공업계 고등학교 '자동차기관'과목의 흡·배기 장치 정비 수업에서 협동학습이 학업 성취도에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Cooperative Learning on Academic Achievement in the Subject of 'Automobile Engine' in Technical High School)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 공업계 고등학교 자동차과 '자동차 기관'과목의 '흡 배기 장치의 정비'수업에서 함께 배우기 협동 학습과 전통적 수업이 학업 성취도에 미치는 효과를 알아본 것이다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 다음과 같은 영가설을 설정하였다. 협동 학습에 의해 수업을 받은 학생들과 전통적 수업 방법에 의해 수업을 받은 학생들사이에서 (1)교육 목표 영역(인지적 영역, 정의적 영역, 심리 운동적 영역)과 (2)선행 학습 수준에 따른 학업 성취도에는 차이가 없을 것이다. 이와 같은 가설을 검증하기 위하여 공업계 고등학교의 자동차과 2학년 34명을 대상으로 '이질 집단 사후 검사 설계' 모형을 적용하였다. 실험 집단은 함께 배우기 협동 학습으로 학습을 하였고, 통제집단은 전통적 수업 방법으로 학습을 하여 실험 처치 후 사후 검사를 실시하고 유의도 수준 .05(p< .05)에서 t-검증을 실시하여 효과를 검증하였다. 이 연구에서 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교육 목표 영역에 따른 학업 성취도의 향상은 협동 학습으로 학습한 실험 집단이 전통적 수업 방법으로 수업한 통제 집단보다 인지적 영역에서는 효과가 없었으나, 정의적 영역과 심리 운동적 영역에서는 효과적이었다. 둘째, 선행 학습 수준에 따른 학업 성취도의 향상은 협동 학습으로 학습한 실험 집단이 전통적 수업 방법으로 수업한 통제 집단보다 중위 집단에서는 효과가 없었으나, 상위 집단과 하위 집단에서는 효과적이었다.

과체중 대학생에서 저열량식이 또는 저열량식이와 운동병합에 의한 체중 감량 효과 (The effects of weight loss by a low-calorie diet and a low-calorie plus exercise in overweight undergraduate students)

  • Korean undergraduate students attempt to lose weight but often fail due to utilizing ineffective weight loss strategies. Some diet programs have succeeded, yet, they have not provided adequate skills for long-term weight maintenance. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of a low calorie diet and exercise with nutritional education on weight loss, serum lipid profiles, nutrient intakes, and dietary behavior modification in overweight and obese undergraduate students. The subjects in the low calorie diet group (LCD; n = 12) and the low calorie diet plus exercise group (LCDE; n = 13) had the same goal of losing 4 kg during a 12 week program. Nutrient intakes were assessed by the 24 hour recall method. Also, food habits and dietary behaviors were investigated by self-administered questionnaires before and after the weight control program and one month after completing the program. LCD and LCDE groups lowered body weight by 2 kg and 1 kg, respectively, although they decreased calorie intake by 355 and 287 kcal per day compared to intakes prior to the study. Body fat mass decreased in both the LCD and LCDE groups; however, the decrease was greater in the LCDE group. In addition, only the LCDE group increased muscle mass. The LCD group had a slightly better effect in reducing body weight, body fat, and waist circumference than the LCDE group. However, their decrease was reversed after the mid-study check in the LCD group; the reduction was better maintained and decreased more in the LCDE group. However, serum lipid profiles were already in borderline prior to the study; moreover, they were not modified after losing weight. The dietary behavior program helped students to develop better dietary habits. In conclusion, the combination of a low calorie diet and exercise is necessary in order to maintain longer weight loss by increasing muscle mass and decreasing body fat.

