The Digital Library is the integrated system of Information Retrieval System(IRS) and Database Management system(DBMS). In the Digital Library environment where dynamic query and update processes are required, however, the existing transaction management methods cause the following problems. First, since the traditional consistency criteria is too restrictive, it causes increment of query processing time and cannot guarantee the reflection of recency. Second, query result could be unreliable because the consistency criteria between source data and metadata is not defined. This paper models the access to metadata based on Dublin Core as query transactions and update transactions, and gives the efficient method to manage them. Particularly, this paper describes the consistency criteria of metadata which takes it Into consideration the consistency between the result of query transaction and status of source data in the Digital Library, that is different from the consistency criteria in traditional transaction management. It also presents analysis of the view point of query transaction to reflect recency and proposes metadata management to guarantee recency within metadata consistency.

The study designs and implements a metadata management system for archival and manuscripts control. It has two purposes. First purpose is to organize the collection that the Institution of Korean Church History holds by using the proposed metadata format. Second purpose is to suggest the model and framework for managing the collection. The proposed metadata is designed based on ISAD(G), USMARC AMC, EAD and Ebind, By using the proposed metadata, the collection management system, which allows an integrated retrieval, is implemented. In order to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed system as well as to gain the basic data for the improvement of the proposed system, a questionnaire survey through e-mail is conducted. The evaluation results will be utilized for improving and upgrading the proposed system, and the phrased implementation of applying the system to digital libraries is suggested.

The goal of Semantic Web is to provide efficient and effective semantic search and web services based on the machine-processable semantic information of web resources. Therefore, the process of creating and adding computer-understandable metadata for a variety of web contents, namely, semantic annotation is one of the fundamental technologies for the semantic web. Recently, in order to manage annotation metadata, direct approach for embedding metadata into the document is mainly used in semantic annotation. However, many semantic annotation tools for web documents have been mainly worked with HTML documents, and most of these tools do not support semantic search functionalities using the metadata. In this paper, based on these problems and previous works, we propose the Ontology-based Semantic Annotation tool(OSA) to efficiently support semantic annotation for web documents(such as HTML, PDF). We define a semantic annotation model that represents ontological-semantic information by using RDFS(RDF Schema). Based on XMP(eXtensible Metadata Platform) standard, the model is encoded directly into the document. By using OSA with XMP, user can perform semantic annotation on web documents which are able to keep compatibility for managing annotation metadata. Eventually, the integrated semantic annotation metadata can be used effectively in semantic search for a variety of web contents.

The National Science and Technology Information Center (NDSL) database, which provides academic papers at home and abroad, collects, builds, and manages data collected from various sources. In this study, we analyzed the DB paper schema and DB metadata that are currently constructed and managed to derive an integrated DB schema that can manage the high-value-added papers and manage them efficiently by analyzing distributed DB papers. Also, the final academic information data items were determined through comparison and analysis using the Web of Science and SCOPUS schemas that are currently purchased and possessed. The academic information data items constructed and serviced through this study were summarized into seven papers, authors, abstracts, institutions, themes, journals, and references, and defined as core contents under construction. The integrated DB schema was created through this study, and the results of this study will be used as a basis for constructing the integrated DB collection of high quality academic papers and designing the integrated system.

During the past 10 years, serious game industry has been growing steadily. But the system which could stably and reliably provide metadata information and quality information related to serious game remained unexploited. Existing systems only support the basic management functions of metadata search centered. Therefore, we have developed an integrated system to manage the quality information of serious game as well as to improve the inconvenient details of the existing systems. And we designed quality evaluation elements and quality information supply-methods, and linked up them to the system. Furthermore, we conducted user's satisfaction assessment survey on the use of the system. The advantage of the system is that the system provide a lot of useful information for general users and developers, and support a tool to manage all information related to serious game by easy and convenient method for managers.

Korea Digital Copyright Exchange of Korea Copyright Commission runs and manages copyrighted works and copyright license agreement, as well as assigns Integrated Copyright Number(ICN) to copyrighted works, also offers copyrighted works searching service. Keyword-based searching method based on ICN metadata provides results depending on the inclusion of metadata keyword. However, keyword-based searching method has limitations that cannot provide exact results that users need. Therefore, the essential method of offering exact result is needed. In this paper, we propose the semantic-based searching method about copyrighted works to increase the accuracy of searching results by extending ICN matadata to ontology, and implement the ontology of copyrighted works by defining relation and semantics about metadata elements. In order to compare semantic-based searching based on the ontology of copyrighted works with keyword-based searching method, the search results of each method according to 5 scenarios are presented and the accuracy of each method is compared.

Recently, cutting-edge ICT technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, edge computing, and the Internet of Things have been applied in various fields to create new services and a new digital era. Along with these technological developments, various policies are being implemented in Korea to transform the country from a "Smart City" to a "Platform City". We can create new services and values by linking with the Smart City Integrated Platform and Smart Housing Platform. This paper defines a linkage scenario between a Smart Housing Platform and the Smart 119 Emergency Dispatch Support Service, one of the Smart City Safety Nets. We propose a data transmission protocol and a metadata schema for data exchange between the Smart Housing Platform and the Smart City Integrated Platform to provide the Smart 119 Emergency Dispatch Support Service.

Design of a high-speed railway line requires collaboration of heterogeneous application systems and of engineers with different background. Object-based 3D models with metadata can be a shared information model for the effective collaborative design. In this paper, railway infrastructure information model is proposed to enable integrated and inter-operable works throughout the life-cycle of the railway infrastructures, from planning to maintenance. In order to develop the model, object-based 3-D models were built for a 10km railway among Korea high-speed railway lines. The model has basically three information layers for designers, contractors and an owner, respectively. Prestressed concrete box-girders are the most common superstructure of bridges. The design information layer has metadata on requirements, design codes, geometry, analysis and so on. The construction layer has data on drawings, real data for material and products, schedules and so on. The maintenance layer for the owner has the final geometry, material data, products and their suppliers and so on. These information has its own data architecture which is derived from similar concept of product breakdown structure(PBS) and work breakdown structure(WBS). The constructed RIIM for the infrastructures of the high-speed railway was successfully applied to various areas such as design check, structural analysis, automated estimation, construction simulation, virtual viewing, and digital mock-up. The integrated information model can realize virtual construction system for railway lines and dramatically increase the productivity of the whole engineering process.

This study aims to develop a standard set for metadata to describe E-dissertation. This standard is designed for interoperability and for convenience of integrated information retrieval. This will allow one to improve existing federated searches, create united databases, and provide greater consistency for researchers searching for thesis and dissertation at different institutions. The fourteen meta elements-nine from Dublin Core and four from local need-are proposed along with newly expanded meta elements, 'thesis.degree.name', 'thesis.degree.level', 'thesis.degree.discipline' and 'thesis.degree.grantor.'

Video documents which have audio-visual and other semantics information have complex relationship among media. While user requests for topic retrieval or specific region retrieval increase, it is difficult to meet these requests with the existing design methodology, In order to support the systematic management and the various retrieval capabilities of video document, we must formulate structural and systematic model on metadata using semantics and structural informations which are abstracted automaticallv or manuallv. This paper suggests generic metadata model with which we analyze the characteristics of video document, supports various query types and serves as a generic framework for video applications, we propose the generic integrated management model(GIMM)for generic metadata,, design video documents management system(VDMS) and implement it using GIMM.
