Multidimensional Hydrodynamic and Water Temperature Modeling of Han River System (한강 수계에서의 다차원 시변화 수리.수온 모델 연구)

  • Han River is a complex water system consisting of many lakes. The water quality of Lake Paldang is significantly affected by incoming flows, which are the South and North branches of the Han River, and the Kyungan Stream. In order to manage the water quality of the Lake Paldang, we should consider the entire water body where the incoming flows are included. The objectives of this study are to develop an integrated river and lake modeling system for Han River system using a multidimensional dynamic model and evaluate the model's performance against field measurement data. The integrated model was calibrated and verified using field measurement data obtained in 2007 and 2008. The model showed satisfactory performance in predicting temporal variations of water level, flow rate and temperature. The Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) for water temperature simulation were $0.88{\sim}2.13^{\circ}C$ (calibration period) and $1.05{\sim}2.00^{\circ}C$ (verification period) respectively. And Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) for water temperature simulation were 1089~0.98 (calibration period) and 0.90~0.98 (verification period). Utilizing the validated model, we analyzed the spatial and temporal distributions of temperature within Han River system. The variations of temperature along the river reaches and vertical thermal profiles for each lakes were effectively simulated with developed model. The suggested modeling system can be effectively used for integrated water quality management of water system consisting of many rivers and lakes.

An Integrated ECAD Library System for Standard Part Management in a Heterogeneous ECAD Environment

  • In this study, we propose an integrated CAD(Computer Aided Design) library database in a heterogeneous commercial ECAD(Electronic CAD) environment. To effectively solve engineering problems focused on BOM data extraction we use a software system called schematic capture and company-wide standard electronic part information loaded on different commercial ECADs. We unify many commercial ECADs into one schematic capture and a variety of PCB(Printed Circuit Board) design tools. For this purpose we develope a model for linking CAD symbol library with company-wide standard part information. We also develope a schematic design data conversion scheme and show how to extract PBA level BOM data using our customized schematic capture. This system is being operated in an X-Window based engineering work station and commercial RDBMS base.

Personalized Healthcare System for Chronic Disease Care in Cloud Environment

  • The rapid increase in the number of patients with chronic diseases is an important public healthcare issue in many countries, which accelerates many studies on a healthcare system that can, whenever and wherever, extract and process patient data. A patient with a chronic disease conducts self-management in an out-of-hospital environment, particularly in an at-home environment, so it is important to provide integrated and personalized healthcare services for effective care. To help provide effective care for chronic disease patients, we propose a service flow and a new cloud-based personalized healthcare system architecture supporting both at-home and at-hospital environments. The system considers the different characteristics of at-hospital and at-home environments, and it provides various chronic disease care services. A prototype implementation and a predicted cost model are provided to show the effectiveness of the system. The proposed personalized healthcare system can support cost-effective disease care in an at-hospital environment and personalized self-management of chronic disease in an at-home environment.

The study on the construction of IWSDB for National Defense CALS (국방 CALS를 위한 IWSDB 구축에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to develop an approach to construct IWSDB for National Defense CALS. Along with the introduction of Korean version of CALS conception, it is essential to analyze the national defense system with a new information technology for the construction of IWSDB. A long-tenn goal of CALS is to construct fully Integrated Data Environment (IDE) and establish IWSDB for the application of CALS conception to the life cycle management of weapon system. IWSDB is a set of databases that contain digital data. It supports common interface of data objects and databases throughout the life cycle management of weapon system, including design, engineering, analysis, manufacturing, operation, and logistics. etc. The goal of this study is threefold. First, we propose a right direction for the establishment of Integrated Data Environment. For the integrated database technology, we use the five schema architecture and the distributed object oriented technology that will lead to the "share of data." Second, we present the most effective IWSDB architecture for defense CALS, which will provide the efficient data sharing by business process modeling. Third, we suggest that IWSDB should be constructed based on the process which is related to the acquisition and logistics of weapon system for the national defense, and at the same time it should be implemented with GITIS for government agencies and CITIS for the industries in order to obtain the efficient data sharing.