초등학교 고학년 대상 영양교육의 효과 평가 (Evaluation of a Nutrition Education Program for Elementary School Children)

  • The purpose of this study was to implement and evaluate the nutrition education program for elementary school children Subjects were 5th graders (n = 142) of an elementary school in Seoul, and 138 children completed four sessions of nutrition education during March-April, 2008. One group pretest-posttest design was used to evaluate the program effectiveness. Anthropometric measurements and measurements on nutrition knowledge, eating attitudes and eating behavior were done before and after education. Data were analyzed using paired t-test, t-test and ${\chi}^2-test$. After completing nutrition education, body mass index (from 19.3 to 18.9), fat mass (from 10.9 kg to 10.1 kg), percent body fat (from 25% to 23.3%) of subjects decreased significantly (p < 0.001). Percentages of overweight or obese children were 24.6% at pretest and decreased to 20.3% at posttest, although it did not reach statistical significance. Total score of nutrition knowledge increased significantly from 11.9 (59.5/100) at pretest to 14.7 (73.5/100) at posttest (p < 0.001). After nutrition education, percentages of correct answers increased significantly in 10 knowledge items out of 20 items. These included items such as desirable weight control, energy requirements for boys, food groups, snack, and function of fat and balanced meals (p < 0.001). Total score of eating attitudes increased significantly from 35.1 to 36.9 (p < 0.001). Attitude of applying nutrition knowledge to daily life (p < 0.001), interest toward nutrition and health (p < 0.001), attitude of moderating food intake (p < 0.01), and attitude toward eating habit and future health (p < 0.05) were significantly different between pretest and posttest. Total score of eating behaviors increased significantly from 46.7 (possible score: 20-60) to 49.5 by nutrition education (p < 0.001). Improvement in eight eating behaviors were noticed after nutrition education. These included eating meals slowly, eat protein foods (p < 0.001), eating breakfast, eating meals regularly, eating meals with diverse foods, having dairy foods, eating foods using plant oils (p < 0.01), and having grains (p < 0.05). Subjects evaluated quite positively in attractiveness of program, understanding of program contents, helpfulness of program in improving nutrition knowledge and meal management. Study results show that the nutrition education program was effective in improving nutrition knowledge, eating attitudes and changing eating behaviors of children. This program can be used in nutrition education of children at school or at public health centers.

성조숙증 여아와 정상발달 여아의 심리사회적 행동특성 비교 (The Comparison of Psycho-Social Behavior Characteristics between Girls with Precocious Puberty and Normal Girls)

  • 본 연구는 성조숙증 여아와 정상 발달 여아의 심리사회적 행동특성에 대한 조사를 실시하여 성조숙증과의 관련성을 파악하고 비교분석하여 성조숙증 예방 및 기초 자료를 제공하고자 함이다. 연구대상 조사기간은 2016년 6월 1일부터 2017년 2월 25일까지였으며, 연구의 대상자는 서울시 소재 어린이전문 H한의원과 S한의원에 성조숙증으로 내원한 환자군 여아 104명과 대조군 A그룹 104명, 지방 군단위 소재 초등학교 여아의 대조군 B그룹 104명으로, 성별과 연령을 짝지은 총 312명과의 비교를 통해 성조숙증 여아와 정상 발달 여아의 심리사회적 행동특성을 파악하고자 집단 간 특성을 t-test, ${\chi}^2test$, ANOVA분석을 통해 비교하고, 성조숙증의 영향요인은 이항로지스틱(Multinomial logistic)회귀분석으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 성조숙증에 미치는 주요 영향요인은 첫째, 행동특성의 식습관에서 고기류 섭취횟수(p<.05)와 외식빈도(p<.05)인 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 행동특성의 일상생활에서 TV시청(p<.001)과 스마트폰 사용시간(p<.01), 수강학원 수(p<.05)인 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 심리적 특성에서 정서상 및 신체상의 지수가 대조군에 비해 낮게 나타남으로써 병리를 더 지닌 것으로 도출되었다. 넷째, 사회적 특성에서 가족 및 친구관계의 지수가 대조군에 비해 낮게 나타남으로써 병리를 더 지닌 것으로 도출되었다. 따라서 증가하는 여아의 성조숙증에 대해 부모와 학교 나아가 사회적 관심이 중요하며 성조숙증에 대한 발생원인과 발생빈도를 밝히는 광범위한 연구수행이 필요하다.

