FTOG-based Recovery Services Through Replicated Objects (중복 객체를 통한 FTOG 모델 기반의 회복서비스)

  • This paper proposes a FTOG(Fault-Tolerant Object Group)-based recovery services through replicated objects. In the distributed system, the fault of the object component may cause an entire system failure, evidently raising the service breakdowns. Therefore, this paper proposes recovery services with the replicated objects in case of fault occurrences. Moreover, applying the FTOG model to a virtual home network simulation, we verify the consistency maintenance and the service reliability of the proposed model.

  • Ubiquitous services are high duality and differentiated services which are provided for users by recognizing the context of users and environmental conditions actively. In this case, context-aware middleware is one of the most important technologies required to implement the ubiquitous services. In this paper, we propose a method for providing ubiquitous services in a specific user space effectively and monitoring human bio-signal sensors. That is, the design and implementation of intelligent home service middleware and monitoring human bio-signal sensor based on context awareness is discussed here. Context information from various sensors is gathered, and suitable services are inferred and provided to users by the middleware system. In our approach, user services can be modelled easily by using facts and rules, and the system can be extended easily to support various ubiquitous services other than intelligent home services also. The system can be integrated with external applications and legacy systems effectively by using various protocols such as RMI, socket and HTTP, XML and Zigbee etc. We have designed and evaluated various facts and rules for intelligent home services in real environments. Functionality evaluation with the system shows that ubiquitous services can be provided to users effectively in a home environment.

Development of an Intelligent Security Robot System for Home Surveillance (가정용 지능형 경비 로봇 시스템 개발)

  • A security robot system named EGIS-SR is a mobile security robot through one of the new growth engine project in robotic industries. It allows home surveillance through an autonomous mobile platform using onboard cameras and wireless security sensors. EGIS-SR has many sensors to allow autonomous navigation, hierarchical control architecture to handle lots of situations in monitoring home surveillance and mighty networks to achieve unmanned security services. EGIS-SR is tightly coupled with a networked security environment, where the information of the robot is remotely connected with the remote cockpit and patrol man. It achieved an intelligent unmanned security service. The robot is a two-wheeled mobile robot and has casters and suspension to overcome a doorsill. The dynamic motion is verified through $ADAMS^{TM}$ simulation. For the main controller, PXA270 based hardware platform based on linux kernel 2.6 is developed. In the linux platform, data handling for various sensors and the localization algorithm are performed. Also, a local path planning algorithm for object avoidance with ultrasonic sensors and localization using $StarGazer^{TM}$ is developed. Finally, for the automatic charging, a docking algorithm with infrared ray system is implemented.

  • Smart homes are expected to offer various intelligent services by recognizing the residents' life pattern, health, and feeling. One of the key issues for realizing the smart home is how to detect the locations of residents. Currently, the research effort is focused on two approaches: terminal-based and non-terminal-based method. The terminal-based method employs a type of device that should be carried by the resident while the non-terminal-based method has no such device. This paper presents a novel non-terminal-based approach using an array of pyroelectric infrared sensors (PIRs) that can detect residents. The feasibility of the system is evaluated experimentally on a test bed.

  • Recently, public home have used a more than two computer connected with network, and several home appliances using independently with internet or network are developing to be related closely with the network. Therefore, the home utilized for a simple terminal of the global network in the past is being expanded to another part of the sub network. For a variety of connecting home-area protocols with the existing existing network, we require a new Residential Gateway(RG) that does not only make the home-area network operating in the sub network but also connects to the external network. In this paper, RG has intrinsic limits against flexible service due to IP address assignment and hardware capacity. In order to solve this problem in the RG, we propose a Management Server(MS). The MS that offers the integrated managements and control services for a variety of devices connected the RG in the home-area. It can not only solve the dynamic IP address assigning problem but also assigns private IP addresses to the home network devices through the Network Address Translation(NAT). It also provides somewhat useful functions for the home network and the RG for other additional services. <중략> The MS is using a SNMP protocol for managing the RG in the domain, a polling method of the MS and the RG compose a sequence polling method, a polling method using a multi-process and a multi-thread. In this paper, we introduce a problem with polling method separately, show a polling method between the MS and the RG using a multi-thread.