  • The adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) based automatic control system framework was proposed for integrated environment management of ubiquitous plant factory which can collect information of crop cultivation environment and monitor it in real-time by using various environment sensors. Installed wireless sensor nodes, based on the sensor network, collect the growing condition's information such as temperature, humidity, $CO_2$, and the control system is to monitor the control devices by using ANFIS. The proposed automatic control system provides that users can control all equipments installed on the plant factory directly or remotely and the equipments can be controlled automatically when the measured values such as temperature, humidity, $CO_2$, and illuminance deviated from the decent criteria. In addition, the better quality of the agricultural products can be gained through the proposed automatic control system for plant factory.

우리나라 토양환경정보관리체계 구축방안

  • The objective of this research was to develop a framework of the Soil Environment Information Management System (SEIMS). In this study, we found that the SEIMS needs to be consisted of three sub-systems (i.e., information input system, DB system, and opening to the public system), which is operated on the Web-GIS basis. Also, we suggested structure and detailed items for each sub-system which are acceptable under the basis of current legal and institutional system. Furthermore, we made several suggestions for future-oriented system. Further researches need to be pursued for developing efficiently the SEIMS, such as 1) DB standards for the SEIMS, 2) guidelines for each cleanup phase, 3) improvement of the SEIMS for groundwater quality, and 4) integrated SEIMS for both soil and groundwater system.

  • Conventional disaster resources management systems among the several institutes are not mutually connected. In case of NDMS(National Disaster Management System), the data of the system is confined to the resources of the local governments and not connected with any other disaster resource management systems. Therefore, it is difficult to find the needed resources, when the large scale disaster is occurred. In this paper, we developed the integrated model of the distributed resources management framework considering the current resource management environment among the institutes. It is loosely coupling model under the centralized system, called IDRM(Integrated Disaster Resource Manager). The system will be verified with the test sites including Korea Expressway Corporation, JeonBuk local government, and Korea Construction Equipment Association. Via the field testing, the system will be the base of the real available system in the future.

Studies on Cropping System of Upland Crop for the Sustainable Agriculture. (환경 농업 실천을 위한 밭작물 작부체계의 적용 조사)

  • This study was carried out to find out basic data of the various cropping systems controlling the soil environment by analysing the historical literature, the changes of cropping system and the expected income of cropping system of the upland crop. The results were summerized as follows ; 1. According to the literature of 'Gumyangjoprok' and 'Sanlimgyungjae', published on 15 to 16 century in Korea, the cropping system of barley, soybean, red bean, and millet, etc. was done together both the 'kunkyong' and 'kanjong'. 2. Since 1970s the staple food grains had been self-sufficient and the setting up of the rice seedbed became faster. However, the cropping system of the rice after barley was rapidly fallen from 83.7% to 4.0% in 1990s. Furthermore, the food production and the rate of arable land utilization were also rapidly fallen. 3. The most prospective cropping system is considered the soybean after barley, and root & tuber crops considering with the soil environment. 4. The expecting income of cropping system ranged from 940,000won to l,970,000won per 10a but that of barley after soybean cropping for 610,000won, and that of barley-after mung bean cropping for 613,000won. 5. The maintenance and the preservation of agricultural environment shall become positive by practicing the Integrated Nutrients Management(INM), and the Integrated Pest Management(IPM) with control using of fertilizer and pesticide presenting the excessive loads to the soil environment.

Development of Integrated Data Management Prototype System for Aviation Accident and Incident Investigation (국내 항공사고조사를 위한 항공사고 통합 데이터 관리시스템의 프로토 타입 개발)

  • In this paper, It proposed the development of integrated data management's prototype system for aviation accident and incident system. With the recent development of the aviation accident investigation equipment, accident investigation system should collect and manage the various types of jpg, avi, and wav data files. However, the ECCAIRS system does not have a separate database for managing the various generated data during the accident investigation. And the Korea aviation accident management system also has the same problem. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the aviation accident report system of major foreign countries and prepare a method to apply it to the domestic environment. Through the prototype of the integrated data management system, we confirmed the performance through inputting the existing data and the recently investigated data. We will use this result as basic data for completion of final integrated data management system.

  • With the continuous effort to make business management more efficient, companies have started to utilize smart workplaces and the incorporation of mobile devices. Furthermore, big data processing, using Database as a Service (DBaas), is also being researched for integration. Similarly. mobile cloud can be utilized to allow for data sharing among employees. In this paper, in order to solve the issue of efficiency in business management, a collaboration system for data sharing using mobile cloud environment is explored. The proposed system, looks to benefit the increased integration of environment and corporate public through use of standardized data, in a design capable of efficient integrated management system.
