Purpose: The present study aimed to develop and examine the effectiveness of a pediatric nursing competency-building program for nursing students. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design conducted between October and December 2021. The participants included 40 nursing students (20 each in the experimental and control groups) at a university in a South Korean city. The pediatric nursing competency-building program integrated problem-based learning and simulation into clinical field practice. The experimental group participated in the program, while the control group did not. Data were analyzed using the 𝑥2 test, the independent t-test, and repeated-measures analysis of variance. Results: Pediatric nursing competency and clinical performance showed a greater increase in the experimental group than in the control group. However, the change in problem-solving ability in the experimental group was not significantly different from that in the control group. Conclusion: The pediatric nursing competency-building program effectively improved students' pediatric nursing competency and clinical performance.

Purpose: The current challenges faced by nurses in providing high quality and evidence-based practice (EBP) supported care require profound changes in nursing education. To understand the changes needed to strengthen EBP education, the researchers examined EBP self-efficacy, course needs, barriers, and facilitators for academic faculty and clinical nurse preceptors to teach EBP in undergraduate nursing curricula. Methods: For this study, mixed-method approach was used with survey data collected from 73 academic faculty members from 54 universities. Further, 17 clinical nurse preceptors in three academic hospitals provided qualitative data for exploration of barriers and facilitators to teaching EBP. Data analysis used SPSS/WIN 21.0 and content analysis. Results: Quantitative data showed that although the overall level of self-efficacy among faculty was moderate, the implementation levels were relatively low. Most faculty members agreed with the need to integrate EBP courses into undergraduate nursing curricula. The qualitative data showed that the barriers to teaching EBP were lack of knowledge, skill, and initial investment for teaching EBP; hierarchical, rules-oriented nursing culture; potential learner overloads in processing EBP; limited research dissemination and application. Facilitators were identified as the importance of EBP to the profession of nursing; collaboration in schools and hospitals; and continuing education in teaching/utilizing EBP. Conclusion: The findings indicate that for successful integration of EBP ni nursing education there is a need for faculty training and integrated EBP courses.
The author recommends the creation of a nationwide career guidance program at the national level through the establishment of a long-term cohort, involving collaboration among medical schools nationwide. This cohort would be constructed for the purpose of analyzing correlations from admission to medical school to post-graduate education, facilitating the development of a career guidance program. This will aid in career development through students' self-analysis and competency building. Each medical school should operate a systematic career guidance program. Career guidance for post-graduate major selection should be included in the regular curriculum. Schools are advised to operate student counseling rooms for various career guidance services. For example, medical schools can operate 1:1 career counseling, academic counseling, career guidance surveys, psychological tests, and counseling. It is advisable to establish a mentor-professor system, connect mentor professors, and build a network of experts related to majors to provide immediate support according to students' needs. Professional mentor training should be provided to mentor professors. To provide opportunities for students to experience their career paths in advance, early clinical exposure, long-term integrated clinical practice, community-based clinical practice, participation in student research programs, career fairs, and student internship programs are recommended. In South Korea, it is necessary to systematically operate the internship system and make improvements to facilitate optical career choices. Additionally, considering the significant influence of social factors on students' career choices in South Korea, efforts should be made to identify and address the issues related to these social factors.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to confirm the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for Endometriosis. So providing a clinical basis for abdominal acupuncture treatment helping to develop clinical practice guideline. Methods: Clinical studies applying acupuncture on Endometriosis were searched through Pubmed, China Academic journal (CAJ), Koreanstudies Information Service System (KISS), Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System (OASIS). Interventions and results of the selected clinical studies were analyzed. Results: 8 Clinical studies were finally included according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Those were randomized controlled studies. All of those studies were searched in China Academic journal (CAJ) in Chinese. Interventions of control group were made with simple acupuncture and oral administration of Danazol or herbal medicine. Outcome measurements included Treat effect, Relief in related symptoms, and CA-125. All studies reported statistically significant results on abdominal acupuncture and there were no serious adverse effects. Conclusions: This study suggested abdominal acupuncture has statistically significant treat effect. Thus this treat helps improve quality of life for patients. However the results should be taken cautiously as more clinical studies are needed.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is 1) to explore the general tendency of the herbs or herbal formula for acne treatment in clinical practice 2) and to provide a basis for explaining the principles of acne treatment in Korean Medicine in order to make patients understand more easily based on pharmacological mechanism by analyzing the herbs or herbal formula using for acne treatment in clinical practice. Methods : In the domestic databases (Oriental medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System-OASIS, Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal-KTKP, National Discovery for Science Leader-NDSL, Research Information Sharing Service-RISS), we selected among the papers published using search terms related to "acne". Reports related to sasang constitutional medicine were excluded and a total of 23 papers were finally selected. Results : 29 prescriptions were retrieved from 23 papers. Chungan-tang (淸顔湯) notified formulas ranked first by Cheongsangbangpung- tang (淸上防風湯), Hwangnyeonhaedok-tang (黃連解毒湯), Dangguijakyaksan (當歸芍藥散) and Bipachungpe-eum (枇杷淸肺飮). Commonly used herbs are Forsythiae Fructus (連翹), Scutellariae Radix (黃芩), Gardeniae Fructus (梔子), Ligustici Rhizoma (川芎), and Angelicae Gigantis Radix (當歸). In most patients with inflammatory lesions or excessive flushing, exterior-releasing medicinal (解表藥) and heat-clearing medicinal (淸熱藥) were mainly prescribed for acne treatment, while in patients with acne accompanied hyperkeratinization, Excess sebum secretion, Dysmenorrhea or indigestion, qi-tonifying medicinal (補氣藥) or blood-tonifying medicinal (補血藥) were mainly used. KAGS (Korean Acne Grading System) was the most commonly used method for acne severity assessment. Conclusions : These findings suggest that the herbs or herbal formula for acne treatment in Korean Medicine is prescribed differently according to the cause and symptoms of acne in a unique way for control the whole body balance. Also, our findings could provide a basis for explaining the principles of acne treatment in Korean Medicine in order to make patients understand more easily based on pharmacological mechanism in clinical practice.

