  • Field screening for pollutants has been a target of instrumental development for number of years. An electronic nose can be of substantial benefit to rapidly localize the spatial extent of a pollution or to find pollutant source. Although an electronic nose cannot separate complex composition into the whole spectrum of present volatile organic compound(VOC) in pollutants such as Gas chromatography(GC), qualitative and semi-quantitative chemical characterizations are rapidly available on site at a low cost using the optimum sensory system and pattern recognition algorithm based on neural network.

  • Forecasting and time series modelling plays a vital role in the data analysis process. Time Series is widely used in analytics & data science. Forecasting stock prices is a popular and important topic in financial and academic studies. A stock market is an unregulated place for forecasting due to the absence of essential rules for estimating or predicting a stock price in the stock market. Therefore, predicting stock prices is a time-series problem and challenging. Machine learning has many methods and applications instrumental in implementing stock price forecasting, such as technical analysis, fundamental analysis, time series analysis, statistical analysis. This paper will discuss implementing the stock price, forecasting, and research using prophet and LSTM models. This process and task are very complex and involve uncertainty. Although the stock price never is predicted due to its ambiguous field, this paper aims to apply the concept of forecasting and data analysis to predict stocks.

  • This study was designed to evaluate the social support network of schizophrenic patients. 64 schizophrenic patients being treated as out-door patient were compared with 30 neurotic control patients. Schizophrenics were divided into positive, subpositive, subnegative and negative subgroups by present symptom and social network of both schizophrenics and control group were evaluated. The results are as follows: 1) Social network of schizophrenics was smaller than that of control group. Size of social network of schizophrenics was 10.6 and that of control group was 23.5. 2) In both kin and nonkin, social network of schizophrenics was smaller than that of control group. Of the kin, schizophrenics were more supported by wife or husband, father, and mother, but were less supported by brother, son and other relatives. 3) There was no difference in the kin or nonkin or total supporters between the four subgroups of schizophrenics. But, subgroup of schizophrenics which was divided as having negative symptom had smaller network than control group in active formal and informal supporters. 4) When divided into 4 support areas, schizophrenics was remarkably less supported in emotional, instrumental and appraisal support area than control group, but there was no difference in the informational support areas. 5) Compared with control group, schizophrenics more often mentioned parent and ten often mentioned nonkin supporter as the one that is most important to him. 6) Schizophrenics had smaller cluster and less leisure activity than control group. Subgroup of schizophrenics who was divided as having negative symptom had less frequency of leisure activity than other subgroups.

  • In the moving target problem, the velocity information of the moving target is very important as well as the high accuracy position information. To solve this problem, active researches are being conducted recently with combine the Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) and Frequency Delay of Arrival(FDOA) measurements. However, since the FDOA measurement is utilizing the Doppler effect due to the relative velocity between the target source and the receiver sensor, it may be difficult to use the FDOA measurement if the moving target speed is not sufficiently fast. In this paper, we propose a method for estimating the position and the velocities of the target by using only the TDOA measurements for the low speed moving target in the indoor environment with sensor network. First, the target position and heading angle are obtained from the estimated positions of two attached transmitters on the target. Then, the target angular and linear velocities are also estimated. In addtion, we apply the Instrumental Variable (IV) technique to compensate the estimation error of the estimated target velocity. In simulation, the performance of the proposed algorithm is verified.

  • Alzheimer's is a chronic progressive disease which exhibits varied symptoms and behavioural traits from person to person. The deterioration in cognitive abilities is more noticeable through their Activities and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living rather than biological markers. This information discussed in social media communities was collected and features were extracted by using the proposed fuzzy logic based algorithm to address the uncertainties and imprecision in the data reported. The data thus obtained is used to train machine learning models in order to predict the longevity of the patients. Models built on features extracted using the proposed algorithm performs better than models trained on full set of features. Important findings are discussed and Support Vector Regressor with RBF kernel is identified as the best performing model in predicting the longevity of Alzheimer's patients. The results would prove to be of high value for healthcare practitioners and palliative care providers to design interventions that can alleviate the trauma faced by patients and caregivers due to chronic diseases.

  • The purpose of this study is to systematize the theory of the father-child relationship by analyzing the father's role and father-child interaction. The results of this study are as followings: (1) The oedipal period 3 to 5 years is a critical in development of the father-child relationship. Father absence is assumed in infancy but it is denying because the father participates in Child- rearing activity. (2) The Father's role is symbolized instrumental role traditionally and culturally but it is appropriate that we think the father's role to be androgynous concepts. Instrumental role as well as expressive role is expected to father's role. (3) The role of the father is supplementary mother's role. The father provides economic, emotional support and helps the balanced child- rearing. This indirect role of the father is very important. (4) The father influences child development, and his role is to be sex-role model to contrieve personality internalize moral development. But it is needed more empirical study to clarify father's effects on child development. (5) The amount of time that fathers spend with their children is less than mothers, but it is not assumed that difference of this amount of time do not differently influence to the children. (6) There are much similarity that difference between father-child interaction and mother- child interaction. Qualitative difference in interaction is response style. A responsive style of the father is physical intellectual instructive but mother's is verbal. (7) The effects of the father to a child must be analyzed on dyadic dimension and triadic dimension of family network. In triadic dimension, father influences mother- child relationship, mother to response sensitively, husband-wife relation.

  • It's not easy to detect the high quality and functional compounds for control quality of food materials. The electronic nose was an instrument, which comprised of an array of electronic chemical sensors with partial specificity and an appropriate pattern recognition system, capable of recognizing simple or complex odors. It can conduct fast analysis and provide simple and straightforward results and is best suited for quality control and process monitoring in the field of functional foods. Numbers of applications of an electronic nose in the functional food industry include discrimination of habitats for medicinal food materials, monitoring storage process, lipid oxidation, and quality control of food and/or processing with principal component analysis, neural network analysis and the electronic nose based on GC-SAW sensor. The electronic nose would be possibly useful for a wide variety of quality control in the functional food and plant cultivation when correlating traditional analytical instrumental data with sensory evaluation results or electronic nose data.
