차세대 디지털 사이니지의 발전방향 (Future Directions on the Next Generation of Digital Signage)

  • 디지털 사이니지(Digital Signage)란 길가나 점포, 공공시설 등에 표시되어 있는 포스터나 안내표시, 간판 등 기존의 하드웨어 매체가 아닌 디지털 디스플레이를 통해 각종 콘텐츠와 메시지를 제공하는 옥외 미디어를 말한다. 최근 LCD, LED 등을 기반으로 하는 지능형 디지털 영상장치의 급속한 발전으로 디지털 사이니지(Digital Signage)는 보편화되고 있으며, 기존의 단방향 광고 매체가 아닌 쌍방향 의사소통이 가능한 특징으로 인해 디지털 사이니지에 대한 수요 및 시장은 급속한 성장을 보이고 있다. 디지털 광고시장은 전반적인 글로벌 경기침체에도 불구하고 지속적인 성장세를 보일것으로 전망하고 있으며, 융합(Convergence)미디어 관점에서도 간판이 디지털화됨에 따라 정보와 예술, 콘텐츠, 기업 마케팅 니즈가 결합되면서 점차 TV 등 기존 매체광고를 대체하는 새로운 수단으로서의 역할을 수행할 것으로 예상하고 있다.

국내 디지털 사이니지 산업 활성화 방안 (The Revitalization Strategy of Digital Signage Industry)

  • Domestic digital signage industry has been growing in line with the Internet and intelligent devices like smart phones. However, policies for digital signage need to be supplemented because existing policies are only focused on regulations for outdoor advertisements. Moreover, while digital technologies have been developed, there are few contents technologies to support the digital technologies. In this context, this research aims to identify the problems in relation to the domestic digital signage industry and seek for measures to solve the problems. Various case studies and literature review were conducted to identify problems in terms of policy, technology and service, and measures for revitalizing the digital signage industry were suggested. The research is expected to help digital signage to serve as new convergence media available for customization targeting and user participation.

  • Nowadays, the most of commercial buildings are build-out with complex architecture and decorated with more complicated interiors of buildings so establishing intelligible escape routes becomes an important case of fire or other emergency in a limited time. The commercial buildings are already equipped with multiple exit signs and these exit signs may create confusion and leads the people into different directions under emergency. This can jeopardize the emergency situation into a chaotic state, especially in a complex layout buildings. There are many research focused on implementing different approached to improve the exit sign system with better visual navigating effects, such as the use of laser beams, the combination of audio and video cues, etc. However the digital signage system based emergency exit sign management is one of the best solution to guide people under emergency situations to escape. This research paper, propose an intelligent evacuation route GUIDE that uses the combination centralized Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) and digital signage for people safety and avoids dangers from emergency conditions. This proposed system applies WSN to detect the environment condition in the building and uses an evacuation algorithm to estimate the safe route to escape using the sensor information and then activates the signage system to display the safe evacuation route instruction GUIDE according to the location the signage system is installed. This paper presented the prototype of the proposed signage system and execution time to find the route with future research directions. The proposed system provides a natural intelligent evacuation route interface for self or remote operation in facility management to efficiently GUIDE people to the safe exit under emergency conditions.

  • In this paper, we present an entry-level COVID-19 stand-alone digitial signage player (CoSiP) which performs not only conventional digital signage functionalities but also fever detection, face mask wearing detection, and KI-pass QR code checking. The overall design of CoSiP is proposed, and implementation of a temperature checking algorithm using a low cost thermal sensor is elaborately presented. Through experiments over datasets and against a developed CoSiP device, it is shown that the fever detection, face mask wearing detection, KI-pass QR code checking as well as signage functionalities of the proposed CoSiP work properly and reliably.

Digital Signage System Based on Intelligent Recommendation Model in Edge Environment: The Case of Unmanned Store

  • This paper proposes a digital signage system based on an intelligent recommendation model. The proposed system consists of a server and an edge. The server manages the data, learns the advertisement recommendation model, and uses the trained advertisement recommendation model to determine the advertisements to be promoted in real time. The advertisement recommendation model provides predictions for various products and probabilities. The purchase index between the product and weather data was extracted and reflected using correlation analysis to improve the accuracy of predicting the probability of purchasing a product. First, the user information and product information are input to a deep neural network as a vector through an embedding process. With this information, the product candidate group generation model reduces the product candidates that can be purchased by a certain user. The advertisement recommendation model uses a wide and deep recommendation model to derive the recommendation list by predicting the probability of purchase for the selected products. Finally, the most suitable advertisements are selected using the predicted probability of purchase for all the users within the advertisement range. The proposed system does not communicate with the server. Therefore, it determines the advertisements using a model trained at the edge. It can also be applied to digital signage that requires immediate response from several users.

  • 최근 연구된 상품 추천 서비스들은 고객들의 구매 이력을 통해서만 추천이 이루어졌다. 본 논문에서는 구매 이력을 통해 추천뿐만 아니라 고객이 상품을 고를 때 취하는 행동 패턴을 분석하여 관심도가 높은 광고를 노출하는 행동 패턴 분석 기반 디지털 사이니지 서비스를 제안한다. 이 서비스는 고객행동 패턴을 분석하여 실질적으로 관심을 가지는 상품에 대해 관심도를 추출한다. 추출된 관심도와 고객들의 구매 이력을 Wide & Deep 모델을 통해 학습하고, 이를 바탕으로 MF(Matrix Factorization) 모델을 통해 다른 상품들의 희소 벡터를 예측한다. 예측된 상품 관심도에 대한 순위를 도출하고, 적합한 광고를 노출하기 위해 고객과 상호 작용할 수 있는 인도어 사이니지를 활용한다. 본 논문의 서비스를 통해 온라인뿐만이 아닌 오프라인 환경에서도 고객의 관심 정보를 파악하고 단순히 무작위로 노출하는 광고가 아닌 고객에게 적합한 광고를 제공하여 만족도 높은 구매 환경이 조성될 것이다.

  • 본 논문은 엣지컴퓨팅 환경에서 딥러닝기반 추천모델을 이용한 지능형 디지털 사이니지 플랫폼을 제안한다. 제안하는 플랫폼은 서버와 엣지로 구성되어 있다. 서버는 데이터를 관리하고, 광고추천 모델을 학습시키며, 엣지는 학습된 광고추천 모델을 이용하여 실시간으로 광고될 상품을 결정한다. 광고추천 모델은 상품을 선별하는 단계와 구매확률을 예측하는 단계로 구성되어 있다. 선별단계에서는 DNN에 벡터화된 사용자 기본정보와 상품 메타데이터를 입력하여 구매할 만한 상품을 도출한다. 최종적으로 군집의 예측된 구매확률을 이용하여 가장 적합한 광고를 선정한다. 제안하는 시스템은 서버와 통신하지 않고 엣지에서 학습된 모델로 광고를 결정한다. 이를 다수의 사용자에게 즉각적인 반응을 필요로 하는 디지털 사이니지에 적용했다.
