  • The dielectric properties of glass ceramics with BaTiO$_3$ crystallites are described. In this study measurements were made over the frequency range 1kHz-10MHz and temperature range $25^{\circ}C$-15$0^{\circ}C$. There are several minor constituents in the glass which needed to obtain the desired properties. The fluorine ion substitutes for oxygen in glass-crystallized BaTiO$_3$. And additions of Mg ion is used to shift the Curie temperature. We show the addition of Mg ion lowers the Curie point to about 323。K.

  • In order to compare with domestic underground distribution cables, the foreign cable which was manufactured in USA, 1982 and has been serviced in field for 13 years was characterized with several tests. Water trees, voids, and convolutions are not found in insulation. In hot oil test, insulation is very clean and there was no separation of insulation and conductor shield. The results of degree of crosslinking, FTIR, and DSC are also usual. Specially, the distribution of OIT is very good, which is different from that of domestic cables. The content of impurities is relatively small. This cables was manufactured with good state and no extraordinary degradation is found.

  • This paper describes the simulation study, conducted on the propagation characteristics of AE signal. In the case of gas insulation, such as SF6, the equipment is less affected by the environment condition than air insulation, because the component parts of equipment were placed in the enclosure, which is filled with compressed gas. But, when the breakdown in the electric insulation occurs, it takes much time and economical efforts to repair. Therefore it is very important to diagnose the equipment before the accident. And, in general, UHF and AE signal is the most common transducer to diagnose the state of the power equipment, so, in this investigation, we make a experimental apparatus with aluminum plate and transient analysis with ANSYS to observe the propagation characteristics of AE signal. Through the result of the analysis, we can make a further understanding on the propagation characteristics of AE signal, and get the fundamental skills for the GIS diagnosis.

  • Recently many research activities on the diagnosis of stator winding insulation of high-voltage motors have been reported. Most of them utilize a trend analysis of partial discharges. In this paper, a novel on-line monitoring system for an insulation diagnosis is proposed. This system displays magnitude and phase angle distribution of partial discharge. The partial discharge activities can be interpreted more precisely by these techniques.

  • In order to develop electrical insulation materials, epoxy/micro-silica composite (EMC) and epoxy/micro-silica/nano-silicate composite (EMNC) were prepared, and their tensile and flexural strength, AC insulation breakdown strength and thermal conductivity and thermal expansion coefficient were compared. Nano-silicate was prepared in an epoxy matrix by our AC electric field process. All properties of the neat epoxy were improved by the addition of micro-silica, which was improved much further by the addition of nano-silicate to the EMC system.

  • Epoxy resin insulators show a lot of advantages for electrical power apparatus. Because epoxy resin provide electrical and mechanical characteristic which is excellent, it is desirable to apply epoxy resin as a spacer and post insulation in Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS). In this study, we have investigated the influence of surface electric field attached particle contaminated spacer surfaces under SF6 gas. Also, we performed analysis of electric field. As a result, when the particle was attached on spacer, we found out a surface electric field of characteristics.

  • In this paper, stator form-winding sample coils based on silicone resin and polyimide were made for fault prediction and reliability estimation on the 200 Class insulation system of traction motors. The complex accelerative degradation was performed by periods during 10 cycles, which was composed of thermal stress, fast rising surge voltage, vibration, water immersion and overvoltage applying. After aging of 10 cycles, condition diagnosis test such as insulation resistance & polarization index, capacitance & dielectric loss and partial discharge properties were investigated in the temperature range of 20∼160$^{\circ}C$. Relationship among condition diagnosis test was analyzed to find an dominative degradation factor and an insulation state at end-life point.

  • With the aim of developing XLPE insulation for extra high voltage cable, we investigated the morphology of cross-linked polyethylene. We used a kind of base materials and additives, and controlled curing condition and amount of additives. The effect of addition of additives on morphology of XLPE such as lamellar density, orientation and additive layer were analyzed using TEM analysis. We applied this result to diffused additive amount was analyzed using FT-IR analysis, and the change of microstructure as the degree of additive diffusion was analyzed using TEM analysis.

  • In this paper, describes the fabrication and dielectric insulation characteristics experimental results of the model cable for the 22.9kV class HTS power cable. The model cable were tested with partial discharge(PD), AC and impulse withstand voltage in liquid nitrogen($LN_2$) and liquid nitrogen pressure. In these test results, PD inception stress and AC, impulse breakdown strength increase as the pressure of the liquid nitrogen increases.

  • In this paper, influence factors on dynamic properties of floor impact noise insulation materials are suggested. For this purpose measurements on the dynamic stiffness and the loss factor of resilient materials are carried out by Korea standard (KS F 2868) according to the change of density, thickness, design pattern, and composition of materials. As a result the values of dynamic stiffness was decreased at high density and thick thickness, and that of loss factor was increased at low density. For dynamic properties, the pattern of lattice and waffle type material is better than that of plat type, and the mixed composition of materials is better than the composition of double layer materials at same thickness.
