A New Modular 3-phase AC-DC Flyback Converter for Telecommunication

  • A novel mode of parallel operation of a modular 3-phase AC-DC flyback converter for power factor correction along with tight regulation was recently analyzed and presented. The advantage of the proposed converter does not require expensive high voltage and high current devices that are normally needed in popular boost type 3-phase converter. In this paper the detailed small signal analysis of the modular 3-phase AC-DC flyback converter is provided for control purposes and also experimental results are included to confirm the validity of the analysis.

An Intelligent Search Modeling using Avatar Agent

  • This paper proposes an intelligent search modeling using avatar agent. This system consists of some modules such as agent interface, agent management, preprocessor, interface machine. Core-Symbol Database and Spell Checker are related to the preprocessor module and Interface Machine is connected with Best Aggregate Designer. Our avatar agent system does the indexing work that converts user's natural language type sentence to the proper words that is suitable for the specific branch information retrieval. Indexing is one of the preprocessing steps that make it possible to guarantee the specialty of user's input and increases the reliability of the result. It references a database that consists of synonym and specific branch dictionary. The resulting symbol after indexing is used for draft search by the internet search engine. The retrieval page position and link information are stored in the database. We experimented our system with the stock market keyword SAMSUNG_SDI, IBM, and SONY and compared the result with that of Altavista and Google search engine. It showed quite excellent results.

  • In silicon wafer manufacturing process, the grinding process has been adopted to improve the flatness of wafer. The grinding of wafer is usually used by the infeed grinding machine. The infeed grinding machine has been depended on imports. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the infeed grinding machine because the demand of the infeed grinding machine is increasing more and more. This paper describes the technologies of infeed grinding machine and intend to introduce the studies in the development of the intelligent grinding system for grinding of wafer. The air bearing spindle for the infeed grinding machine was developed by domestic technologies and the grinding part design of the intelligent grinding system for wafer grinding was completed.

Intelligent Immigration Control System by Using Passport Recognition and Face Verification

  • This paper proposes the intelligent immigration control system that authorizes the traveler through immigration and detects forged passports by using automatic recognition of passport codes, the passport photo and face verification. The proposed system extracts and deskewes the areas of passport codes from the passport image. This paper proposes the novel ART algorithm creating the adaptive clusters to the variations of input patterns and it is applied to the extracted code areas for the code recognition. After compensating heuristically the recognition result, the detection of forged passports is achieved by using the picture and face verification between the passport photo extracted from the passport image and the picture retrieved from the database based on the recognized codes. Due to the proposed ART algorithm and the heuristic refinement, the proposed system relatively shows better performance.

  • This article presents experimental studies of fuzzy logic application to control a two-wheel mobile robot(TWMR) system. The TWMR system is composed of two systems, an inverted pendulum system and a mobile robot system. Although linear controllers can stabilize the TWMR, fuzzy controllers are expected to have robustness to uncertainties so that the resulting performances are expected to be better. Nominal fuzzy rules are used to control balance and position of TWMR. Fuzzy logic is embedded on a DSP chip to control the TWMR. Balancing performances of the PID controller and the fuzzy controller under disturbances are compared through extensive experimental studies.

  • 본 논문에서는 KRISTAL2000을 성능 향상시킨 KRISTAL2002의 특징을 간략히 소개하고 KRISTAL2002와 성능을 비교 분석한다. 개선된 부분 중에서 KRISTAL2000 시스템의 단점이었든 하나의 데몬으로 하나의 테이블 밖에 지원하지 못하던 기능을 KRISTAL2002에서는 하나의 데몬이 여러개의 테이블들을 검색 지원한다. 본 논문에서는 다중 테이블을 이용하여 KRISTAL2002의 성능을 실험하고 그 결과를 비교 분석하였다.

  • 현대인의 활동범위가 넓어지고 작업의 양이 많아지면서, 육체적ㆍ정신적 피로를 해결할 수 있는 쾌적환경에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 쾌적감이란 인간이 쉽게 동조하고 물입할 수 있어서, 인간과 환경이 일체가 되기 쉬운 상태로서 이에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되어오고 있다. 본 논문은 수학적으로 표현하기 어려운 인간의 쾌적감 요소이미지와 물리적 환경 요소의 구조 분석에 신경망 이론을 적용한다. 인간감성 모델과 역인간감성모델을 제안하여, 지능제어 이론인 신경망(Neural Network)이 쾌적감 요소이미지와 물리적 환경 요소의 구조 분석에 유용하게 사용될 수 있음을 보인다.

  • A lot of conventional automotive components driven by mechanical power source are being replated with electrical ones to comply with the demands of market and customer, therefore the amount of electric energy used in a vehicle will be increased continuously. The increment of electric power demand causes interest on new higher power system such as 42V Power Net, and furthermore necessity for development of energy storage device is highlighted recently. This paper presents the design of the BLDC motor drive for Cooling Fan in 42V automotive system. Test results confirmed the feasibility of the proposed motor drive system design.

Intelligent Electronic Nose System for Detection of VOCs in Exhaled Breath

  • Significant progress has been made recently in detection of highly sensitive volatile organic compounds (VOCs) using chemical sensors. Combined with the progress in design of micro sensors array and electronic nose systems, these advances enable new applications for detection of extremely low concentrations of breath-related VOCs. State of the art detection technology in turn enables commercial sensor systems for health care applications, with high detection sensitivity and small size, weight and power consumption characteristics. We have been developing an intelligent electronic nose system for detection of VOCs for healthcare breath analysis applications. This paper reviews our contribution to monitoring of respiratory diseases and to diabetic monitoring using an intelligent electronic nose system for detection of low concentration VOCs using breath analysis techniques.

Learning data analysis strategy in intelligent learning system (지능형 학습 시스템에서의 학습데이터 분석 전략)

  • This study is about a strategy to analyze learning activities in an intelligent learning system. To this end, the conceptual definition of the intelligent learning system and the type of learning using the intelligent learning system were analyzed. The learning types were presented as individual, adaptive, competency-based, and blended learning, and although there are some differences, most of them have similar characteristics. In addition, learning activity analysis is based on data such as mouse clicks, keyboarding, and uploads generated by the system. Through this, basic analysis such as viewing time and number of uploads can be performed. However, more diverse learning analysis is needed for personalization and adaptation. It can judge not only learning attitude and achievement level, but also metacognitive level and creativity level. However, since the level of metacognition includes complex human cognitive activities, the teacher's intervention is required in the judgment of the intelligent learning system.
