  • This study proposes a remote monitoring of patients and emergency notification system with a camera and pulse wave sensor for U-Healthcare. The proposed system is a server client model based U-Healthcare system which consists of wireless clients that have micro-controller, embedded-board for patient status monitoring and a remote management server. The remote management server observes the change of pulse wave data individually in real-time sent from the clients that is to be remote-monitored based on the pulse wave data stored by users and divides them into caution section and emergency section. When the pulse wave data of a user enters an emergency situation, the administrator can make a decision based on the real-time image information and pulse rate variability. When the status of the monitored patient enters the emergency section, the proposed U-healthcare system notifies the administrator and relevant institutions. An experiment was conducted to demonstrate the pulse wave recognition of the proposed system.

  • The general Wi-Fi network connection structure is that a number of IoT (Internet of Things) sensor nodes are directly connected to one AP (Access Point) node. In this structure, the range of the network that can be established within the specified specifications such as the range of signal strength (RSSI) to which the AP node can connect and the maximum connection capacity is limited. To overcome these limitations, multiple middleware bridge technologies for dynamic scalability and load balancing were studied. However, these network expansion technologies have difficulties in terms of the rules and conditions of AP nodes installed during the initial network deployment phase In this paper, an intelligent edge computing IoT device is developed for constructing an intelligent autonomous cluster edge computing network and applying it to real-time road danger context aware and notification system through an intelligent risk situation recognition algorithm.

  • In this paper, an intelligent notification system has been presented. The system operates on both wired and wireless internet. When a new message has been uploaded in a bulletin board systems(BBS) on HTTP web server, it sends the same message to their cellular phones of all members of a given group at the same time via SMS(Short Message Service). In addition, on reading SMS message, those who read them respond to a WAP server using pulling technique via wireless internet. Therefore, the HTTP server does know the members who did not read the message yet. Two different web servers, the HTTP server and the WAP server, running on a single system has been implemented. They share the single database which covers al1 related information about the BBS. The set of experiments shows that the notification system works well as we have expected Thus, we conclude that the proposed system that operates on both wired and wireless internet is the one of successful model for such environments.

  • Smartphone schedule management applications are widely used in mobile environment with the help of their effective user interface and high user accessibility. Unfortunately, since the applications do not consider frequent context changes like user status or location, they can not support schedule management which reflects the changes. In this paper, we propose an intelligent notification service which gathers context information of users such as location and status, and actively provides appropriate services according to the context information. Based on the notification service, we also present a smartphone application for smart schedule management. Using the GPS sensor of a smartphone, the service can be aware of the status of the user through location and schedule information of the user. Also, according to the changed contexts, it provides proactive notifications to user.

  • In this study, the temperature control device was designed for the study in order to detect the output in frequency of temperature, and the study confirmed accurate temperature values treated systemically by using expanded A/D converting Technology. The control technology of functional sensor included the output error Detection. For the future study, it is necessary to implement a control device by building multiple circuits integrally with different types of sensors such as a automatically and intelligent notification function sensors.

  • This paper is concerned with automatic telemetering system which reads the consumed quantity of electricity, gas, and piped water. The existing metering method such that a meterman visits households and directly reads meters can cause several problems, including violation of privacy and the possibility of criminal accident, as well the inefficiency in viewpoint of system operation and rate notification. In this paper, we propose a new automatic telemetering and rate notification system, in which the system reads several meters at remote locations and notifies the rates to the customer's cellular phone with short message service(SMS). The proposed system has been developed by using CDMA mobile communication modules and personal computers. This system can operate only with cellular communication network even without wired-internet facilities. In particular, the developed system can provide home security and convenience as well as cost reduction, and thus be applied to intelligent home networks.

  • Advanced wireless network and sensor technologies are capable of collecting information such as temperature, humidity, weight, and location about objects at real time in logistics area. Besides, users want to be notified of contextual information about interest of objects whenever they want it and wherever they want it. To satisfy these requirements, applications should collect and analyze contextual information at real time, and must support a service that can notify it to wanted users. Event-based service is one of the way to satisfy these requirement of users. In this paper, we design an event notification system focused on location- and RFID-based logistics area. To do this, we present XML-based event expression model, ECA-based profile definition model, and an algorithm that has high scalability by distinguishing event filtering in two steps. Based on these designs, our implemented system can apply to not only logistics area but also intelligent traffic control system based on RFID or GPS devices.

  • Driven by the growing number of the mobile subscribers, efficient channel resource management plays a key role for provisioning multimedia service in the next generation personal communication systems. To reuse limited channel resources, diminishing the coverage areas of cells seems to be the ultimate solution. Thus, however, causes more handover events. To provide seamless connection environment for mobile terminals and applications, this article presents a novel handover scheme called the intelligent channel reservation (ICR) scheme, which exploits the location prediction technologies to accurately reserve channel resources for handover connections. Considering the fact that each mobile terminal has its individual mobility characteristic, the ICR scheme utilizes a channel reserving notification procedure (CRNP) to collect adequate parameters for predicting the future location of individual mobile terminals. These parameters will be utilized by the handover prediction function to estimate the expected handover blocking rate and the expected number of idle channels. Based on the handover prediction estimations, a cost function for calculating the damages from blocking the handover connections and idling channel resources, and a corresponding algorithm for minimizing the cost function are proposed. In addition, a guard channel decision maker (GCDM) determines the appropriate number of guard channels. The experimental results show that the ICR scheme does reduce the handover-blocking rate while keeping the number of idle channels small.