Nutritional Status among Rural Community Elderly in the Risk Area of Liver Fluke, Surin Province, Thailand

  • Thailand is becoming an aging society, this presenting as a serious problem situation especially regarding health. Chronic diseases found frequently in the elderly may be related to dietary intake and life style. Surin province has been reported as a risk area for liver fluke with a high incidence of cholangiocarcinma especially in the elderly. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the nutritional status and associated factors among elderly in Surin province, northeast of Thailand. A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 405 people aged 60 years and above, between September 2012 and July 2014. The participants were selected through a randomized systematic sampling method and completed a pre-designed questionnaire with general information, food recorded, weight, height, waist circumference, and behavior regarding to food consume related to liver fluke infection. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman's rank correlation coefficients. The majority of participants was female (63.5%), age between 60-70 years old (75.6%), with elementary school education (96.6%), living with their (78.9%), and having underlying diseases (38.3%). Carbohydrate (95.3%) was need to improve the consumption. The participants demonstrated under-nutrition (24.4%), over-nutrition (16.4%), and obesity (15.4%). Elderly had a waist circumference as the higher than normal level (34.0%). Gender, female, age 71-80 years old, elementary school and underlying diseases were significantly associated with poor nutritional status. The majority of them had a high knowledge (43.0%), moderate attitude (44.4%), and moderate practice (46.2%) regarding food consumption related to liver fluke infection. In conclusion, these findings data indicated that elderly age group often have an under- or over-nutritional status. Carbohydrate consumption needs to be improved. Some elderly show behavior regarding food consumption that is related to liver fluke infection hat needs to be improved, so that health education pertaining good nutrition is required.

미국 버지니아주 거주 한국인과 미국인의 건강상태 인식도 및 짠맛 기호도 비교 (A Study on the Level of Perception of the Health Condition of Koreans and Americans in Virginia, USA and Their Preference for Salty Taste)

  • This study was conducted as a comparative analysis, using the SPSS 17.0 program for a survey conducted from March to July 2013, on the level of perception and preference factors of Koreans and Americans residing in Virginia, USA(89 male and female adults of 20 years of age or above). For the information on the degree of obesity, a survey was used and the subjects provided with their heights and weights. The researcher used this data to calculated their BMI and distinguished the degrees of obesity. For the BMI, the obesity diagnosis of Korean Society for the Study of Obesity was used for Koreans, and the WHO's obesity diagnosis on adults were employed for Americans. First, regarding the Korean participants, the level of obesity appeared in the order of normal (79.6%), overweight (14.3%), and underweight (6.1%). Also, the level of perceptions of their health conditions appeared in the order of average (51.7%) and good (34.7%). No one perceived their health to be in poor condition. Meanwhile, for the American participants, the order was as follows: overweight at about 45%, normal weight at about 35%, obesity at about 12.5%, and underweight at about 7.5%. In terms of the level of perception of health during ordinary times, about 55% of the American participants answered that they are in good health. Therefore, the Americans were found to perceive their health to be in relatively better condition than the Koreans residing in the USA. Also, concerning the level of interest in health while eating food at ordinary times, the American participants were discovered to be more interested (about 62.5%) than the Korean participants. The research on their preference for salty taste was conducted as a survey, and the subjects were asked to choose an item according to their subjective feeling. Regarding the preference for salty taste, both Koreans and Americans residing in the USA responded as moderate. However, a higher proportion of Americans than Koreans responded to favor salty taste. Concerning the reason for their preference for salty taste, Koreans responded with various reasons whereas Americans mostly responded that it is because they eat salty food frequently. For any changes in dietary behavior related to eating salty food, both Korean and American respondents thought that the amount of their daily intake of salt is appropriate and that they consider taste as most important in selecting a snack. Based on the above data, the results of this research indicate a need for actual improvement in the diet with regard to salty food along with diverse policies for promoting life with a low salt diet in future.

