  • The importance of insulating material becomes greater recently in order to attain a quieter life style amidst today's sound noise such as transportation, industrial machinery. The demand for insulating material is increasing due to the increase of noise space. It is reasonable to predict the transmission loss and the absorption of the insulating Material before arranging it in the appropriate places and attaining a Pleasant acoustic environment inside the space. The experiments of insulating material's were performed using Impedance tube Type 4206 T of B&K, and VIOLINS which is a FEM Program of LMS was used for the analysis

Specific Heat Measurement of Insulating Material using Heat Diffusion Method

  • The objective of the present work is to develop a precise instrument for measuring the thermal property of insulating material over a temperature range from 30 K to near room temperature by utilizing a cryocooler. The instrument consists of two thermal links, a test sample, heat sink, heat source and vacuum vessel. The cold head of the cryocooler as a heat sink is thermally anchored to the thermal link and used to bring the apparatus to a desired temperature in a vacuum chamber. An electric heater as a heat source is placed in the middle of test sample for generating uniform heat flux. The entire apparatus is covered by thermal shields and wrapped in multi-layer insulation to minimize thermal radiation in a vacuum chamber. For a supplied heat flux the temperature distribution in the insulating material is measured in steady and transient state. The thermal conductivity of insulating material is measured from temperature difference for a given heat flux. In addition, the specific heat of insulating material is obtained by solving one-dimensional heat diffusion equation.

가속 열 열화에 따른 환경친화형 변압기 절연물의 전기적-기계적 특성 분석 (Analyses on Electrical-Mechanical Characteristics of Environment-friendly Transformer Insulating Material by Accelerated Thermal Aging)

  • Aging of transformer insulating material in natural ester insulating oil is compared to that in conventional transformer oil. Aging of insulating paper and insulating oil have been studied by performing accelerated thermal aging test. Sealed aging test vessels containing cooper, laminated core, Kraft paper and insulating oil(natural oil or mineral oil) were aged at $140^{\circ}C$ for 500, 1000, 1500 and 2000 hours. Insulating oils after aging are investigated with total acid number, breakdown voltage and viscosity. Also, degradation of insulating paper after aging is determined using breakdown voltage and mechanical strength. Accelerated aging studies demonstrate a slower aging rate for natural ester insulating oil compared to the rate for conventional mineral oil.

  • Two-layer self bonding insulating tape consists of butyl rubber(IIR ; Isobutylene-isoprene rubber) adhesive layer and polyethylene protective film. Butyl rubber have inherent characteristics such as resistance to corrosion and water, low temperature flexibility, excellent electrical insulating properties also resistance to environmental effect such as ozone and ultraviolet. Polyethylene film was used for the purpose of good insulating properties and resistance to ozone and ultraviolet. The tape was manufactured using extrusion and calender method.

  • Electrical property of polymeric insulating plays a key role in the trend of making power apparatus high voltage, and reliability and safety of apparatus in the long term depend on it. There is a recent trend of applying polymeric material to insulating material for outdoor, and particularly it is expected that it may be used partly as a pin insulator. Using as an alternate of insulating material for outdoor, however, it has still many problems to be solved in the field of material such as resistances of environment and tracking. It has been given attention to that the silicon rubbers and the epoxy have recently been used. but the the reliability in the viewpoint of material property becomes an issue. The polymeric materials such as EPDM, Epoxy and PVC have also been used as an insulating materials for outdoor. In this point of view, we studied each tracking phenomenon with test material such as rubber for pin, PVC for powercable used as an insulating material for outdoor, and Epoxy etc. The characteristics of anti tracking shows EPDM>Epoxy>PVC in order in the results. We also know that there is an close relationship between properties of tracking and thermegravimetry.

누전차단기 절연재료의 소손 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Damage by Burning Characteristics of Insulating Materials of RCD)

  • 본 연구는 국내에서 사용되고 있는 누전차단기 외함 절연재료의 소손 특성에 대하여 연구하였다. 시료는 3개 제조사의 누전차단기 외함 절연재료를 사용하였으며, 시료의 열분해특성, 연소특성, 트래킹 특성 등을 비교 분석하였다. 열분해특성은 TGA를 사용하였으며, 연소특성은 ISO5660(Fire Tests - Reaction to Fire, part 1)을 만족하는 Mass Loss Calorimeter(FTT 사)를 사용하였고, 트래킹 특성은 고체 절연재료의 내트래킹 및 비교트래킹 지수를 측정하는 실험인 KSC IEC 60112.의 기준에 따라 분석하였다. 연구결과 A제조사의 경우 내트래킹성이 가장 우수하였고, B제조사의 경우 내트래킹성이 가장 낮은 반면 $350^{\circ}C$ 이상의 고온에서 열안정성이 가장 우수하였으며, C제조사의 경우 $400^{\circ}C$ 이하의 온도에서 열안정성이 가장 우수한 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • Air arc interruption used in low rated voltage breaker, ACB and MCCB, have used the arc chamber composed of metal plates and insulating laminates which supposed these mechanically. and geometry and materials of arc chamber are very different by breaker manufacturer. These breakers have required to be smaller and to interrupt higher current by user. therefore the arc chamber geometry and material in breaker have been small, complex and various. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of insulating laminates and contact materials on air arc interruption. Contacts were surrounded by a rectangle chamber of insulating laminates. Contact concoctions were composed of AgW, AgCdO that have used in low rated voltage breaker, and insulating laminates were polyester, epoxy. We found strong dependance of arc voltage on insulating material. The ablated vapor on polyester increased arc voltage that was useful in air arc interruption.

  • In this paper, insulating varnish has been used for field magnet and armature impregnated insulating material of electric locomotive and traction motor. When it was duplicated coating, it could be accuse internal void, and which could change electrical characteristics. We used to boundary elemental method of simulation tool, and improved optimal insulating design of insulating varnish according to measuring electric distribution in void of specimen.

  • To investigate the partial discharge and electric field distribution in cable joint parts, we measured the partial discharge and electric field in specimen. The specimens which cross-linked polyethylene(XLPE) and ethylene propylene diene ethylene(EPDM) are used to insulating material for underground cable md cable jointing parts. The polymers are used to insulating material in switchgear which is a kind of transformer equipment and in ultra-high voltage cable. Its using is increasing gradually, the electrical insulation properties are not only excellent but also mechanical property is excellent. And because it is possible to be made void of several type in insulator while it is produced, which the electrical field distribution is changed by void, it has a critical influence to insulator performance. The underground cable is connecting by the jointing material, insulating breakdown and the electric ageing which are caused by several mixing impurity and the damage of cable insulator layer, which reduced the life of cable while intermediate joint kit is connected. Therefore, the computer simulation is used to estimating insulator performance, XLPE is used to the insulating material of ultra-high voltage cable and EPDM is used to insulator layer in joint material kit, and which are produced as specimen. And it is analyzed the electric field concentrating distribution and partial discharge by modeling of computer simulation in void and cable joint kit.

  • In a large power transformer, insulating oil is forced to circulate for cooling the heat generated by the losses within windings and core. When insulating oil flows and rubs against various materials, such as insulating paper or core, the electrostatic charges are separated at the interface of the oil and the solid material. This paper considers the streaming electrification of various materials used in the transformer. In this study, we show that a solid material such as paper is negatively charged. On the other hand, a solid material such as core is positively charged.
