Building a Conceptual Model Using Ontology for the Efficient Retrieval of Cases from Fuzzy-CBR of Collision Avoidance Support System

  • We have proposed Fuzzy-CBR to find a solution from past knowledge retrieved from the database and adapted to a new situation. However, ontology is needed in identifying concepts, relations and instances that are involved in a situation in order to improve and facilitate the efficient retrieval of similar cases from the CBR database. This paper proposes the way to apply ontology fur identifying the concepts involved in a new case, used as inputs, for a ship collision avoidance support system and in solving for similarity through document articulation and abstraction levels. These ontologies will be used to build a conceptual model of a maneuvering situation.

  • In Korea, it is constructing the Intelligent Transportation System(ITS) in according with the ITS project implementation guideline and each ITS standard on the basis of "National Integrated Transportation System Efficiency Act". However, only a few ITS project implementation guideline and ITS standard for the exchange of information technologies are not able to construct a smart ITS, without technical regulation for the technical characteristics of the main ITS equipment. Therefore, in this paper, we identify the current status and problems of the legal system and look for the necessity of technical regulation enactment for the smart ITS construction.

  • The objective of a traffic management system is to promote safe driving, low pollution, short travel time, and optimized traffic flow by naturally distributing the flow of traffic through the use of suitable telecommunications media. Such traffic management systems will be improved by integrating dynamic traffic data and two-way communication media because cars can work as sensors. The purpose of this paper is to help organizations trying to select the correct telecommunications media for minimal-cost investment options without loss of functionality. The wireless communications for an intelligent transportation system (ITS) are introduced in this paper. We describe which kind of telecommunication media are suitable. FM broadcast type media or cellular phone can be recommended to provide real time traffic and roadway conditions in the first stage of ITS, because existing broadcast base station or cellular network facilities can be used. It is expected that cellular radio network or satellites are used for communication. Finally, the strategy and deployment plan of an ITS are described based on selections of telecommunication media in Korea.

  • In urban area, since multipath and signal attenuations frequently occur due to street trees, street lights and buildings, it is difficult to obtain accurate navigation solution using GPS. As these problems also impact negatively on the INS/GPS coupled system, implementing advanced transportation systems such as autonomous navigation system and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) become quite hard. For this reason, to alleviate deterioration of navigation system performance in urban area, direction information extraction algorithm using vision system is proposed in this paper. 2D Finite Rate of Innovation (FRI) technique is applied to extract lane edges. The proposed technique is simulated using road images and feasibility of proposed technique is analyzed through the simulation results.

  • This study conducted an operational evaluation of an emergency vehicle preemption system that can be operated as a wide-area unit beyond the boundaries of local governments. Analyzed the speed reduction rate of emergency vehicle dispatch data and traffic speed data to analyze the speed reduction rate of emergency vehicles operating in a wide area and region. In Goyang City, local dispatches were reduced by 50.8% and regional dispatches by 55.8%, while in Paju City, local dispatches were reduced by 55.1% and regional dispatches by 62.5%. The wide-area emergency vehicle preemption system proved to be effective when emergency vehicles were dispatched outside of local boundaries, such as confirming that there were many dispatches from Paju-si to Goyang-si when there were no large hospitals nearby.   • Vehicle location detection and wireless communication method have be designed along the same lines as GPS, CDMA and WLAN, which is based upon the selecting factors such as state-of-art technology trend, accuracy, stability, and economic feasibility, in order to select the optimum method of information communication networks for integrated "Transportation-Power-Facilities" on the electric bus. In addition, the key features of each alternative for an efficient linkage have been review and the integration methodology for linking among Transportation Charging Center, Transportation(ITS, BIS) Center and smart Grid Center has been drawn up based on a technical level of difficulty of each alternative, political and administrative difficulties, and expense justification.

  • Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) is being used at ports and in coastal areas of the world for preventing accidents and improving efficiency of the vessels at sea on the basis of "IMO RESOLUTION A.857 (20) on Guidelines for Vessel Traffic Services". Currently, VTS plays an important role in the prevention of maritime accidents, as ships are required to participate in the system. Ships are diversified and traffic situations in ports and coastal areas have become more complicated than before. The role of VTS operator (VTSO) has been enlarged because of these reasons, and VTSO is required to be clearly aware of maritime situations and take decisions in emergency situations. In this paper, we propose a prediction table to improve the work of VTSO through the Cognitive Work Analysis (CWA), which analyzes the VTS work very systematically. The required data were collected through interviews and observations of 14 VTSOs. The prediction tool supports decision-making in terms of a proactive measure for the prevention of maritime accidents.

  • In the Recent times, various technological enhancements in the field of artificial intelligence and big data has been noticed. This advancement coupled with the evolution of the 5G communication and Internet of Things technologies, has helped in the development in the domain of smart mine construction. The development of unmanned vehicles with enhanced and smart scheduling system for open-pit mine transportation is one such much needed application. Traditional open-pit mining systems, which often cause vehicle delays and congestion, are controlled by human authority. The number of sensors has been used to operate unmanned cars in an open-pit mine. The sensors haves been used to prove the real-time data in large quantity. Using this data, we analyses and create an improved transportation scheduling mechanism so as to optimize the paths for the vehicles. Considering the huge amount the data received and aggregated through various sensors or sources like, the GPS data of the unmanned vehicle, the equipment information, an intelligent, and multi-target, open-pit mine unmanned vehicle schedules model was developed. It is also matched with real open-pit mine product to reduce transport costs, overall unmanned vehicle wait times and fluctuation in ore quality. To resolve the issue of scheduling the transportation, we prefer to use algorithms based on artificial intelligence. To improve the convergence, distribution, and diversity of the classic, rapidly non-dominated genetic trial algorithm, to solve limited high-dimensional multi-objective problems, we propose a decomposition-based restricted genetic algorithm for dominance (DBCDP-NSGA-II).
