  • Blasting vibrations of 3 quarries and 5 construction sites were measured and investigated with two reference data. Square and cubic root scaled distance were similar in fitness to peak particle velocity of individual blasting site, but the former is better fitted in total. It was suggested that the limit scaled distance for domestic surface blasting be 40kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ for 10mm/s level and 60kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ for 5mm/s level, which were lower than the OSM's regulation. Prevailing vibration components were in the order of radial, vertical and transverse directions. Prevailing vibration components were in the order of radial, vertical and transverse directons. Site factors K and m were 242 and -1.283 for all studied area, 357 and -1.348 for construction sites, 118 and -1.160 for quarries. Most prevailing frequency was in the range of 10~2Hz. Overlapping effect of delayed blasting vibrations were insignificant. Vibration history of delayed blasting was longer than simultaneous blasting, and it became longer as measuring distance increased. Wave form and predominant frequencies were more complicated for delayed blasting than instantaneous blasting. The influence of blasting scale and measuring distance were not significant to determine peak particle velocity equation.

  • Monte carlo method is especially a useful method for the analysis of thermal noise of semiconductor devices since the time dependence of microscopic details is simulated directly. Recently, a mthod for the calculation of the instantaneous currents of 2-dimensional devices, which is numerically more accurate than the conventional method, has been proposed using the generalized ramo-shockley theorem. Using this mehtod we investage the validity of the existing thermal noise theories of field-effect transistors. First, the 1-dimensional analysis of thermal noise theories of field-effect transistors. First, the 1-dimensional analysis of thermal noise theories of field-effect transistors. First, the 1-dimensional analysis of thermal noise using ramo-shockley theorem is shown to be applicable to 2 dimensional devices if the frequency of interest is low enough. The correlation between electrons in different regions of th echannel is shown not to be negligible. And we also obtian the spatial map of the noise in the channel region. By doing so, we show that the steady state nyquist theorem is the correct theory rather than the theory by van der ziel et.al.

  • The screech tone of underexpanded jet is numerically calculated without any specific modeling for the screech tone itself. Fourth-order optimized compact scheme and fourth-order Runge-Kutta method are used to solve the 2D axisymmetric Euler equation. Adaptive nonlinear artificial dissipation model and generalized characteristic boundary condition are also used. The screech tone, generated by a closed loop between instability waves and quasi-periodic shock cells at the near field, is reasonably analyzed with present numerical methods for the underexpanded jet having Mach number 1.13. First of all, the centerline mean pressure distribution is calculated and compared with experimental and other numerical results. The instantaneous density contour plot shows Mach waves due to mixing layer convecting supersonically, which propagate downstream. The pressure signal and its Fourier transform at upstream and downstream shows the directivity pattern of screech tone very clearly. Most of all, we can simulate the axisymmetric mode change of screech tone very precisely with present method. It can be concluded that the basic phenomenon of screech tone including the frequency can be calculated by using high-order and high-resolution schemes without any specific numerical modeling for screech tone feedback loop.

  • This paper proposes a parametric design of an LLC resonant inverter used for a microwave oven. To improve the harmonic performance of the microwave oven, a current controller with a variable PI gain is proposed. Due to the recent strengthening of harmonics regulations, inverter control technology for microwave ovens is now required to satisfy harmonic performance. In an LLC resonant inverter, the voltage gain varies remarkably depending on the magnetron voltage, output power, and input voltage. To satisfy harmonic performance, a controller that can maintain operation in the zero-voltage switching (ZVS) region and control changes in voltage gain is required. The modified design of the LLC resonant inverter ensures ZVS operation even when the magnetron is heated. Application of the variable current controller improves harmonic control according to the instantaneous gain curve change. The validity of the proposed power control with a variable current controller is verified by experiments with a 1200 W microwave oven.

  • A new phase-average technique using instantaneous velocity fields obtained by a PIV method has been developed. The technique tracks vorticity centers and estimates the value of circulation for a chosen domain. The locations of vortex-centers and the magnitudes of circulation are matched together then showing a sine wave feature due to the periodic vortex shedding from the circular cylinder. Ensemble averaged and phase averaged velocity fields are successfully measured for the circular cylinder wake where Reynolds number is 3900 based on free stream velocity and cylinder diameter. The convection velocities of the vortices center and the vortex shedding frequency were measured by a single hot-wire probe.

