  • The Dynamic programming method are developed for determining where to assign the inspection efforts in serial multi-stage production systems. The objective function is formulated to minimize the inspection and repairing costs. One of the major assumptions in this systems is that every assigned inspection stations should inspect the only items produced in manufacturing stages after the previous inspction station. The inspection stations can be assigned at every possible inspection stage after the manufacturing stages. Two type error is considered and screening inspection policy is assumed in this system and the defective items detected in tile inspection stations will be repaired or scraped by the defective types.

  • Korea augmentation satellite system (KASS) integration, verification, qualification (IVQ) activity is verification of requirements for KASS system and its sub-system that were performed based on the inspection, analysis, review of design, test (IART) method from factory acceptance test (FAT) to test readiness review (TRR) after critical design review (CDR) was closed. In the FAT phase, developed equipment was installed on the test platform and we were verified interfaces between sub-systems and coupling test with the kass control station (KCS). In the site aceeptance test (SAT) phase, on-site verification was conducted by installing equipment verified by FAT such as kass reference station (KRS), kass processing station (KPS), kass uplink station (KUS), KCS. However, considering the developed plan and status, SAT was divided into 3 phases and coupling test was performed. In the TRR phase, the KASS system verification was performed through FAT's test list and additional test list using the satellite based augmentation system (SBAS) broadcast signal from geostationary earth orbit (GEO) 1.

  • Flatness inspection of PC elements is normally conducted manually by inspectors at manufacturing sites. However, the manual inspection is error-prone and subjective, so it is necessary to develop a robust and efficient flatness measurement method. Recently, a few studies of laser scanner-based flatness inspection have been conducted. However, little attention on field applicability in terms of accuracy, time and cost has been paid. To tackle the limitation, this study aims to compare three sensing method including floor profiler, terrestrial laser scanner and total station for flatness inspection of PC elements. A series of experiments on two full-scale PC slabs were conducted and the results show that the laser scanning method is the most suitable for the PC elements flatness inspection in the aspects of accuracy, time and cost.

  • Quality evaluation must be more developed in order to offer the sufficient information for producer, distribution centers buyer, consumer. There are many parameters which influence the rice quality and cooked rice. It is difficult to evaluate the quality of rice and cooked rice by only some parameters. In the case of rice quality evaluation in Korea, physicochemical inspection is performed by examining the minimum and maximum limits of brown rice recovery, moisture content, damaged kernel, and colored kernel as inspection standard. Marketing standard of rice defines the limits of perfect, white core and belly, colored, damaged kernels, and broken rice, classifying into special, excellent, and normal grades. As a research direction for the development of rice quality evaluation, establishment as parts of technical field, must be further developed as follows : more detailed measure of characters, search of unknown taste-related components, creation and grade classification of quality evaluation factors at each management stages of treatment after harvesting, evaluation as food material as well as cooking rice, method development for simple evaluation and establishment of equation for palatability. In the side of policy, the following concerns must be conducted: price discrimination in conformity to rice cultivar and grade under the basis of qualify evaluation method developed, fixation of head rice branding, and introduction of low temperature circulation.

  • In this paper, we described a measurement method of an EIRP(Effective Isotropic Radiated Power) of a WCDMA base station using a pilot channel in line-of-sight environments. Especially we measured it in real base station environments in order to apply this method to domestic base station inspection test. Estimated EIRP results from measured value is -2 dB lower than theoretical values, which is calculated by the data of transmit antenna. The deviation of -2 dB is verified as a polarization mismatch between the base station antenna and a receiver antenna, and it can be calibrated. Therefore, we verified that our measurement method could be an effective tool to measure an EIRP in WCDMA base station inspection test.

  • Following the Fukushima accident, a special safety inspection was conducted in Korea. The inspection results show that Korean nuclear power plants have no imminent risk for expected maximum potential earthquake or coastal flooding. However long- and short-term safety improvements do need to be implemented. One of the measures to increase the mitigation capability during a prolonged station blackout (SBO) accident is installing injection flow paths to provide emergency cooling water of external sources using fire engines to the steam generators or reactor cooling systems. This paper illustrates an evaluation of the effectiveness of external cooling water injection strategies using fire trucks during a potential extended SBO accident in a 1,000 MWe pressurized water reactor. With regard to the effectiveness of external cooling water injection strategies using fire engines, the strategies are judged to be very feasible for a long-term SBO, but are not likely to be effective for a short-term SBO.

  • Many countries have introduced new imported food safety measures, following the accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. This study was conducted to evaluate the measures contents and effects on food trades values. Eight percent of members were notified the introduced measures to the World Trade Organization. The measures' contents were banning imports, enhancing inspection and adding certification requirement. The covered regions were some prefectures, entire Japan or all affected countries. European Union introduced a measure that subjecting foods originating from 12 prefectures to import at designated ports with required certification. The measures were amended 8 times until March 2014 to apply listed foods from 15 prefectures. The trade value of fishery products and miscellaneous foods were affected. Australia introduced a measure that required additional inspection of dairy, fishery and plants products from 13 prefectures with subsequent amendments. The trade value had no effect in tested foods. Chinese Taipei introduced a temporary import ban for all foods from 6 prefectures. Trade values for fruits were affected. The United States issued an import alert for detention without examination for listed prefectures and goods without introducing new measures. Although no specific products were affected, trade values for all foods were affected.