Purpose: Breast cancer is becoming increasingly prevalent among young Korean women. During pregnancy, women's concern regarding their breasts heightens. Thus, pregnancy provides a window of opportunity for breast cancer prevention and management along with antenatal care. This study developed and evaluated an integrated breast health program for pregnant women. Methods: This study employed a non-equivalent control group and non-synchronized design (22 experimental, 29 control). Women pregnant for over 28 weeks participated. The two-session integrated breast health program focused on breast management during breastfeeding and education about breast cancer prevention and early screening. Results: During the early postpartum period (within three months after the program), there were statistically significant differences in knowledge and attitude about breast cancer and breast self-examination before and after the program. There were also statistically significant differences in BSE at 6 and 12 months after the program and mammography at 12 months after the program. However, there were no statistically significant differences in clinical breast examination and breast ultrasonography at 6 and 12 months after the program. Conclusion: The integrated breast health management program was effective in increasing knowledge and improving attitudes regarding breast cancer, BSE, and early screening practices among pregnant women. Further studies should consider providing breast health programs differently for each phase of pregnancy and continuing the same after delivery.

Purpose: This practice study was done to describe the process and outcomes of application of Evidence Based Nursing (EBN) Education to nursing management clinical practicum and suggest strategies to diffuse EBN into nursing management education. Methods: Education on the evidence based nursing management process was provided to 65 senior nursing students from a university. Nursing management clinical practicum integrated with EBN. The setting was a five full day-clinical practicum. Group and individual training on EBN process with lectures, small group discussions, conferences, and educational prescription were provided. Outcomes were analyzed using paired t test for 65 participants. Results: Evidence based nursing competency increased significantly showing improvement in understanding EBN, formulating clinical question, searching & classifying the evidence, recognizing level of evidence, considering patient preference, and evaluating outcomes. Nursing students' access and use of evidence based information resource also improved. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the application of EBN to nursing management clinical practicum is effective to improve EBN competency in undergraduate students and should be further applied in nursing education using the systematic strategies.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to explore the levels of self-awareness, assertiveness, life stress, and empathy in nursing students and identify influential factors on empathy. Methods: A predictive correlational design was used. The data was collected by questionnaires from a convenience sample of 319 nursing students in 2014 in Korea. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The mean items scores of self-awareness, assertiveness, life stress, and empathy were 3.49, 3.02, 2.20 and 3.58, respectively, of a possible score ranging from 1 to 5. Empathy significantly differed by gender, grade, satisfaction with nursing as a major, and clinical practice experience. Empathy was correlated with self-awareness and interpersonal relationship stress. As a result of multiple regression analysis, empathy accounted for 20.1% of the variance by self-awareness, gender, clinical practice experience and interpersonal relationship stress. The most important factor was self-awareness, which explained 11.6% of the variation. Conclusion: The results of the study reveal that strengthening self-awareness and relieving interpersonal relationship stress ought to be integrated in developing effective educational intervention for enhancing empathy in nursing students.
Objectives: Intraoral appliances (IOA) are applied in the clinical practice of Korean medicine to improve the balance between yin and yang of the body such as temporomandibular joint balancing medicine. Historical examples of IOA were not well known. This study reports prototype IOA's described in medical classics. Methods: Several medical classics of 12th to 19th centuries were narratively reviewed for prototypical descriptions of IOA's in the context of clinical practice. Results: IOA's in the medical classics reviewed adopted such materials as bamboo, chopsticks, and coins that were adjusted in the height and were used as a temporary IOA's with response of the patient being monitored. IOA's were applied integratively with herbal medicine for diverse complaints such as pain, hearing problem, cough, asthma, and rhinorrhea. Conclusions: Prototype IOA's in the medical classics suggest an individualized, integrative, and holistic principle and usage of IOA's in the tradition of Korean medicine.

In nursing education, there has been efforts for enhancing the quality, with a growing interest in the utilization of digital technologies. In clinical training of nursing curriculum, the emphasis on digital technology is pronounced, as it has the potential to offer learners effective and accessible educational experience while enabling the integrated management of individualized learning outcomes. This study developed a digital nursing education platform, allowing educators and learners to select functionalities based on the educational content and characteristics of the learning tools. Additionally, the user interface was designed to facilitate learners' accurate understanding and execution of assigned tasks and objectives. The detailed design and implementation process of the platform are elaborated and then the validation of its usefulness was provided based on feedback from ten educators who are responsible for diverse subjects. The high usability of the digital nursing practicum education platform was confirmed, with potential implications for significant improvements in learner performance. The potential of this digital platform is to lead to innovative shifts in educational methodologies within the field of integrative nursing education.