  • Recent ubiquitous computing environments increasingly impact on our lives using the current technologies of sensor network and ubiquitous services. In this paper, we propose ubiquitous architectural framework for ubiquitous sleep aid service(UbiSAS) in the subset of ubiquitous computing for refreshing of human's sleep. And we examine technical feasibility. Human can recover his health through refreshing sleep from fatigue. Ubiquitous architectural framework for UbiSAS in digital home offers agreeable sleeping environment and improves recovery from fatigue. So we present new concept of ubiquitous architectural framework dissolving stress. Specially, we apply context to context-aware framework module. This context is transferred to context adaptive inference engine which has service invocation function in intelligent agent module. Ubiquitous architectural framework for UbiSAS using context adaptive rule inference engine without user intervention is technical issue. That is to say, we should take sleep comfortably during our sleeping. And sensed information during sleeping is changed to context-aware information. This presents significant information in context adaptive rule inference engine for UbiSAS. This information includes all sleeping state during sleeping in context-aware computing technique. So we propose more effective and most suitable ubiquitous architectural framework using context adaptive rule inference engine for refreshing sleep in this paper.

Home Energy Management System for Interconnecting and Sensing of Electric Appliances

  • Due to the variety of household electric devices and different power consumption habits of consumers at present, general home energy management (HEM) systems suffer from the lack of dynamic identification of various household appliances and a unidirectional information display. This study presented a set of intelligent interconnection network systems for electric appliances, which can measure the power consumption of household appliances through a current sensing device based on OSGi platform. The system establishes the characteristics and categories of related electric appliances, and searches the corresponding cluster data and eliminates noise for recognition functionality and error detection mechanism of electric appliances by applying the clustering algorithm. The system also integrates household appliance control network services so as to control them according to users' power consumption plans or through mobile devices, thus realizing a bidirectional monitoring service. When the system detects an abnormal operating state, it can automatically shut off electric appliances to avoid accidents. In practical tests, the system reached a recognition rate of 95%, and could successfully control general household appliances through the ZigBee network.

  • 일반적으로 홈 게이트웨이는 가정 내 PC와 인터넷 가전 모두에 대해 공유 인터넷 액세스가 가능하도록 통신 서비스와 홈게이트웨이 자체의 보안 및 홈 오토메이션과 같은 서비스를 제공한다. 또한 추가로 미래에 제공되어야 할 여러 서비스를 위해서는 현재 개발되는 홈 게이트웨이는 모듈식 아키텍쳐를 기반으로 해야 할 것이다. 이와 같은 홈 게이트웨이를 구현하기 위해서는 독창적이고 확장 가능한 하드웨어 플랫폼은 물론, 운영체제 및 애플리케이션의 업그레이드와 새로운 서비스의 배치를 가능케 해주는 강건한 파일 시스템을 포함해야 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 위와 같은 홈 게이트웨이 기능 및 새로운 서비스 추가 및 관리에 용이한 개방형 표준인 OSGi(Open Service Gateway Initiative)를 기반으로 한 홈게이트웨이를 설계하고, 본 플랫폼을 통한 댁내 가전제어를 위해 센서네트워크와 연동하여 실제 댁내에 부착된 액추에이터 센서노드를 제어할 수 있도록 개발했다. 가전제어를 위한 S/W는 OSGi 상에서 서비스 번들로 개발하였으며 언제 어디에서든 해당 번들을 다운받아 홈 제어가 가능하다.

  • Nowadays, Dynamic lighting control and management skills are studied and used. If the system which is to manage multiple intelligent spot applied ubiquitous service technology is built with decision making and used in the complex intelligent space like a apartment then will improve energy efficiency and provide comfortability in optimal conditions. To solve this problem distributed autonomous control middleware and energy management system which process data gathering by zigbee mesh network and search proper services to save energy by the existing state of things is necessary. In paper we designed DDLEMS (Distributed Dynamic Lighting Energy Management System) that is to service duplex communication embedded by software based home server platform to provide mobile services in the smart place and support decision making about energy saving to the best use of wireless censor node and controled network, energy display devices.

  • The necessity of intelligent surveillance system is gradually considered seriously from the space where the security is important. In this paper, we embodied unmanned intelligent system by developing embedded mobile robot based on images and sounds tracking. For objects tracking, we used block-matching algorithm and for sound source tracking, we calculated time differences and magnitude dissimilarities of sound. And we demonstrated the superiority of intruder tracking algorithm through the embodiment of Pan-Tilt camera and sound source tracking module using system, Network camera and mobile robot using system and mobile robot using system. By linking security system, the suggested system can provide some interfacing functions for the security service of the public facilities as well as that of home.
