collected materials, SPSS 17.0, AMOS 7.0 program was used to verify research problems. As a result, travel show visitors' benefit sought don't have any influence on the behavioral intentions to revisit and to recommend. Second, travel show visitors' service quality have a positive influence on the behavioral intentions to revisit and to recommend. Thus travel show host should try hard to make travel show be an important tourism resource by continuous improvement of service quality.

Empirical Study on Antecedents and Consequences of Users' Fatigue on SNS and the Moderating Effect of Habit (SNS에서의 사용자 피로감의 선행 및 결과 요인과 습관의 조절효과에 관한 실증연구)

  • The development of Social Network Service (SNS) has brought many positive changes to the ways people communicate, interact and share information. However, using the SNS does not always leads to in a positive results, particularly when it is addictively used. In fact, the addictive use of SNS results in many negative effects in our society. Recently, SNS users feel negative emotions such as expecially stress and fatigue while using SNS. Thus, the purpose of this study is to empirically examine antecedents of user fatigue on SNS, which can be explained by the degree of Individual, environment and SNS characteristics. This study also examines consequences of user fatigue on SNS. Lastly, we examine the moderating effects of Habit among SNS fatigue, barrier of living and task performance decline. The data for empirical analysis were collected 401 responses on SNS users in Korea. The results of this study are as follows; First, reputation perception, loneliness, unwanted relation, privacy concern, information overload, social presence and interaction are significantly related to SNS fatigue. Second, SNS fatigue, barrier of living and Task performance decline are significantly related to discontinuous usage intention. Third, the moderating effect of Habit of SNS using is found in the relationship among SNS fatigue, barrier of living and task performance decline. Based on the results of this study, Theoretical and practical suggestions were discussed.

Menu Evaluation for Native Foods in Jeonju Area (전주지역 향토음식의 메뉴평가에 관한 연구)

  • This study evaluated the menus of native foods menu in the Jeonju city area in order to present possible improvements. The study examined twenty native food restaurants that target the visitors to the Jeonju city area from July 20 to August 12, 2005. These restaurants specialize in Jeonjubibimbap, Kongnamulgukbap, Hanjeongsik, and Dolsotbibimbap, which are all native foods of Jeonju. Restaurant patrons were randomly selected on leaving the study aim was explained, and questionnaires were distributed. of 200 papers, only 109 were suitable for statistical analysis. First, four factors of menu evaluation were drawn out: inner shape factor of food, outer shape factor of food, sanitation factor, and service factor. Second, the analysis showed statistically significant difference at the 5% significance level in age, job, and monthly income. Third, regression analysis between the factors on menu evaluation and the variables on their intention to visit the restaurant again, indicated that the inner shape factor of food influenced the intention to visit again. It is expected that these study results will assist the employees, restaurant managers, and chefs in making the best practical use of the basic ingredients to promote food quality and increase sales, which will lead to the further development of Jeonju city.

  • Before COVID-19 outbreak in 2019, it is the core value of airline's service to provide check-in service to passengers face to face. However, due to the global pandemic of COVID-19 outbreak, it is expected the airline service in the future would be dramatically changed from being contacted to being untacted with technology-based self service(TBSS). This paper analyzed the perception of passengers using self service technology and their acceptance. According to empirical analysis, it was found that the change of passengers' perception after COVID-19 has a significant positive effect on the innovation of TBSS. The innovation of TBSS(Effectiveness and certainty) had both significant positive effect on the passengers' acceptance on TBSS at airport. Among variables of TBSS, convenience rather than usefulness of TBSS had a significant positive effect on intention to use TBSS of passengers. It was proposed that airlines not only contribute to increase acceptance of TBSS but also inform and promote the prevention effect of TBSS and the importance of untact service to minimize congestion at check-in counter in airport.

A Study on Infant Caregivers' Library Use Behavior and Factors Affecting Their Revisit and Intention of Recommending Library Visit to Other People: Focusing on Public Library Services in G-City (영유아 보호자의 도서관 이용행태 및 재이용과 추천의사 영향 요인 연구 - G광역시 공공도서관을 중심으로 -)

  • The study examined the behavior of infant's caregivers using public libraries, measured the level of awareness of infant and toddler services in the library to determine the factors affecting their revisit or recommendation of use to others, and examined the impact of such recognition on the use behavior, revisit and willingness to recommend others. The study surveyed 146 caregivers of infants who use four public libraries in Gwangju Metropolitan City on demographic characteristics, library use behavior, level of awareness of library services, library revisit and recommendation to others. Analysis of this survey shows that the factors that influence the caregivers' revisit of the library or their desire to recommend to others through their caregivers' use of the library are the factors that influence the expansion of information data, the stability of space facilities, the accessibility of space facilities, and the ease of participation in programs among the various service factors provided by the library rather than the personal factors of infants and toddlers' caregivers.
