Development of Intelligent Robot Control Technology By Electroocculogram Analysis (안전도 신호 분석을 통한 지능형 로봇 제어 기법의 개발)

  • In this research, EOG(Electrooculogram) signal was analyzed to predict the subject's intention using a fuzzy classifier. The fuzzy classifier is built automatically using the EOG data and evolutionary algorithms. An assistant robot manipulator in redundant configuration has been developed, which operates according to the EOG signal classification results. For automatic fuzzy model construction without any experts' knowledge, an evolutionary algorithm with the new representation scheme, design of adequate fitness function and evolutionary operators, is proposed. The proposed evolutionary algorithm can optimize the number of fuzzy rules, the number of fuzzy membership functions, parameter values for the each membership functions, and parameter values for the consequent parts. It is shown that the fuzzy classifier built by the proposed algorithm can classify the EOG data efficiently. Intelligent motion planner that consists of several neural networks are used for control of robot manipulator based upon EOG classification results.

  • The existing conventional motion controller does not perform well in the presence of nonlinear properties, uncertain factors, and servo lag phenomena of industrial actuators. Hence, a feasible and effective fuzzy self-tuning proportional integral derivative (PID) and feed-forward control scheme is introduced to overcome these problems. In this design, a fuzzy tuner is used to tune the PID parameters resulting in the rejection of the disturbance, which achieves better performance. Then, both velocity and acceleration feed-forward units are added to considerably reduce the tracking error due to servo lag. To verify the capability and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme, the hardware configuration includes digital signal processing (DSP) which plays the main role, dual-port RAM (DPRAM) to guarantee rapid and reliable communication with the host, field-programmable gate array (FPGA) to handle the task of the address decoder and receive the feed-back encoder signal, and several peripheral logic circuits. The results from the experiments show that the proposed motion controller has a smooth profile, with high tracking precision and real-time performance, which are applicable in various manufacturing fields.

  • In this study, active vibration control for a flexible cantilever beam was performed by using the intelligent control technique. The intelligent control method which integrating the back propagation algorithm and the fuzzy inference technique was proposed and its performance was examined. The proposed control algorithm for the flexible cantilever beam was verified via computer simulation of active vibration control. Furthermore, the control system and its efficiency were investigated via experiments on active vibration control by the intelligent control technique without a digital signal processing device.

  • We propose a real-time post processing of nonlinear amplified signal to improve voice recognition in remote talk. In the previous research, we have found the nonlinear amplification has unique advantage for both the voice activity detection and the sound localization in remote talk. However, the original signal becomes distorted due to its nonlinear amplification and, as a result, the rest of sequence such as speech recognition show less satisfactorily results. To remedy this problem, we implement a linearization algorithm to recover the voice signal's linear characteristics after the localization has been done.

  • A sensor working in outdoor may generate some faulty signal owing to dust and high temperature. This paper describes an intelligent sensor system and controller which has a reconstruction mechanism for faulty signal. The faulty signals are dievided into two types as linear distortion and non linear distortion, respectively. The linear distorted signal is due to dust, and non linear distorted signal is due to physical breakdown of sensor or high temperature. These distorted signal have been reconstructed by the proposed method based on polynomial regression method and principal component analysis approach.. The proposed method has been applied to sun tracking system working in outdoor. For a robust and precision control of sun tracker, a fuzzy controller was also proposed. The fuzzy controller controls the tracker by using the collected sensor signal. The tolerance of the position control is within 1.5 degree. To show the validity of the developed system, some experiments in the field were illustrated.

  • Traffic congestion has caused issues in various forms such as the environment and economy. Recently, an intelligent transport system (ITS) using artificial intelligence (AI) has been focused so as to alleviate the traffic congestion problem. In this paper, we propose a reinforcement learning-based traffic signal control algorithm that can smooth the flow of traffic while reducing discomfort levels of drivers and pedestrians. By applying the proposed algorithm, it was confirmed that the discomfort levels of drivers and pedestrians can be significantly reduced compared to the existing fixed signal control system, and that the performance gap increases as the number of roads at the intersection increases.

  • An intelligent system which is an integration of multi-functional instrumentation (MFI) and a neural network is discussed. According to some experiments of temperature and wind velocity it is clear that this system can learn the data structure of two parameters above. So it makes good performances for estimations of non-sample data.

  • This paper discusses a fitness of the control on intersection using fuzzy analytic hierachy process. The validity of control of traffic signal on intersection is the fitness of phase and cycle on the intersection. The validity of the controller is cleared by the comparison of the delay time of vehicle. Fuzzy analytic hierachy process clears the grade of validity of the fixed cycle time controller and adaptive fixed cycle time and fuzzy trafic controller and proposes a new control type a traffic signal by this fuzzy analytic hierachy process.

  • In this paper we implement a robot system consisted of mobile tole robot to be controlled by client through web browser Newly Internet is connected to all network of the whole world. If client uses the network like this, client can control direction of a robot that is selected in free place. In this study, system is embodied in using robot that can move freely in plan place and cod camera that can grab robot image. System transmit image data of cod camera to java server that is placed in web server of internet that is used by client. Java server display incoming data in home page using java applet. Then web browser offer robot image to client and client send remote control signal to robot. Control signal is transmitted to robot by java server and robot receiving signal moves toward direction wanted by client.

Intelligent Traffic Light Control using Fuzzy Method (퍼지 기법을 이용한 지능형 교통 신호 제어)

  • In this paper, we propose an intelligent signal control method based on fuzzy logic applicable in real time. We design membership functions to model occupied time and the number of vehicles for each lane. A priority for each signal phase is computed by the popular Max-Min fuzzy inference based on control rules and membership degrees of prepared two functions at any given time. A tie breaking scheme is considering weighted sum of the rate of occupied time per number of vehicles in that block and the standard deviation of these blocks. Only a signal phase with the highest priority is opened and all others are closed and the duration of the phase opening is computed proportional to the rate of number of weighting vehicles in that signal per all weighted vehicles. The simulation result shows that the proposed method is more efficient than the static control in all simulation conditions in $2{\times}3$ experimental designs with the number of vehicles in intersection and congestion degrees that have all three levels.