수돗물 이용에 대한 국내 연구동향과 사회적 인식 (The Research Trend and Social Perceptions Related with the Tap Water in South Korea)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내 수돗물 관련 연구 동향을 파악하기 위해 805건의 연구문헌 정보를 수집하여 텍스트 마이닝 기법으로 주제어 관계 분석을 시행하고 수돗물 이용에 대한 설문조사를 진행하여 사회적 인식을 조사하였다. 수돗물에 연관된 연구는 1990년대부터 수가 크게 증가한 것으로 파악되었으나 정확한 수돗물 불신의 원인파악과 대국민 소통에 대한 전문적인 연구는 매우 미흡하였다. 그동안 진행된 주요 연구분야는 크게 상수도 수질, 불소농도조정사업, 수돗물 잔류물 영향, 미생물 관리의 4개 주제군으로 구분할 수 있었다. 수돗물 음용에 대한 대국민 설문조사결과 응답자의 22.4%만이 수돗물을 주 음용수로 이용하고 있었으며 그대로 마시는 비율은 4.5%로 매우 낮게 나타났다. 수돗물의 주 음용수 사용에 미치는 주요한 영향요인으로는 수돗물 품질보고서 인지 여부, 수돗물 관리 정책에 대한 신뢰도 등의 영향력이 큰 것으로 나타났다. 지속적인 수돗물 음용 확대를 위해서는 수돗물 관리 정책 소통의 전환과 연구정보 공유 확산을 통해 이용자의 사회적 관심과 기관의 신뢰를 높여야 한다. 이를 위해 철저하게 관리되고 있는 수돗물 수질에 대한 객관적인 정보전달 체계를 확대하여 사회공공서비스의 모범을 제시해야 할 것으로 생각된다. 또한, 수돗물 불신에 대한 이용자 인식과 행동 원인에 대한 연구와 이를 해결하기 위한 실험적 접근들이 동시에 이루어져야 할 것으로 판단된다.

Effects of Exogenous Ghrelin on the Behaviors and Performance of Weanling Piglets

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of exogenous ghrelin on the behaviors, weight gain, and feed intakes of weanling piglets. A total of 25 pairs of Duroc$\times$Landrace$\times$Large White piglets weaned at 21 days of age were used in this experiment which finished on day 36. Each pair of healthy piglets from the same litter with similar body weight and of the same gender were selected and randomly arranged to ghrelin or control groups. Thus, there were 50 piglets (ghrelin 25; control 25) kept in 10 pens (ghrelin 5; control 5) and 5 piglets per pen. Initial body weight of the pigs did not differ between the control and ghrelin treatment ($7.43{\pm}0.17kg$; p = 0.81). Experimental pigs were infused with ghrelin ($1{\mu}g/d$ pig) via the marginal ear vein between 0750 and 0800 h at 22, 23, 24 days of age. Control pigs were infused with 0.9% saline. Feed consumption was measured on days 23, 24, 25, 29 and 36. Body weight was measured on days 22, 23, 24, 25, 29 and 36. Behavior data of individual piglets were collected by real-time observation from 0800-1500 h through remote supervisory equipment at 22, 23 and 24 days of age. The results indicated that ghrelin infusion could increase drinking (p<0.05) and lying behaviors (p<0.01) and decrease mounting behaviors (p<0.05). No significant influence of ghrelin was found on average daily weight gain (ADG) and average daily feed intake (ADFI) in this experiment (p>0.05). In conclusion, exogenous ghrelin by the method above and at the dosage of $1{\mu}g/d$ pig could cause a variety of behavioral effects, but not improve performance of weanling piglets.

