Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of herbal medicine during the Western medicine therapy in adenomyosis. Methods: The author searched 5 electronic databases and search keywords were 'Adenomyosis' and 'Herbal Medicine'. We included randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs) using herbal medicine therapy combined Western medicine for adenomyosis patients. Results: The author selected 12 studies. The systematic review of the 12 trials indicated that herbal medicine therapy integrated Western medicine therapy was more effective than Western medicine therapy alone. Conclusions: The herbal medicine therapy combined Western medicine for adenomyosis patients seems to improve pain relief and improvement of illness from this research. However, this result should be taken cautiously by unclear risk of bias. More clinical research will be needed to standardize the results of this study through herbal medicine.
Purpose: This study was done to examine the effect of an integrated care service which included a combination of oriental and western care on health outcomes in elderly patients with degenerative arthritis. Methods: A prospective comparative design was used. Data were collected from May 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009 from 85 elderly patients with degenerative arthritis in the lower extremities who were followed in a hospital out-patient department for 8 weeks. The integrated care service group (n=36) received a combination of physical therapy, acupuncture, western medicines or herbal medicines, and the western care group (n=49) received physical therapy or western medicines. Functional independence, walking speed, rotation balance, pain intensity, service satisfaction and total medical costs for the two groups were compared at 8 weeks. Results: Functional independence (t=2.14, p=.036) and walking speed (t=2.51, p=.014) improved significantly in the integrated care group while pain intensity improved significantly in the western care group (t=3.35, p=.002). The integrated care group reported higher scores for service satisfaction (t=2.09, p=.041) and higher medical costs than the western care group (t=2.15, p=.035). Conclusion: The results suggest that integrated care services are effective modalities to improve mobility and quality of life for elders with degenerative arthritis.
Hydrotherapy is aimed at evoking short-term and long-term adaptation-mechanisms of patients. This means that a patient should be able to adapt to the changed environment. both mentally and physically. Hydrotherapy is widely used to treat patients with generalised rheumatic discases. Hydrotherapy may be applied as a single therapy. in combination with other therapeutic interventions or as one pan of a complex series of stimuli as e.g. during spa therapy. A treatment regimen in water is constructed according to the same rules as dry land exercise. However, methods specifically designed or adjusted for hydrotherapy can be used. The Halliwick is suitale in particular to facilitate arthrokinetic reactions as a part of training postural stability. The Bad Ragaz Ring is a hydortherapy modification of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation. Patterns of arms. logs and trunk are used to increase muscle function and flexibility. Other techniques are applicable in water too: mobilization and manipulation techniques of the joints can be integrated in hydrotherapeutic methods. The continuous research is needed for many interesting issues of hydrotherapy in new future.
Cerebral palsy is a nonprogressive brain disorder occurring during gestation, parturition or neonatal period with resultant abnormality of posture or other deficits. Recently the early diagnosis and early treatment has been emphasized in management of cerebral palsy. We studied 1 cerebral palsied child that having been treated anticonvulsive therapy in Sangge-Baek Hospital(상계 백병원) for 1 year. We improved the patient's general condition through dispensing Herb-Med(養胃湯 加味), thus we could reduce the antiepileptic & Sedative drug dose simultaneously controlling convulsion. In this point, we could find the possibility of east-west integrated medicine's cooperation and the fact that Herb-Med could be helpful to controlling convulsion.
Physical therapists use assumptions about motor control in every aspect of their work in treating stroke patients. An understanding of the recovery process after stroke, some neural mechanism of recovery and therapeutic model is critical factor for physical therapist to evaluate and obtain a higher final stage of recovery. The purpose of this article was to review the recovery process after stroke, some neural mechanism of recovery, the role of rehabilitation in the process of recovery, therapeutic model and its limitation. This article will help understanding of recovery process. evaluation, and treatment of the stroke patients. Each therapeutic method consists of a different set of assumptions and they are not completely independent of one another. Therefore specializing in any techniques of physical therapy will not be enough to treat stroke, so we are in need of integrated approach and objective measurement instrument to adequately evaluate and treat stroke patients.

In western medicine, excitotoxicity inhibition, immunomodulation, oxidative stress suppression, supplement of NTFs and stem cell therapy are studied with neuroprotection therapy of glaucoma. 2. Treatment of glaucoma in TCM and Korean medicine are associated with liver(肝) and kidney(腎).Conclusions : Korean medical approaches on neuroprotection therapy of glaucoma can be significant, and further studies are needed to research.
Background: Integrative medical research is needed to explore the development direction of new yoga therapy. Purposes: A systematic literature review is conducted to analyze the current status of clinical research on yoga therapy into scientific categories, and to explore the content and development direction of yoga therapy. Methods: Through electronic databases such as RISS, NDSL, DBpia, e-article, and KISS, 530 domestic academic papers were selected from 2010 to 2018 and the final 28 were extracted based on PRISMA guidelines. Results: As a result of the study, in terms of quality, it remained at 3b of the CEBM level of evidence, and in terms of quantity, the number of experimental groups in the entire clinical study was 288, so domestic clinical studies of yoga therapy are insufficient. It was found that 80% of yoga therapy was exercise therapy focusing on asana movements. This seems to be due to a lot of researchers in the field of physical education. Conclusions: These results indicate that understanding and practice of the Ashtanga-yoga's training system and Pancha-kosha theory from the perspective of integrative medicine are necessary. In other words, yoga therapy is required to develop into an integrated mind-body therapy program that integrates holistic healing yoga based on individual mental and physical constitution, meditation therapy based on Ayurveda, and exercise therapy.

Results. When group play therapy are applied on children with developmental disabilities, it was found that there was improvement of social skills including problem solving, emotional expression, sense of order and self-confidence. Conclusions. Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of sensory integration therapy and home program intervention on the visual attention of children with Down syndrome. Methods : This study used a single subject design for one child with Down syndrome, Sensory integrated treatment intervention was conducted once a week for 16 weeks, and home programs were conducted four times a week for 16 weeks. Changes in visual attention were measured after intervention in the target child. Results : After the intervention, the average values of object gaze, object horizontal pursuit, and object vertical pursuit time increased compared with the baseline period. In object gaze, object horizontal pursuit, and object vertical pursuit, a section higher than the ±2 standard deviation of the baseline period was observed during the intervention period. Conclusion : This study confirmed that the combination of sensory integrated therapy and home program intervention improved visual attention and visual perception in children with Down syndrome, and it is meaningful that it presented an effective intervention method.
