  • In this paper, we propose system access control software that improves the survivability of the naval combat system while maintaining security and stability. The software was improved by improving the operating environment configuration and user authentication process of the system access control software that constitutes the naval combat system, defining the operating environment classification of the naval combat system, and applying a software parallel execution process considering the load rate. Through this, the waiting time required to configure the environment is shortened, providing rapid operation to the operator, and improving the fact that the naval combat system cannot be operated unless the environment configuration is completed even in emergency situations. In order to test the performance, a test environment was created by simulating the existing naval combat system, and the execution time for each operation category was measured and compared. Compared to the existing naval combat system, the execution time of the basic combat system was reduced by about 69.3%, the execution time of the combat system was reduced by about 54.9%, and the execution time of the integrated combat system was confirmed to be reduced by about 8.4%.

  • This paper, UHF band integrated communication antenna for ship communication is designed as a flat type that can be mounted on the integrated mast among integrated communication antennas such as integrated communication, ship communication, broadcasting, and telephone of the ship. The unified mast mounted antenna is an integrated communication antenna applied to the Navy's KDDX, which is an optimized type of integrated communication antenna including a 'composite slope' structure including operational capability, survivability, and improved operability and maintainability. The existing rotary radar and a plurality of monopole-type communication antennas were changed from an irregularly attached shape to the mast exterior to an integrated mast shape including a flat-type integrated communication antenna. the radar reflection area index (RCS) is significantly lowered and compared to overseas products. The goal is to develop a gain broadband antenna.

  • This paper develops a methodology that can be used to quantify the assesment of power improvement effectiveness of corps level C4I system applied to integrated fire operation by adapting Schuzer's C2 theory. This paper first describes how C4I systers can enhance the battle outcome in three way. : (1) Enhanced unit probability of survival; (2) Enhanced unit's individual effectiveness; improved exchange ratios; (3) Improved task force allocations : increased percentage of assets that can be assigned to a given engagement These enhancements are then show to result from improved probability of detection through information sharing; improved survivability and lethality through battle force coordination; and enhanced force allocation and prepositioning through improved timeliness of information(more advanced warning). It demonstrates that well-designed C4I systems can be shown to represent a significant force multiplier on the outcome of the battle.

  • The mast is the highest structure in a naval ship, and various communication and radar antennas are installed to achieve long-range communications and line of sight. The U.S. and European navy currently are adopting integrated mast to their new ships, as it can reduce the Radar Cross Section(RCS) of the new ships and thus improve survivability of the ship. In this paper, when other navies adopt integrated masts on new ships, types of antennas, according to the cases that the antennas are integrated on the integrated mast or not, are analyzed. Also the types of antennas and transmission techniques for the radio communication equipments of the Korean Navy are analyzed in various frequency bands. For adopting an integrated mast on Korean new ships, the effects of the ship RCS according to the types of antennas, the possibility of integration the antennas and the integrated mast and considerations were presented.

  • Multi-domain optical transport networks are not fundamentally interoperable and require an integrated orchestration mechanism and path provision mechanism at the entire network level. In addition, ensuring network survivability is one of the important issues. MPLS-TP (Multi-Protocol Label Switching-Transport Profile) defines various protection/recovery methods as standards, but does not mention how to calculate and select protection/recovery paths. Therefore, an algorithm that minimizes protection/recovery collisions at the optical circuit packet integrated network level and calculates and sets a path that can be rapidly protected/recovered over the entire integrated network area is required. In this paper, we proposed an algorithm that calculates and sets up a path that can be rapidly protected and restored in a T-SDN network composed of multiple ring-mesh topology.

  • In the design of a combat vehicle, various performances such as firepower, mobility and survivability, etc., should be considered. Furthermore, since these performances relate to each other, design framework which can treat an integrated system should be employed to design the combat vehicle. In this paper, we use empirical interior ballistic and 3D combat vehicle analyses for predicting firepower and mobility performances which are developed in previous study (1) integrated performance modeling. In firepower performance, pitch and roll angle by sequential firing are considered. In mobility performance, vertical acceleration after passing through a bump is regarded. However, since there are many design variables such as mass of vehicle, mass of suspension, spring and damping coefficient of suspension and tire, geometric variables of vehicle, etc., for firepower and mobility performance, we utilize analysis of variance and quality function deployment to reduce the number of design variables. Finally, integrated design optimization is carried out for integrated performance such as firepower and mobility.

  • Wild-type V. vulnificus cannot grow using lactose as the sole carbon source or take up the sugar. However, prolonged culture of this species in media containing lactose as the sole carbon source leads to the generation of a spontaneous lactose-utilizing (LU) mutant. This mutant showed strong ${\beta}$-galactosidase activity, whereas the wild-type strain showed a barely detectable level of the activity. A mutant with a lesion in a gene homologous to the lacZ of E. coli in the bacterium no longer showed ${\beta}$-galactosidase activity or generated spontaneous LU mutants, suggesting that the lacZ homolog is responsible for the catabolism of lactose, but the expression of the gene and genes for transport of lactose is tightly regulated. Genetic analysis of spontaneous LU mutants showed that all the mutations occur in a lacI homolog, which is located downstream to the lacZ and putative ABC-type lac permease genes. Consistent with this, a genomic library clone containing the lad gene, when present in trans, made the spontaneous LU mutants no longer able to utilize lactose as the sole carbon source. Taken together with the observation that excessive amounts of exogenously supplemented possible catabolic products of lactose have negative effects on the growth and survivability of V. vulnificus, we suggest that V. vulnificus has evolved to carry a repressor that tightly regulates the expression of lacZ to keep the intracellular toxic catabolic intermediates at a sublethal level.

  • The survivability of warship is assessed by susceptibility, vulnerability and recoverability. Essentially, a vulnerability assessment is a measure of the effectiveness of a warship to resist hostile weapon effects. Considering the shot line and its penetration effect on the warship, present study introduces the procedural aspects of vulnerability assessments of warship. Present study also considers the prediction of penetration damage to a target caused by the impact of projectiles. It reflects the interaction between the weapon and the target from a perspective of vulnerable area method and COVART model. The shotline and tracing calculation have been directly integrated into the vulnerability assessment method based on the penetration equation empirically obtained. A simplified geometric description of the desired target and specification of a threat type is incorporated with the penetration effect. This study describes how to expand the vulnerable area assessment method to the penetration effect. Finally, an example shows that the proposed method can provide the vulnerability parameters of the warship or its component under threat being hit through tracing the shotline path thereby enabling the vulnerability calculation. In addition, the proposed procedure enabling the calculation of the component's multi-hit vulnerability introduces a propulsion system in dealing with redundant Non-overlapping components.