중국 상하이·허쩌 중·고등학생의 식습관과 비만도 및 영양지식과의 관련성 연구 (Associations of Eating Habits with Obesity and Nutrition Knowledge for Middle and High School Adolescents in Shanghai and Heze China)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between eating habits and health among adolescents in Shanghai and Heze, China. A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2013 on 2,089 adolescents; 1,089 students were from Shanghai and 999 students from Heze region. Eating habits, weight, height, and nutritional knowledge were assessed using a self-administered questionnaire. Eating habits score was classified into two categories: healthy eating habits and unhealthy eating habits, based on "Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey", for statistical data analysis. Associations between eating habits, BMI, and nutritional knowledge were examined using a general linear model with adjustment of potential confounding factors such as region, gender, age, parents' education level, and pocket money. Statistical analyses were performed using the SAS (version 9.3) program. Proportions of healthy eating habits group were 90.0% for breakfast (3-7 times/wk), 29.1% for fruit (${\geq}once/d$), 12.5% for vegetable (${\geq}3times/d$), 7.3% for milk (${\geq}2times/d$), 90.0% for fast food (<3 times/wk) consumption, respectively. The average BMI score was 20.1 (Shanghai 20.5 Heze 19.6), which is in the range of normal weight. Rates of obesity and overweight were 16.5% and 8.3% in Shanghai and Heze, respectively. There were significant negative correlations between intake frequencies of breakfast, fast food, biscuits, sugar, chocolate, and BMI score. Eating habits and nutritional knowledge score showed a significant positive correlation. These results showed better eating habits regarding eating regularity and consumption of fruits and soft drinks in Chinese adolescents compared with Korean adolescents, although cultural differences were not fully considered. This study demonstrated significant associations of BMI and nutritional knowledge with dietary behavior in Chinese adolescents in two regions of China. Further studies on Chinese adolescents from other regions in China should be considered.

농촌지역 노인의 생활실태 조사연구 -의.식.주생활 및 심리적 적응을 중심으로- (Living Conditions of the Rural Elderly: Clothing, Nutrition, Housing, and Psychological Adjustment)

  • Living conditions of the rural elderly were assessed in terms of clothing behavior, health and nutritional status, housing and envioronmental condition, and psychological adjustment. The subjects were eighty individuals over sixty residing in the rural community of Iksan-kun, Chollabukdo. The interview method using questionnaires, direct measurement, and observation was used for this study. Data were compared with those obtained from a previous study of the elderly residing in an urban area. Clothing behavior showed that the elderly residing in the rural community were more concerned about plain and conservative design of clothes than their urban counterparts. Special protective clothes for cropdusting with agricultural chemicals had not been prepared. The following urgent needs were pointed out: development and supply of agricultural chemical protective clothing and development and education of appropriate washing and clothing care methods. The health status of the elderly was generally good, but poor eating habits were found more frequently in the rural elderly than among the urban dwellers. Several dietary nutrient intakes were insufficient. Contrasting the urban elderly with the rural group, it was found that the urban group lacked sufficient vitamin A and vitamin C and the urban women had insufficient calorie whereas the rural group was deficient in protein, vitamin A, calorie, and fat. A significant relationship was found between dietary nutrient intake and health index, food habit points, self recognized health status, meal satisfaction, and economic status. Urgent needs of the development of a nutrition education program for the elderly were pointed out. Most of elderly residing in the surveyed rural communities were living alone or with their spouse only, therefore only one room was used among the three or four available rooms. Most of the rural elderly were living either in a traditional Korean house built with differing floor levels or in a modified Korean style house. Minimal modernization had been made for kitchen facilities such as sink and gas range or for heating facilities with the briquette boiler. However, sanitary space such as lavatory and bathroom had not been remodeled. A housing welfare program for rural communities should be implemented at the national level. The comparison of psychological characteristics of the rural elderly with their city counterparts revealed that the rural elderly have a more stable psychological status and optimistic attitude than those living in a city. However, it was found that most of the elderly did not have any future plan. Community programs for the elderly including hobbies or leisure activities or education programs to generate close interpersonal relationships with their children should be developed and provided.