  • A shock-wave in a supersonic flow can be theoretically determined by a given pressure ratio at upstream and downstream flowfields, and then the obtained shock-wave is stable in its position. Under the practical situation in which the shock-wave interacts with the boundary layer along a solid wall, it cannot, however, be stable even for the given pressure ratio being independent of time and oscillates around a time-mean position. In the present study, oscillations of a weak normal shock-wave in a supersonic diffuser were measured by a Line Image Sensor(LIS), and they were compared with the data of the wall pressure fluctuations at the foot of the shock-wave interacting with the wall boundary layer. LIS was incorporated into a conventional schlieren optical system and its signal, instantaneous displacement of the interacting shock-wave, was analyzed by a statistical method. The results show that the displacement of an oscillating shock-wave increase with the upstream Mach number and the dominant frequency components of the oscillating shock-wave are below 200 Hz. Measurements indicated that shock-wave oscillations may not entirely be caused by the boundary layer separation. The statistical properties of oscillations appeared, however, to be significantly affected by shock-induced separation of turbulent boundary layer.

  • Results of isothermal torsional oscillation tests are reported on melts of linear low density polyethylene and isotactic polypropylene. Prior to rheological tests, specimens were annealed at various temperatures ranging from $T_a$ = 180 to $310^{\circ}C$ for various amounts of time (from 30 to 120 min). Thermal treatment induced degradation of the melts and caused pronounced decreases in their molecular weights. With reference to the concept of transient networks, constitutive equations are developed for the viscoelastic response of polymer melts. A melt is treated as an equivalent network of strands bridged by junctions (entanglements and physical cross-links). The time-dependent response of the network is modelled as separation of active strands from and merging of dangling strands with temporary nodes. The stress-strain relations involve three adjustable parameters (the instantaneous shear modulus, the average activation energy for detachment of active strands, and the standard deviation of activation energies) that are determined by matching the dependencies of storage and loss moduli on frequency of oscillations. Good agreement is demonstrated between the experimental data and the results of numerical simulation. The study focuses on the effect of molecular weight of polymer melts on the material constants in the constitutive equations.

  • In this work, the dynamic properties of a high performance concrete containing glass powder (GP) was studied. The GP is a new cementitious material obtained by recycling waste glass presenting pozzolanic activity. This eco-friendly material was incorporated in concrete mixes by replacing 20 and 30% of cement. The mechanical properties of building materials highly affect the response of the structure under dynamic actions. First, the resonant vibration frequencies were measured on concrete plate with free boundary conditions after 14, 28 and 90 curing days by using an alternative vibration monitoring technique. This technique measures the average frequencies of several excitations done at different points of the plate. This approach takes into account the heterogeneity of a material like concrete. So, the results should be more precise and reliable. For measuring the bending and torsion resonant frequencies, as well as the damping ratio. The dynamic properties of material such as dynamic elastic modulus and dynamic shear modulus were determined by modelling the plate on the finite element software ANSYS. Also, the instantaneous aroused frequency method and ultrasound method were used to determine the dynamic elastic modulus for comparison purpose, with the results obtained from vibration monitoring technique.

  • This paper is purposed to develop DAQ H/W, S/W and DB which can be used in developing electrical fire alarm system or in analyzing electrical fire cause, by detecting and monitoring precursor signals which have high possibility leading to electrical fire on electrical distribution wires. In this paper, developed was DAQ H/W adopting the C8051FXXX CPU which can analyze the measurement signals of current and voltage in electrical distribution wires, other CPU was investigated in view of the best digital sampling rate on the basis of previous researches for electrical fire alarm system. Also, the S/W which can interface with DAQ H/W's communication protocol and can be applied for electrical fire causes analysis, are embodied by LabVIEW. The combined DAQ H/W and S/W could analyze efficiently normal as well as abnormal electrical signals such as RMS value, instantaneous value of current and voltage, frequency signals etc, on the electrical wires. Also, DB system was constructed for recording various analysis results for precursor signals including voltage and current signals. The results by simulator and experiment showed that the suggested scheme with DAQ H/W, S/W and DB in this paper has high usability.

  • Phase averaged velocity fields in the near wake region behind a square cylinder have been (successfully) obtained using randomly sampled PIV data sets. The Reynolds number based on the flow velocity and the vertex height was 3,900. To identify the phase information, we examined the magnitude of circulation and the center of peak vorticity. The center of vorticity was estimated from lowpass filtered vorticity contours (LES decomposition) adopting a sub-pixel searching algirithm. Due to the sinusoidal nature of firculation which is closely related to the instantaneous vorticity, the location of peak voticity fits well with a sine curve of the circulation magnitude. Conditionally-averaged velocity fields represent the barman vortex shedding phenomenon very well within 5 degrees phase uncertainty. The oscillating nature of the separated shear layer and the separation bubble at the top surface are clearly observed. With the hot-wire measurements of Strouhal frequency, we found thats the convection velocity changes its magnitude very rapidly from 25 to 75 percent of the free stream velocity along the streamwise direction when the flow passes by the recirculation region.
